A North Carolina ad that’s likely to keep Jim Marshall on the fence

You know about the TV ad that Republicans in North Carolina are running, which links two white Democratic candidates for governor with the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, through the person of Barack Obama.

In essence, the North Carolina ad is intended to force Democrats to drive a wedge between the African-American surge generated by Obama and the white swing voters who are just as necessary for Democratic victories in the South.

Think about the implications for Georgia.

Skip the U.S. Senate race for now — that contest has yet to prove itself close enough to matter. But at least one of two white Democratic congressmen could be vulnerable to a similar ad in November.

U.S. Rep. John Barrow of Savannah has endorsed Obama, though — fortunately for him — Republicans in the 12th District have yet to rally behind a single, financially viable candidate.

On the other hand, now you begin to understand why U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall has been so reluctant to make a public choice between Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Marshall is the only elected Georgia Democrat with superdelegate status who hasn’t picked a side in the presidential contest. The North Carolina ad is likely to reinforce his indecision — as a tactic that deprives Republicans of a clear target.

If you haven’t seen the North Carolina spot, here’s the YouTube version.

wrightad.jpg

“For 20 years Barack Obama sat in his pew listening to his pastor,” begins the ad, paid for by the North Carolina Republican party.

Then comes the familiar clip of Wright saying, “No, no, no. Not God bless America.” Et cetera, et cetera.

Republican John McCain has asked the state party to yank it. Ben Fry, spokesman for the Georgia Republican party, said, “We’ve been asked by the McCain campaign not to go down that road. Behind the scenes, it’s been reiterated, do not do this. It’s not a wink-wink, nod-nod.”

But in this day of 527s, it’s hard to guarantee that Wright won’t make a local appearance.

On the other hand, North Carolina has a history of racially edgy TV spots. The “hands” ad used by U.S. Sen. Jesse Helms to beat back a 1990 challenge by Harvey Gantt, remains one of the most controversial in American political history.

Good. Great. I whole heartedly support linking Barack Obama to his minister. I support my party pointing out that Rev Wright is a racist lunatic and that Obama trusted him so much that he let Rev Wright marry him and baptize his children. He respected him so much that he sat in the pew of Rev. Wright’s church to 20 years. I think it is also helpful to remind voters that Rev. Wright advised Obama on his presidential campaign, until 2 months ago. This is fair game. Barack said so himself on Sunday. What is with all these roosting chickens?

Don’t be such an idiot and stop trying to make more out of this than it is. You act as if Sen. Obama was the only one in the pew. Even Rev. Wright said that he was not a frequent attendee. You are acting as if all Sen. Obama has done for the past 20 years (and people change an awful lot in 20 years)was sit and listen to Rev. Wright! Also, in a congregation of 8,000 - how many people walked out? How many Catholics walked out because of Priest molesting children? You belong to a church because of what the church as a whole is doing, not because of the pastor. The pastor just gives the sermon, the people keep the church together and it seems to me that those 8,000 people are doing a heck of a job!! If you were not already a racist (a person who believes they are superior to another person just because of the color of their skin) you would possess the awareness that would logically bring you to the same conclusion.

I will not be lectured by some lib democrat on race, Diva. The race card has been played on your side. Not mine. Racism and sexism are a part of the democrat primary. Not the Republican. We Republicans have every right to point it out. As far as Rev. Wright/Omaba, we conservatives have every right to point that out as well. For far too long, you guys have attacked any conservative that was associated with Falwell or Robertson. What is good for the goose, right? Sorry, but this is chess, not checkers, ‘mam. It’s astonishing that this type of ad “sways” anyone at all, and even more astonishing that NC GOP is still out there with the “southern strategy” using the same old racist tropes from its past. No wonder the yankees still ridicule us. If we fall for this vile tactic, we deserve it.

The GOP is “too extreme” for this Tarheel.

Rev Jeremiah Wright fought on NUMEROUS occasions for the RIGHT to voice his opinions. Which President in office has done that? Rev Wright has NUMEROUS commendations as a war hero. This country stands on the shoulders of him and MANY others so that we can have freedom of RELIGION, BELIEF, and SPEECH. Not just when it is applicable to WHITE people.

I have not heard of ONE leader distancing themselves from the child-raping Catholic denomination. No one has asked any legislator to stop attending MASS. BILLIONS are being spent to pay out to the victims of those crimes, yet I don’t hear anyone saying ‘distance yourself’ from that organization.

Obama disappoints me greatly. He HAD my vote until now. If you are gonna turn tail and run everytime someone disagrees with a member of your team or peers, how will our contry survive? You can be married and have children together and won’t agree with that person you eat with every day. Why should people expect Obama to agree with everything Wright has said?

This is the OLDEST of DA MASTA’S tactics..DIVIDE and conquer. Keep ‘them fighting’ among themselves and they won’t be able to unite and accomplish anything.

Does anyone believe that Collin Powell agreed with everything our President has said or done? I am sure the President was not thrilled with Cheney on a number of ‘trigger’ occasions. But that does not mean disassociate.

America is arrogant. We LOVE to cover issues arround the globe on how other countries are underdeveloped, and what frailities they have to work on. But when our skeletons are dug up and we are forced to draw attention to our own backyard, its considered un-American to mention it. BULL!

This country has REPEATEDLY and still does hold discriminating practices against African-Americans. THAT IS NOT A DANG SECRET! We marginalize crimes of Whites and Blacks are routinely locked up for minor infractions for longer periods of times. Barbie-bandits INDEED! Don’t hate the messenger, hate the TRUTH behind the message. Hate that in 2008, race is still a issue. Hate that in 2008, we are just now SERIOUSLY considering a black (half-white) candidate. Hate that in 2008, it’s the first time a WOMAN candidate has been taken seriously; and all this on the heels of the BUSH chaos!

We should be glad to have ANYONE want to come behind this administration. We will be paying for more than 20 years for the mistakes made during his tenure.

Wright chose the WRONG time to express his views because Main-stream AMERICA can’t handle the truth. But Obama is way more disappointing than Wright. A punk saddens me. Be able to stand when criticized. Don’t back away from people God places in your life; sometimes its for THEIR benefit and sometimes its for yours; but either way…don’t punk out when the criticisms come. It’s amazing how we call truth HATE when the shoe is on the other foot about attrocities done to African-Americans. Different does not mean defficient! His manner of speech may not appeal to you; but listen to the message and get the POINT. No one is any better than the other; we are just different and approach issues differently. But WE HAVE ISSUES that need to be addressed; as Americans..we are not with out sin and should NOT be casting stones anywhere!

Will people stop playing the race card? We know the guy is black… so what? All people really want to know is the facts, not all the dirt you can dig out from underneath his fingernails. What will he do for the country, what does he believe, what does he stand for, so QUIT skirting the issue by playing the “race card.”

And **WHY** do people keep yelling at each other like 2-year olds!? Half of you sound like my little sister when she doesn't get her way! As someone who will be voting in the next election, why don't you have a care for our COUNTRY instead of only your own interests!? I'm sorry to be harsh, but together we stand or fall, not "Republicans fall, Democrats rise," or vice versa. I just wish we could all stop yelling at each other and gain some perspective.

It’s an error to link the comments of Jeremiah Wright to Barack Obama. If any you happen to link the two men by the comments of either, it clearly speaks to your ignorance of the Negro psyche.

When an ethnic group has no credible institutions to depend upon for survival, integration is to blame, individuals within that group must develop a psyche which is acceptable to people who have institutions in order that their basic needs can be serviced, food, clothing, shelter, education, employment, etc. Psychologically, life and death is dependent upon everybody coming together. Nothing in their world can be or appear divisive or extreme because that would threaten their physical and mental survival. Barack Obama’s psyche was developed in such a world.

Jeremiah Wright was born in a time affording him the opportunity to develop a psyche to be extreme on positions, right or wrong, hot or cold. The black institutions that he depended upon during his lifetime afforded him the opportunity to think freely without the threat of being deprived of the institutional support of other groups.

There is a great gulf between the psyche and thinking of the man Jeremiah Wright and that of Barack Obama. But consequently, they both happen to be integrationist which is antithetical to the psyche of the masses of African Americans

Some believe we live our lives and “become our name”: Nominal predeterminism.

Jeremiah Wright speaks as a prophet, by right, and by his name: wrighting right, by G-d Almighty.

America was founded by Whigs intimately familiar with the Prophet Isaiah, whom Rev. Wright follows.

Those taking issue with Senator Obama’s former minister would serve well themselves, their posterity, and their sense of American patriotism by reading the Book of Isaiah from start to finish: it is the outline used by Our Founders in creating the United States of America, determining Our Mottoes, and recognizing the worldly evil and perversion that is the enemy of freedom and love everywhere.

There is only One Creator G-d. Annuit Coeptis applies to E Pluribus Unum Americans, new and old, from near or far, regardless of nation of origin/birth “cell”/tribe/clan or prior race; for there is only the American Race in Our Nation. Those who sow division are servants of evil and are traitors to America’s Dream.

Those who deny Rev. Wright deny Isaiah and G-d’s received prophecy.

America is the prophesied New Israel into which “all nations of the world flow.” E Pluribus Unum

As we bless G-d, Annuit Coeptis, shall we be blessed.

We are now living under a curse.

Senator Obama’s anointing is being tested, as this opportunity is being granted by the Invisible Hand to all Americans to set aside the distortions and lies of the Anti-Christ now ruling over us, so obviously.

Deniers, naysayers and servants of evil now trying to use Rev. Wright’s honesty and faithfulness as a cudgel to attack the anointed Barack Obama must be recognized as the agents of Rome’s Fifth Column they are.

They ran the slave trade for 2,000 years.

They have institutionalized homosexuality and child rape, revealed of late in Austria, again.

They brought us Hitler and Nixon for the Holocaust and to kill John Kennedy to put us in Vietnam.

They cheated this draft-dodging closet-queen into the White House to commit 9-11 to send us to die for oil, heroin and the Saudis.

Those who support Bush and Cheney…and Hillary and McSame…are part and parcel of the same evil which is reducing us to a Third World Country.

Obama must be made Elect by the People. We must see that Reverend Wright is only speaking G-d’s Truth and that Babylon must be cast into the Pit by Us.

Cynthia McKinney would be honored to be related to Rev Wright. Michael Moore would be too. Anyone with the guts to tell the truth should be. The whole Bush administration has been about cover ups and lies; from emails missing and being deleted to weapons of mass destruction not being found. And where the hell is Bin Laden? Changing one of the oil barrels for Bush?

We need to stay focused on the issue. GET BUSH and HIS type out of the White House and put people (not parties) in place that will focus on bringing jobs that pay above minimum wage back to this country, bringing our troops home, providing medical care to our citizens, and finding out just how the hell our taxes are being used; because our local Police, Fireman and teachers sure are not being compensated for what they are worth.

I don’t give a FAT MANS fart what church Obama or Hillary attend. What church was Bush attending when he watched Hussein hang? Has any President of this country been tried for the attrocities that happened to its citizens in this country? I THINK NOT. Took nearly a dang century to get an apology; and then it was issued with the ‘clause’ not to expect reparations.

Give ME A BREAK! The leadership of this country has been wack; but it can be corrected if we stop bickering about BULL. Bush has served no one except the rich; every middle class person has been affected by his administration; white and black. We need someone that can literally turn back the hands of time, and repair the enormous damage that has been done for the past 8 years. What church the elected attended means little when measured against the issues currently on the table.

Obama is being ill-advised to focus on Wright and his rhetoric and attempting to appease the ‘media’ and that gives the Clinton campaign breathing room to win when she was not slated to do.

Churchill, I know that you are just like the ‘media’; focused on bull and not solutions that can bring this nation back to where it needs to be for survival.

This election is between Hillary and Obama; not the CHURCH AND HILLARY; not the Church and Obama; not Wright and Obama. The election is not even between you and I…so if you disagree or don’t like something I said..great..due to men like Wright who fought in several wars.. you have the right to read my comments, respond in-kind or ignore them altogether…ain’t freedom great?

Hillary was never gonna win…she desperately needs this ‘distraction’ to pull ahead of Obama. Too many people hated Bill Clinton to vote for Hillary. Too many DEM and REPUB’s did not want to see him back in the White house…but this distraction has given her just enough breathing room to look more feasible. Know more than you? LOL No comment.

Here is the dirty little secret, Anita. Obama never had this nomination wrapped up. Hillary is going to do everything she can, including exploiting the Rev. Wright deal with the Superdelegates, to get the nomintion. You do not understand the Clinton’s. Think about this, a Clinton supporter, on the speaker committee of the National Press Club, facilitated Rev. Wright’s speech yesterday. Now ask yourself, is it easier for Clinton to run aginst McCain or Obama in 2012? She will steal this nomination, and if she can’t she will take Obama out of the race this year and any future Presdential nomination races. Personally, I cannot wait to see this play out. Peace.

MY FELLOW “BITTER”, STUPID, WORKING CLASS PEOPLE :-)

If you think like Barack Obama, that WORKING CLASS PEOPLE are just a bunch of “BITTER”!, STUPID, PEASANTS, Cash COWS!, and CANNON FODDER. :-(

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think Barack Obama with little or no experience would be better than Hillary Clinton with 35 years experience.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can fix an economy on the verge of collapse better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) led the greatest economic expansion, and prosperity in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience fighting for universal health care can get it for you better than Hillary Clinton. Who anticipated this current health care crisis back in 1993, and fought a pitched battle against overwhelming odds to get universal health care for all the American people.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience can manage, and get us out of two wars better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) went to war only when he was convinced that he absolutely had to. Then completed the mission in record time against a nuclear power. AND DID NOT LOSE THE LIFE OF A SINGLE AMERICAN SOLDIER. NOT ONE!

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience saving the environment is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) left office with the greatest amount of environmental cleanup, and protections in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with little or no education experience is better than Hillary Clinton. Whose ;-) husband (Bill Clinton) made higher education affordable for every American. And created higher job demand and starting salary’s than they had ever been before or since.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that Obama with no experience will be better than Hillary Clinton who spent 8 years at the right hand of President Bill Clinton. Who is already on record as one of the greatest Presidents in American history.

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think that you can change the way Washington works with pretty speeches from Obama, rather than with the experience, and political expertise of two master politicians ON YOUR SIDE like Hillary and Bill Clinton..

You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you think all those Republicans voting for Obama in the Democratic primaries, and caucuses are doing so because they think he is a stronger Democratic candidate than Hillary Clinton. :-)

Best regards

jacksmith… Working Class :-)

p.s. You Might Be An Idiot! :-)

If you don’t know that the huge amounts of money funding the Obama campaign to try and defeat Hillary Clinton is coming in from the insurance, and medical industry, that has been ripping you off, and killing you and your children. And denying you, and your loved ones the life saving medical care you needed. All just so they can make more huge immoral profits for them-selves off of your suffering…

You see, back in 1993 Hillary Clinton had the audacity, and nerve to try and get quality, affordable universal health care for everyone to prevent the suffering and needless deaths of hundreds of thousands of you each year. :-)

Approx. 100,000 of you die each year from medical accidents from a rush to profit by the insurance, and medical industry. Another 120,000 of you die each year from treatable illness that people in other developed countries don’t die from. And I could go on, and on…

Anita - It was Hillary, Rockefeller’s main “horse” in the Democratic side of his “stable,” who was intended to win.

Though a junior member of Rockefeller’s “club,” the Council on Foreign Relations, therefore not to be “hit” by the “ruling class,” as were John and Martin, Barack’s success, to this point, gives us “ignorant masses” the desired false sense of confidence in electoral politics, when it is fully confirmed that 2000 was fraudulent, thanks to the Catholics on the Supreme Court and the “Brooks Brothers Riot” in Florida; and 2004 stolen in Ohio, per the GAO.

Carter served the same purpose.

While Obama as president would do much good…just because of his apparent grace and obvious color…his lack of demonstrated character in the Rev. Wright matter is troubling.

Wright is clearly right in his view from prophecy. He demonstrates a firm grasp of the scripture and applies it righteously to American society…even pulling a punch or two, to “get out the message,” when he certainly could go farther with complete moral, and criminological, justification. Eighty percent of us know, with absolute moral certainty, that Bush and Cheney committed the abominable treason of 9-11.

America, like the ancient Israel against whom Isaiah was prophesying, has forsaken G-d. There can be no greater proof than the identified Anti-Christ’s fully hypocritical homosexual draft-dodger in the White House, and all the treason and crimes he’s known to have committed.

McCain and Hillary are fronting for the same Fifth Column fascist faction.

Were it only that Obama lacks the facility to translate Wright’s truth to combat the greater ignorance in our nation, so easy for one who knows the truth of prophetic wisdom and the teachings of Our Founding Fathers, it would be bad enough.

Unfortunately his rejection of Wright and denial of Wright’s simple righteousness suggests G-d may be intending for us to be further reduced, as a nation, under McCain…until All the People come to know the truth of prophecy and acknowledge, in pain and privation, the real presence of Anti-Christ upon us…before the Beast can be cast into the Pit, finally, by the American People and the broader world.

Tough times ahead. Obama’s only 47? His failure to support and amplify Wright’s G-d-sent truth is extremely disappointing…but it helps to explain why the Fifth Column hasn’t seen the need to “silence” him.

For posterity’s sake, we must do better as a People.
