Cagle on Richardson: ‘He tried to bully his way through the process’

Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle was silent in the hours after the Legislature melted down and dripped home last week.

But in the last few days, he’s been out and around, giving his side of the story, and responding to House Speaker Glenn Richardson’s Friday night taunts. (Gov. Sonny Perdue offers his first insights this afternoon.)

On Monday, Cagle wasn’t willing to address Richardson’s call for a new lieutenant governor. This morning, Cagle was on WGAU (1340AM) in Athens, where host Tim Bryant let Cagle, for the first time, hear exactly what Richardson said.

It loosened the lieutenant governor up a bit. Listen to it here.

Richardson, said Cagle, is a fellow “who began the session with not agreeing with the governor so he tried to bully his way through the process with 12 overrides.

“Then he didn’t get his way with the DOT race, and he tried to unseat incumbent board members. This is kind of the way he approaches things.”

And there’s more about Cagle’s side on tax cuts as well.

“no one is more committed to tax cuts than i am”….except for those who actually try to cut taxes!

cagle is a fraud. he wanted to kill the tax cuts from the beginning and he ultimately did by playing his little games.

Cagle, spin all you like but you are not going to come on top on this one. Richardson is arrogant and probably overstayed his welcome as Speaker but what Cagle did to the people of Georgia and his party is awful.

What Richardson did was stupid by trying to pull members but isn’t that the same thing Sonny did last year when he pulled several committes from reps who voted to override Sonny’s veto of the budget?

As a Republican, I am very disappointed to have voted for this Lt. Governor.

Just remember next year when you receive your Tag notice to thank Lt. Gov Cagle for it continuing to be ridiculously high. Just hope you don’t open it on Sunday because you won’t be able to run to grab a 6 pack to ease the pain. LOL

I disagree totally with your comments. Richardson has practiced no leadership efforts and has in fact become the bully of the playground. The only ones more needful of replacing are his minions in the House who do what ever he says and in effect stop representing their communities and just become another vote for Richardson’s folly. I sure hope they all either quit or get defeated as they simply played the fiddle while Georgia burned.

As to Cagle, maybe his communication abilites and tools are not all that good but in effect he did right by teh cities and counties of this state. For too long the House and Senate have created huge holes of revenue that the local governments have had to fill. To take away evenue while at the same time requiring local governments to fund the services is asinine at best.

Richardson is an arrogant, and some time ignorant, person who uses force and not consensus. A mistake was made when he was placed in that position and the mistake will continue unless he is removed.

I ahve not always agreed with Perdue but at least he has protected the executive branch of our state government from someone who is high on political pandering like Richardson.

A bully doesn’t leave the house floor and work to get a compromise bill out of committee and ready for a vote. A bully stays where he is and refuses to let the bill come to the floor for a vote. Kiss my Bumper Cagle!

Both of them screwed over the state. Instead of actually working together, both stood their ground like 8 year olds on the playground refusing to work out differences. Both should be beated senselessly with a wide leather belt and have their toys taken away from them. Grow up “leaders”! Now thanks to both, tax cuts are shelved whether on paychecks or autos. Now our high quality teachers get a raise and we’re stuck with higher debt issues, a crappy DOT, and two leaders within the same party who need to be locked in a room with pistols to fight it out.

Cagle sounds like the reasonable one here. (what does that tell you about the process?)

It is apparent that Cagle is nothing more than Sonny’s yes man. No way Sonny is going to let money go away from the government without a big fight. He’s not that far removed from being a Pro-Government Democrat.

Y’all seem upset that they didn’t get much done! I say the best government (we can expect) is one that is too busy politickin to get anything passed.

Overall I’d say they done pretty good this year. Though I’m none to pleased about the TAD issue and still no sunday sales.

Once again the Speaker is outclassed by Cagle,at some point one would think the Speaker would tire of the annual beat down by the Gov or Lt Gov.I have nothing personal against the Speaker, but his leadership and constant attacks on fellow Republicans leave much to be admired. Cagle is dead on, the tag tax elimination was more feel good politics than actual sound tax policy.

See. The libs are mad. They can’t help it. You see, they were on the verge on winning in November, but now their party is rife with racism and turmoil. They know I am right about the potential for riots in Denver when Hillary tries to steal the nomination fro Barack. So what do they do? Do they try to unite their party and save victory? No. They return to their default attacks on Bush and attempt to insult those with whom they disagree. I love this!!! Peace.

Ps. Why do the libs want to muzzle my free speech rights? Is is because they think I have not served in the military? Or is because some of what I post hits too close to home?

ppss. Thank you for your service, Vietnam Vet, you’re a great American.

Sorry about little Richie,he has been a bulley from birth and always throws a hissyfit if he does not get his way (ask his ex).

I also apologize for the entire bunch of losers at the Capitol as they always take the advice and payoffs from their crooked lobbyist buds to the detriment of us poor taxpayers. Look how the insurance crooks paid them off this year to allow our rates to rise.

Also look how the jerks did nothing to help us if we are badly injured. If you cannot be taken to Grady,Macon,Augusta you are out of luck with your life. Perhaps the trauma centers should have also paid these crooks off.

And just why do we need the office of Lt. Governor? Casey needs to save the state money by introducing a bill to get rid of the office of Lt. Governor. He should spend his time trying to save his banks (Sun Trust can only cover your rear end so many times)

A wise man once told me that the people would be much better off if the General Assembly only met once every 20 years for 30 minutes. This past session of the General Assembly sure proves him to be correct!
