The guess here is that gender identification is slightly more confusing than with humans
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
On Wednesday, Gov. Sonny Perdue, a licensed veterinarian and bush pilot, will conduct a health check and ultrasound on Dottie the Pregnant Elephant at Zoo Atlanta. Dottie is due in 2009.
Elephant pregnancies last around 22 months. The only creature with a longer gestation period is the immobilis atlantis, also known as the common transportation bill, which requires seven to eight years before delivery.

Although Atlanta was fortunate enough to be the home of Lun Lun’s successful panda pregnancy, births of the elusive transportation bill are extremely rare in this part of the world. Although researchers say that conditions like gridlock and smog typically make for an ideal birth setting, potential parents are often frightened away by the common legis-ostrich. Interestingly, this predator hunts by keeping his head buried in the sand.

And how many centuries will it take Ga lawmakers to realize we are not a Christian state and let us buy alcohol on Sunday. As if Christianity has any thing to do with what people buy on Sunday anyway.

Wow! Who knew birds had such a long gestation period. I am Googling for a picture of the “common transportation bill” but am having trouble finding it. I am reading that it is native to larger cities with high density, however.
