Acronyms are tiny, helpless creatures that should be treated with respect. They ought not be tortured.
But it is election season, and U.S. Rep. Paul Broun (R-Athens) has a tough primary ahead of him. The congressman has posted this idea on the Republican Study Committee web site:
“I am introducing the SOLDIER SUPPORT Act: Support Our Lads Deployed In Enemy Regions by Sending Useless Pet Projects Overseas to Reinforce our Troops.
“This legislation would authorize the President - as Commander in Chief - to transfer funding for any earmark listed in either the current FY08 Omnibus or the upcoming FY09 appropriations bills directly to war-related activities in Iraq and Afghanistan.”
Lads? Are the British still over there?

I wonder what MILFs think of acronyms. I used the term MILF once in mixed company, and I got the tongue lashing of my life. Never say “MILF”. Just keep it locked in the vault.

I don’t mind. In ten years I’ll be completely invisible anyway, (as is the American way for a woman over 50) and relegated to the realm of “Who does that b—-h think she is?” if I try to do anything with my life, like apply for an important job for which I’m qualified, for example. (Good jobs are for fresh young MEN and their pretty wives, doncha know?) Might as well enjoy the acronym now.

Women Over 50 Who Support Women Over 50 Simply Because They Are Women Over 50…
Not so much.
One example, “It will be 200+ years before we get another qualified female candidate.”
Well there was Ferraro…oh…wait.
Well maybe that is a valid argument.
There are, however, many capable women over 50 who support Barack Obama.

This is the dumbest idea ever. Republicans are the shortest-sighted dimwits on the planet. They’re willing to essentially make Congress irrelevant in their quest to please George Bush. What happens to ideas like this one when they wake up in November to a president who they’ll want to undermine? Not much if they’ve totally derailed the Constitution!
Isn’t this fool supposed to be some sort of “strick constitutionalist?” Kind of hard to be if you’ve obviously never read it!

Churchy how ‘bout the right for queers to marry or a punk to smoke some weed. I have a problem where you draw the line based upon your bible study class. Liberty?! i read in the Athens paper this morning that this quack is trying to outlaw all abortion. That isn’t any kind of liberty. That’s the state imposing on liberty. Your politicians want to force the Bible on everyone and call it liberty, but that’s theocracy. Paul Broun must go!
