Does Spier’s decision pave the way for Bubba McDonald’s return?

You’ve heard that Angela Speir has decided not to run for a second term on the Public Service Commission.

The consumer advocate, who spent hardly a dime in her 2002 victory over Democrat incumbent Lauren “Bubba” McDonald, served Georgia political analysts well — as a kind of baseline measure for Republican support in Georgia.

With Speir headed out, there’s now word that McDonald, a 1990 candidate for governor, has been making calls this morning, contemplating a comeback — as a Republican.

McDonald made his party switch back in 2004, with an unsuccessful challenge to state Sen. Bill Stephens.

I for one would like to see a true Republican run, not a democratic, party switching, incumbant Republican challenging, RINO like Bubba McDonald.

Our 9th District Chair Kevin Harris would make a great addition to the Board!

It is Bush’s fault that people can’t sniff jockstraps. I hate Bush.

We someone to counter-balance Stan Wise, who openly prostitutes himself for the utility companies. A truly despicable man.

Here is what Bubba is saying in the calls he has been making to the lobbyists: “I need another trip to Scotland. Will give $100 million in ratepayer money to any utility that can provide it.”

Voters with short memories get what they deserve.

I’ve known Lauren M. “Bubba” McDonald for the past 40 years & there’s not a more dedicated person in Government today. He’s a true Georgian & he always looks out for the best interests of everyday Georgians. My favorite thing about Bubba McDonald is that his word is his bond. He will always have my support no matter what he may chose to run for in the future, although I’d be much happier if he were still on the Democratic Ticket, since he made Georgia into what it is today. Good Luck My Friend.

Mr. Mcdonald has, from what I understand, probably the best record in our state for quality leadership. If his timing wasn’t bad, he would have been our governor instead of Joe Frank Harris. If his timing wasn’t bad, he would have been our U. S. Senator instead of Max Cleland. If switching parties hadn t been bad at the time, he would already have a seat on the PSC….

People love him and rightfully so….Mr. Mcdonald is one of the rare politicians in the state that stills operates the way the politicians of old did..the people come first…not an ego.

I have known “Bubba” all my life (50 years). A kind and generous family man who stands up for what is right.

Just as Democrat Zell Miller said during the REP convention. DEMS have changed their core beliefs from what they once were. Now Lauren as have many Democrats of old days, have switched to the party that best represents their ideology, that happens to be the GOP.

I am proud to cast my vote for Lauren “Bubba” McDonald for PSC, I know the people of Georgia.
