Cardwell’s video about Martin and the U.S. Senate race

Only a few minutes ago, Jim Martin became the first Democrat in the U.S. Senate race to officially put his name on the July primary ballot.

More details on that in a few minutes. But first, let me draw your attention to this video that Dale Cardwell, the former TV journalist and one of Martin’s Democratic rivals, has posted on YouTube.

cardwellmartin.jpg

Obviously, Cardwell is trying to triangulate his way into a run-off.

He doesn’t have much money — $17,892 in cash on hand, compared with $333,131 for Martin and $256,031 for DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones.

In the video, Cardwell refers to a meeting that he and Martin had last fall.

“Jim’s spokesman recently acknowledged that, yes, Jim did look Dale in the eye and say that he would not be running. Well, Jim’s changed his mind now, and that is his right,” Cardwell says.

Back then, Cardwell says he asked Martin for an endorsement and a check. Martin refused, saying he didn’t want to get involved.

Says Cardwell in the video:

“He said he didn’t want to work against his old friend, Vernon Jones. He said he and Vernon were in the Legislature together, and that they had known each other a long time. And he said, ‘Dale, I’m must going to stay neutral.’”

Continues Cardwell:

“Folks, if you can’t find the courage or the integrity to stand up for a good, honest Democrat against Vernon Jones — a man who will proudly tell you he voted for George Bush twice — then where’s Jim going to get the backbone to take on Saxby Chambliss?

isn’t Dale Cardwell the candidate who spent New Years sitting on a pole downtown?

I think he sat on a roof. My favorite part is when he says he doesn’t accept PAC money….HAHAHAAA buddy you can’t “accept” any money when it isn’t even offered to you! This guy is humiliating to the party. Anyone who accuses Jim Martin of lacking “courage” hasn’t been paying attention to Georgia politics for the past twenty years.

Vernon Jones voted for Bush, twice? If Vernon’s never-married status, rape charges and coverup weren’t enough to remove him from consideration for Georgia, voting for Bush/Cheney ices it: he’s out and needs to go away.

Cardwell has done his cause well by outing Martin in the video. Dale backs Obama and that’s who America needs this year. Martin looks tired and worn. Let’s get behind Dale for U.S. Senate. He’ll make Georgia proud to be rid of Gannon’s “lapdog” Bush-pal Chambliss.

Has Martin ever mustered the courage to speak out against Bush’s treason and false war? No.

Has he spoken out against Bush’s attempted destruction of the American Working Class? No.

Martin’s a pal of Vernon Jones? Yes.

‘nuff said.

It’s sooo simple!
Dale Cardwell is a true, working family advocate/Democrat who had the courage to take on Saxby Chambliss last Summer, when NO ONE thought Saxby Shameless could be beaten! Wake up people! Jim Martin has been pushed into the race by and handful of Atlanta lawyers who didn’t want to back an independent voice like Cardwell. (Source: Martin’s disclosure shows nearly ONE HALF of his money came from one special interest group: Atlanta-centric trial lawyers) Why are Georgia’s Democratic “insiders” afraid of Cardwell?
Because he’s pledged to work ONLY for everyday Georgians.

Martin looks out only for himself. He went back on his word to Dale after the Democrats in Washington offered him a bribe to get in this race and save it from his “dear friend” Vernon Jones.

Jim Martin is a liberal opportunist who cares nothing for his fellow democrats.

Jim Martin cares about Jim Martin only. It is truly sad to watch.

Will Jones, you have been consistent in your support of Dale (Like my hairdo?) Cardwell for a number of months. Time for a reality check.

Notice, Will, how many folks even care to comment on Galloway’s posting about Dale’s video. After nearly four hours, there were four, and two of them were yours.

Give it up, Will. If you can’t rally behind Martin, then the next best thing you can do for the party is to keep quiet and join Dale on his next expedition up a pole.

Now, the rest of us Democrats have got to figure out a way to make sure voters realize what a disaster Draft Dodger Saxby has been.

At a time in our lives when experience is undoubtedly the MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR in these elections, why oh why, would we elect a former news anchor with a tendency to climb poles and/or roofs? For those people who claim “Martin looks out for Martin”, I suggest that you take the time away from idealistically cheering on idiot savante candidates likes Dale or Rand, and read up on Martin’s bio. This is a man who spent his entire life serving his country, and moreover, his state. He has never taken the easy road and when those lawyer you speak of tried to recruit him to their big firms, he chose to work in legal aid instead. Alternatively, this is a man who served in Vietnam while Dale Cardwell and Rand were still suckling their mother’s breast. This is a man who has actually RUN A STATEWIDE campaign. I won’t waste my breath on Vernon because if you vote for someone like that then you don’t even matter in my book. To claim that fundraising means nothing, you are clearly a political novice who most likely supported/supports Ralph Nader. Good luck dumbass.

George Clements - As an American Independent supporting Barack Obama and all who support him, and suspecting you’re Fifth Column papist(like the rest of the false-elite “Dems” supporting Hillary or McCain); know you’ve used ad hominem in the past on this blog and, therefore, am not really concerned with what you say or who you actually are, having lived in Atlanta for thirty years and, to my recollection, never met or heard of you or your people: Dale Cardwell came out early and strong for Obama, is a relatively local product and seems to be sincere.

Vernon Jones strikes me as fully deficient. That he voted for JFK’s-assassin’s homosexual draft-dodger son - who went on to commit 9-11, and has, at his age, never married, rules him out as a man and as a candidate for public office.

Martin is Johnny-come-lately in this race, Cardwell outs him for lacking probity and ties him to Vernon, and, unless Cardwell does something wrong, Martin is not in the running, despite his being a legitimate Vet.

Obama is the key this time around. Cardwell pegged it. Martin was slow…just like everyone else who still tolerates the traitor in the White House and his stooges in government - national, state, and local.

Respect to you if you’re using your given name…would be surprised if you claim to be not papist.

George, George, George …, Has Jim paid you a visit to listen to your insightful ramblings on how to win this race? Huh? If he has, great! If he hasn’t, go back to the coffee shop and pontificate there.

Hey Hotlanta, You stupidly said, “He has never taken the easy road and when those lawyer you speak of tried to recruit him to their big firm.” This is the guy who worked for Perdue and knowingly wouldn’t fix computers so needy Georgians couldn’t get some relief. Why? to save some budget money and his cushy job. You also ignorantly ranted, “This is a man who has actually RUN A STATEWIDE campaign.” YOu forgot the HE LOST part. Shameless will have a light lunch of Jim. Jim has too many weaknesses. Look at him. He doesn’t make eye contact. He looks as if he were somewhere else. Now “Hotlanta”, you are truly the dumbest of asses.

Will somebody please tell this guy that he’s not on the local news anymore!! He sounds like a total fool with that silly “local reporter voice.” Then again, maybe a guy who sits on top of a billboard to get attention (when the only people watching the webcast were his opponents staff while sharing a chuckle on their lunch break) does not care about sounding like a fool. He has done plenty to prove that he is a fool! Seriously, does anyone take this guy serious??

Hey ActionNews! The answer is YES!

“Yes”, somebody has told him? Did he just choose not to take their advice? I mean, it really makes him sound like a moron! I live in a very networked and community involved area of town. My neighbors had a cocktail party last weekend and, of course, politics came up. The crowd was about 60% Democrat and 40% Republican. 3 of the 20 attendees had heard of Dale and they all said the same thing. Some variation of - “Is that the guy who talks like he’s covering an apartment fire on the local news?” or “Isn’t that the guy who sat on top of the billboard a while back? Funny thing is that now he IS known by the other 17ish folks who had never heard of him before that night – he is known as the guy who sat on the billboard. Oh, and they all thought he did it to protest the war. But, what people really had a good time with was his “cheesy local news” voice. So, “somethn stinks” – do you know what he said when they told him?

Rather than spend our time and energy bashing hapless Cardwell — and each other — suppose we all turn our attention to the key issue, namely how do we convince Republican-leaning voters to help us get rid of the Draft Dodger.

I will support whomever gets the Democratic nomination, if for no other reason than to pay Saxby back for the despicable campaign he ran against Cleland six years ago.

We could all assist in that process by using our real names in this blog and by not denigrating others. Even though I think Cardwell is a lightweight, I still must acknowledge the fact that he has entered the race.

Those of you who hide behind phony names and make often outrageous comments probably have never done something that both Cardwell and I have done. We’ve run for elective office.

You are not going to win, Dale, but congratulations for having the guts to try.
