I think we’re all okay with common sense gun laws. Not drinking when carrying a weapon, sensible. Carrying a weapon on a train. Not so much.

I love it when our Legislators protect their own environment and leave the rest of us to fight it out. I’d have no problem with the “more guns, less crime” mentality if it applied to everyone. Open the State Capitol and Federal buildings to firearms traffic and I’ll endorse this nonsense.

Actually, this bill modification makes some sense. However, and this is coming from someone who is “pro-2nd ammendmant”, legally drunk OR taking mind altering drugs while carrying should be a mandatory 1-3 months in jail, period. Forget the fines, people don’t need to have a distorted view of reality when they have a gun in easy reach.

I thought it was already against the law for a concealed carry permit holder to be carrying concealed in any establishment that serves alcohol. So part 2 of the above language is basically grandstanding by a politician.

Finally we will get some common sense gun laws! Criminals are and do carry guns on MARTA and at MARTA facilities. The man shot near ansley mall this week was shot by someone waiting at a MARTA stop to ambush him.I also think its a good idea to allow people to bring guns to restaurants so long as they do not consume alcoholic beverages. What is the point of having a conceal carry permit if you can’t carry your weapon to and from a restaurant in downtown Atlanta? When are people going to understand that the vast majority of people with permits are nut gun nuts but just want to protect themselves?

FYI: The current law says no packing in an establishment serving alcohol…This new wording wipes that out, and says you CAN carry , but YOU may not drink while you carry in these places

Gun nut = coward

No way around it. All of the places they demand the bring their guns are low crime areas. Check out the crime stats for yourself instead of relying on your prejustices. OH NO, a 98 lbs black man asked me for change, I’m SCARED! MARTA, the transit system with a crime rate lower than Alpharetta and Peachtree City, scares me so much… I need to have a gun to comfort me. Maybe I’ll take it to Peachtree City to shoot those old folks in their golf cars since the crime rate is higher there. The world is so scary, please daddy, let me carry a gun to make me feel like a man.

You feel you need a gun because you’re at heart a coward and you know you’re a wimp. None of you are real men. None of you are real intelligent either since you are unable to evaluate risk and have to have someone else with an agenda do it for you.

You can reply to this however you wish, whine and protest that you aren’t a wuss but as much you bluster away, the rest of the world knows that you’re a coward. And somewhere deep down inside, you know it too and there is nothing in the world that hurts you more than that.

So get your guns, bring them with you to church, to work, to the day care center and all of the other places where you quiver in fear. No matter what you do, you’ll still be less of a man than even those living in France.

Well James, better be a nut than an ostrich. Keep your head in the sand and see if you dont get your a* shot!! I am a woman and have carried concealed 18 years and love every minute of it. As for men being cowards, you are. If guns were outlawed, only outlaws would have guns. It’s not the honest 2nd Amendment people who are the problem, it’s the criminals who make gun control what it is. FYI: definition of gun control: USE BOTH HANDS!!! Bet you wouldn’t mind if at Mcd’s someone was on a shooting spree and you were next and I shot and killed the suspect and saved your sorry a* now would you?. No, you would say, turn the other cheek. Please…I know the Bible in and out and lookup what God did for His people when they went to war. Glad your not my pansy neighbor or co-worker. Thank-you Jesus!!

James, you’re either an internet troll or you view the landscape through a very narrow set of blinders.

Here’s a question for you: Are Peace Officers cowards? I mean, they carry sidearms. Do they carry sidearms because they’re scared of life and living it? You think they carry a sidearm because they’re more likely to encounter a person with a gun than I am? Why? I walk the streets like they do. I enter businesses like they do. I drive surface streets in Atlanta like they do. Why are the odds of their needing a gun any higher than mine?

Are the armed security guards that accompany VIPs, heads of state, and guard buildings like the State Capitol cowards and, by association, those being protected cowards?

No. Firearms meet force with force. Criminals use firearms because firearms are relatively small, easily concealed and highly effective at what they do. Coincidentally, it’s for these same reasons I carry one to defend myself and others from those who would do me harm.

I carry a weapon because it’s my God-granted right that’s not to be infringed by anyone or any group who may try to repeal that liberty. I carry because crime happens every where, every day, no matter the venue or time of day; and it cannot be reliably predicted. Therefore, it’s only a matter of time before I, or someone I know, crosses paths with someone else intent on doing harm.

You’re cutesy ad hominem attack about how I fear a 98-pound pan handler doesn’t hold water… but you know that already, don’t you? A man entered a hospital in Columbus last week and murdered people there. A man shot another to death near a bank in mid-town Atlanta. I on occasion enter banks and hospitals. Why offer myself as a ready-made victim, when it’s such cheap and effective insurance to carry a sidearm to protect myself, my family and those around me?

Now - who gets to decide when it’s OK for me to protect myself, and when I have to disarm, jeopardizing my health and well-being? This building it’s OK, that building it’s a no-no? Where’s the logic in that?

Anyway, you’re apparently beyond hope or redemption. I feel sorry for you. Sorry you’re angry. Sorry you’re so afraid of people who mean you no harm that you feel compelled to ridicule them. The worst part is some day you or someone you hold dear (I won’t mention a loved one, I’m sure you’re not able to be loved) will be victimized by a violent offender, and all you’ll have is the regret that you didn’t prepare yourself as easily as I and hundreds of thousands of other Georgians have.

Good point GA Resident. Now how about this: let the lawmakers tell the world where we can not carry guns and see what happens? It’s like when I fenced in my animals but also fenced in a wolf. Easy prey, thats right. So, if I were a criminal, I would go locked and loaded to places and prey upon the lawabidding citizens who obey the law (and who are not allowed to carry at a particular place) and make my attack. Hmmm, why not put a sign on your door: Open, no weapons here, come get me, I’m James and Buckshot Bill! Wow, Buckshot, anti-guns, why use the name Buckshot? Must be you have pellets for brains. I guess the next time this 130 lb gal goes to save someone, I’ll ask their view on gun control first!!!!

People, Eliminate guns from society? Ever heard of the 2nd ammendment? What have you been smoking?

We all live in a real world NOT a perfect one. Alcohol was abolished and the criminal element established a foothold in society. Even bringing legal alcohol sales back didn’t undo the harm that the foolish abolisionist did. We don’t need to repeat history on that one.

I have one more input before I go to sleep to you all: Guns debates are like religion, and racism, you can argue to the cows come home or in this case, pansy men, and never satisify everyone. I don’t have an alarm system in my fancy home because my protection sleeps next to me. No, not my husband, my .38. I have homeschooled 2 wonder children who have shot guns since they were 6 and they respect the honor it is to carry one. They are 17 and 25 now. I never go looking for trouble, but if it comes looking for me, I’m prepared like an umbrella in a rainstorm. Nite guys, sleep well, I know I will!!

Buckshot Bill, What great knowledge do you possess that we mere Neanderthals don’t? I do not live in fear, but I do live in reality. I’ve personally witnesses a woman being beaten up by her boyfriend because she was tired and wanted to go to bed. I chased him off, but what if he had been carrying a weapon ILLEGALLY? Well…I could have been shot or worse.

I have read a great deal. I read about some of the things that have already been mentioned. A man shot at the Marta station, two people shot in a hospital in Columbus, someone shot at an Atlanta bank. The bad people of this world have no respect for human life, mine or yours. If you want to believe that we are mentally incapable of doing otherwise, then go right ahead. But take a look at violent crime rates in Britain after they outlaws hand guns (up 40%). Look at the crime statistics of Washington DC, with it’s gun laws that are currently the toughest in the US. I’ll give you a hint…they’re sky high.

Since you think we should “pick up some books”, you need to understand one thing very clearly. We, the pistol toting public you deride as being uneducated and fearful, are the very ones who aren’t afraid to save YOUR life!

Is it a gun society? We need to install weapon detectors at all entrance to public facilities rather have everyone to carry a gun in defense. How many times have you heard someone shoot a guy for defense? We need limit or eliminate all guns in publice places. To all gun carriers, watch out for being shot before you even draw your guns out. Don’t we have enough fatalities on college campuses? I know gun industry is a big item for this country. Revenue and taxes are too big to be ignored, but they are built on lives having been sacrifised.
