Bob Barr set to explore his presidential possibilities on Saturday
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Peach Pundit has found this posting on the American Spectator blog, which says former Georgia congressman Bob Barr will launch his exploratory committee for the Libertarian presidential nomination on Saturday in Kanas City.
Says the AmSpec posting:
When former Rep. Bob Barr arrives in Kansas City on Saturday for the Heartland Libertarian Conference, organizers expect him to launch an exploratory committee for the Libertarian Party presidential nomination. Barr is meeting with his political team on Friday to firm up plans. Right now, he’s expected to fly into the city at about noon Saturday and address the conference in the early afternoon.
The Barr launch is getting to be an open secret among conference-goers. Advocacy Ink, the firm that handles Barr’s public relations, is advertising the speech to local and national reporters. Mike Ferguson, the de jure organizer of the conference, is scrambling to deal with a crush of new media requests.

While I do not agree with Bob Barr on everything, I do know that he was one of the best U.S. Attorneys when he served in Atlanta and I don’t question his integrity one bit. If he runs, then he gets my vote unless something drastic happens.

I hope that Bob Barr runs for the Libertarian Party Presidential nomination and wins it. The supporters of Ron Paul and a growing number of people who support adherence to the US Constition and individual freedom, will rally behind Mr. Barr. They are a very active and generous group of people and he could be competitive in the campaign. I know I would support him.

With the current crop of candidates - Obama, Hillary, and McCain - I will NOT vote in the presidential election for the first time in 35+ years. However, I think Bob Barr would be an EXCELLENT candidate, and if he decides to run, he will have my vote.

Hello President Obama!
Since Bob won’t work within the Republican party, he guarantees Obama will win just like when Perot allowed Clinton to win.
Bob is a spoiled brat who would rather let Obama win than fix the party himself.
What a looser!

I hope he runs as a candidate for the Libertarian and Constitution Party if he can.
I was hoping Lou Dobbs, Tom Tancredo, Duncan Hunter or Ron Paul would run 3rd Party. Bob Barr is very good on most constitutional issues and he is not a person who is unknown to 99% of the country.

Barr will not play the Perot role. The Democrats/Press, during the 90’s, villified him to complete and utter irrevelance. Perot did not have that. If a third party candidate will hurt one party or another, it will be Nader. Yes Nader, the perinial pain in the arse for Democrats.

I really wish Bob Barr would run for the Senate, we really need a conservative repesenting Georgia in Congress.

I probably wouldn’t vote for him (I disagree with many of Mr. Barr’s positions), but I welcome any candidate with something different to say and a new perspective to offer.

A vote for Bob Barr, no matter how much you would like him to be president, as I do, would be a vote for the Democratic Nominee, WHOWVER IT MAY BE. (A vote wasted)

Vote your heart and mind…There is no such thing as a wasted vote. And those of you who suggest that there is might as well go p** on George Washington’s grave.
This settling for less stuff is the exact reason the GOP and the country is in dissarray today. No more… My vote is for Barr or Paul

A vote wasted would be a luke-warm vote. And with me it would be voting any of the candidates in the current run excluding Ron Paul!

A vote for the “lesser of two evils” not only is still a vote for evil but is truly a wasted vote.
Good luck Mr Barr.

Adam12, whether he realizes it or not, is suggesting that we accept a permanent lesser-of-two-evils electoral process.
I don’t believe that’s our only option.

I am tired of the wasted vote argument. I will say a vote for McCain is a vote for the democrats, just as much as a vote for Barr would be.
The republicans think they can continually give us whatever candidate they choose and we will have to take it or settle for a democrat winning.
NO MORE! I will vote for Barr or possibly someone else, or, I will do a write-in. I will NOT vote for any of the three socialists we are being offered.

Mr. Barr? You may as well just skip the whole thing, throw the money you’d spend into the wind and usher in the Democratic President.

Go Bob Barr for The L, and Go Ron Paul for the R.
It’s going to be a tough toss up between the two,… I suppose I’ll have to wait till after the Republican Convention to see if they stubbornly choose McBush, or Ron Paul. If they choose Ron Paul, I’ll vote R. If Not, it looks like I’ll be an L this year.
