Suddenly, a Democratic primary fight for John Barrow
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Savannah was buzzing this weekend with the news that state Sen. Regina Thomas, a Democrat, would forego her place in the Legislature in order to take a July primary crack at U.S. Rep. John Barrow.
Here’s the Savannah Morning News article.
“This is not about John Barrow,” she said, “but about what I can do for the people of the 12th Congressional District. I like John, but I think I can do a better job.”
Heretofore, Barrow had been having an easier time than U.S. Rep. Jim Marshall, the other white Georgia Democrat perennially challenged by Republicans.
But an internal Democratic challenge will make Barrow spend at least some of the $1.3 million he’s got stored up for a general election fight — a boon to the Republican who faces him November.

A complete waste of time by Regina Thomas. Barrow will get 80 to 90% of the vote in the district. She’s only going to embarrass herself.

… Sounds awfully presumptuous, Progressive voters are energized this year and are shattering all kinds of expectations. And John Barrow ain’t a progressive, given the pandering voting record he has compiled in an attempt to stave off Republican challengers. I wish Sen. Thomas the best, with the hopes that we will finally have a Democrat from the 12th District.

thats just crazy. the ga dem party is already getting labeled the party for black people which is why we keep losing elections. I hope John Barrow wins. the republicans have pushed this agenda and it worked. Look at all legal problems members of our legislature are experiencing. All black members. I’m black but understand the reality to make sure we push a democratic agenda with helps all people.

Too bad Dennis Kucinich doesn’t live in Georgia. Now that would be progressive. :)
