Michelle Obama, her pride and ‘Beatlemania’: A sign of things to come

Already, we’re getting a taste of what’s in store for the next nine months. One side will insist on speaking in French. And the other will listen only in German.

The network was Fox, of course, the host was John Gibson, and the video clip showed Michelle Obama, wife of the Democratic presidential candidate, saying this:

“For the first time in my adult life, I am proud of my country, because it feels like hope is finally making a comeback.”

(Some news outlets quote her as saying “really proud,” but a video hiccup prevents us from settling the point.)

In any case, the first at Fox to rake over her words on Tuesday was Ralph Reed, the former Georgia GOP chairman:

“The reason why I think this isn’t going to go away, unless she apologizes quickly, is because it plays into a stereotype about the left wing of the Democratic Party, that it blames America first, that they don’t see the greatness of America, and it really makes me wonder if somebody who is roughly about Barack and Michelle’s age, what country she grew up in.

“I mean, I was proud of America when we won the Cold War and the Berlin Wall fell and the Soviet Union disintegrated. I was proud when we expelled Saddam Hussein from Kuwait. I was proud when we liberated 50 million people from the Taliban of Saddam Hussein. I was proud when we provided humanitarian aid to the victims of an earthquake in Iran and to a tsunami in Asia.

“I think the other thing it does is it plays into this weakness that’s developing that the Obama candidacy is sort of a modern political equivalent of Beatle mania rather than a legitimate aspiration to be commander-in-chief.”

Replied analyst Kirsten Powers: “In reference to that little speech that Ralph just gave, I mean why do people think that about liberals? It’s because people do what Ralph just did.

“They sit around and they claim that because apparently Ralph Reed and all his friends were marching around in excitement, the day that they remember that we won the Cold War, and she doesn’t rah-rah about it the way they do, that therefore she is not a proud American.

“Look this is a woman who is a mother, she is a lawyer, she’s not somebody who has been politically active as far as I can tell. If you’re asking what was she thinking when we won the Cold War when she was probably in law school, I don’t think it probably tells you that much about her.

“She has come out and she has clarified what she meant. Look, this is the front-runner. The fact of the matter is that she has been really lucky, I think that, she really hasn’t tripped up yet.”

Phony outrage is all the far right knows, and it’s the only trick they have left to them.

I don’t know who made the most rediculous statement, Michelle Obama or Kirsten Powers.

Both sound like ignorant politicos who haven’t learned the rules or propaganda yet i.e., don’t say what you mean, say what sounds the best.

Haven’t people noticed the striking resemblance of Ralph Reed to the doll of a ventriloquist? Not only physically but also in the lack of ideas? Is he a lawyer? Has he ever really made a buck for a honest day work? If he would remove his “christian” clothing, is there anything left???

her remark shows an arrogance that average americans will respond negatively to. too many apologies make a candidate appear insincere and obama’s past will require an abundance of apologies on top of those he’s already offered. obama is a facade whose layers will be peeled away by the repubs.

The reason you are not getting many comments is because most Obama supporters don’t get up in the morning to go to work. Maybe around noon when they are all at Starbucks doing nothing but spending their conservative parents hard earned money.

I love the usual “Fox, of course, comment. fox is about 50/50 liberal to conservative in its staff. In most modern media where staff is generally 98% liberal, I guess that does equate to “right wing bias.”

This is ridiculous- anybody with any sense understood what she was saying. This was not a literal since of her never being proud to be an American, but more to say that she is truly proud of America during this time, with what’s going on. I didn’t have a sense of pride because the berlin wall fell, or russia broke down. I was proud when people pulled together after 911, but was not proud with the way many looked to demonize anyone from the middle east. Think for yourselves- repubs are grasping at straws.

NBC ran that whole speech about “stereotypical left-wingers” - they said that Democrats “blame america first”? I mean, did they? I didn’t hear their report, but it sounds like Fox - not like something a responsible news organization would assert. If NBC did spin things like this in such a weird way, then - you are right. We should talk about NBC the way Fox is talked about. A news organization lacking dignity. If I’m wrong, I apologize. I just don’t see it.

Today with so much coppuption in Government and so much money devoted to aquiring a job that pays nothing in retrospect to the outlay, it shouldn’t suprise anyone what is said by these politians and their family members. Anyone who votes for a canidate for any other reason than what is best for our Country is themselves part of the problem! The solution is to hold all politians accountable for their actions and stop them from acting and doing their will rather that the will of the people.

Obama Lie #1:

On “Meet the Press” Jan. 22, 2006, Tim Russert and Sen. Obama had the following exchange:

Russert: “When we talked back in November of ‘04 after your election, I said, ‘There’s been enormous speculation about your political future. Will you serve your six-year term as United States senator from Illinois?’ Obama: ‘Absolutely.’”

Obama: “I will serve out my full six-year term. You know, Tim, if you get asked enough, sooner or later you get weary and you start looking for new ways of saying things. But my thinking has not changed.”

Russert: “So you will not run for president or vice president in 2008?”

Obama: “I will not.”

Obama Lie #2:

As Sen. McCain has pointed out, Obama promised to use public funding in the general election if the Republican candidate would do so also. Well, McCain has agreed to it, but now Obama wants to back out of the deal. After all, when he made the promise, he didn’t have a chance of raising more than the public’s $85 million stipend. But now that he can raise $300 million, well, what’s a little untruth between the waited-for one and his people? Yes, he can.

Obama Lie #3:

What else can he do? He can make a big point that his candidacy is not about race — which is a good thing. But then he can brag that his will be a “historic” election. We all assume he is not referring to his having lived in Hawaii. No, obviously he means being the first black president. But “it’s not about race.” Yes, he can.

I understand what she meant. I have always been proud to be an American but I have not always been proud of the things that America has done overseas. It’s kind of sad when allies we’ve had for 100s of years lose respect in the span of 7 years. It’s the fault of those in power.

I will vote for Obama if he becomes the Dem nominee. I will not vote for Hillary Clinton because I remember the Clinton era. Even the good that was done will forever be tarnished by scandal. This is also where the great divide between the parties began in my opinion.

I agree things are being blown out of proportion concerning Obama’s wife statements. You have to admit, didn’t the cynics dismiss Obama as a fairy tale, the black candidate whose demise from the party nomination was supposed to end at Super Tuesday! America is a great nation and despite the divides that people bring, when all is said and done most Americans are very reasonable and kind people. All Michelle was saying (in my view) is that she is exceptionally proud of her country that people are looking beyond stereotypes and judging a man on his merits without fast looking at his color but ability. People it is this divide that Obama seeks to bring to an end or at least work people to a middle ground and people are willing to work on him and buy his stock right now and it will pay off! Bravo Iowa for starting the road and saying, Yes We Can and that We Believe in the Hopeful Change that Barack has a vision for.

No Karl Rove, no clever swift boat attacks, no Fox news is going to stop Obama. The pent up tidal wave of frustration at Bush and the neo-cons for not admitting their strategical fallacies and errors and their boldfaced insistence that their American weakening, economy ruining, budget busting, free trade outsourcings and illegal immigration cheap labor anti Universal Health care policies be continued will lead to the swift and complete conclusion to the downfall of the neo-con attitudes that has already begun.

A CHANGE is in the air, a real change, and like the shadow of a giant that falls across the liliputian brains of the neo-cons, it has struck them with FEAR of the movement that Obama represents, the unifying power of the American people unfettered by corporatism and special interests - the same kind of fear that they have been using to foist their agendas on the people of the United States, the same kind of FEAR that now has the neo-cons ready to beat a hasty retreat to their caves and think tanks and politically connected corporations where they can spend the next 40 years trying to figure what went WRONG in their brief decade of “glory” (sic).

I heard the speech and that woman was coming from her soul. She was overwhelmed by the realization that in the United States of America, it’s people gave equal consideration to a black man as to a white woman. She did not realize how far this country had come and she did not realize that she was part of this country’s fabric. Her critic helped Jack Abramoff steal money from Native Americans. Its not going to be the Dems with the regret.

If McCain continues this slide to the far right he will surely lose the support of the independent voters. The independents as usual will determine who the next president will be.

There is a reason McCain has won the nomination, he is seen as a moderate.

If McCain embraces the Reed/Rove style of campaigning he’s done. If this is his strategy, forget it.

I don’t know what country he grew up in but it certainly wasn’t this one. Reading the comments, I come to realize that most of the criticism is of words taken out of context and being applied to mean what the reader wants to believe. A war of words. One of the comments goes back to the fall of the Berlin wall, the end of the cold war, etc. I see how that would induce pride if you could find something to be proud of as we as a nation had something significant to do with it. However, change is accomplished by the people. That is the reason that this campaign is so electrifying. The people see a chance to bring about change. It is about a candidate inviting them to be part and directors of a movement. People are thrilled when they are asked to participate in decisions which affect their lives. Why are we meddling in other countries when we have so many things that need attention at home? Are we that arrogant as a nation. Wake up.

I’d like to know where the hell any of you get off even insinuating that Mr. Obama has anything to do with Islam, anti-American sentiment, or the like. You are talking about a Christian American citizen, raised in Hawaii and starting a family in Illinois, and a longtime member of the United Church of Christ. Having been raised by a single mother and living later in the south side of Chicago he is the only candidate we have seen in the past fifty years at least who honestly knows the value of a buck, has a strong work ethic, was not born automatically well-off and might actually (God forbid) be able to RELATE to middle-class and blue-collar America, unlike John “no new ideas” McCain. After all, not every Joe Schmoe who serves in the military is fit to run it, let alone the whole country, respectable as their service might have been. I advise you to stop with the blatant falsehoods, lest many of you look like total idiots. Associating Obama with anything but American values and integrity shoots your credibility down instantly.

I have heard the words terrorist and terrorism so many times in the past seven years that I think the words should be permanently removed from the English language. Where are the WMDs?? Where is all of this terrorism that Bush speaks of? Other countries get attacked and don’t go off and invade other countries. What the HELL! Are you GOP’s really that stupid! This repulsive, but very revealing, comment by Michelle O. represents one of the reasons I left the Democratic Party long ago. The liberal extremists that have owned the Party for decades truly ARE ashamed to be Americans since to them nothing counts unless it stems from their own socialist — often Marxist — world view. There is no digression from their party line. Are they Stalinists? No — but they do make you worry about what they’d do if they truly had serious power.

Thanks, Michelle, for reminding me of how dangerous, and stupid, the “Party of Hope” (and little else) has become.

And just when we were thinking Obama might be the lesser of two Democrat evils ….

I would like to say that Michelle Obama has been a working mother and the wife of a State Senator in IL and now in DC and that she is still in a transition period. She is an educated and intelligent and caring person who puts her children and their well being first. She has accepted her husband’s challenge to work for the future of their children. She is NOT A POLITICIAN. Please don’t expect that she can stump like one. The problem is that so many people are waiting for an opportunity to critize her and I know I would not like to be in that position, I certainly would not trade places. As far as Cindy McCain I had not heard her speak at all except to critize, I am not impressed. To say that you would not vote for Hillary because her husband had an affair is just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Any sane person would base their choice on whether a candidate can help put food on their table and get health insurance for their children.

Is “coalition politics” at work in Obama’s rise to power?

“Trevor Loudon, the New Zealand-based blogger who has been analyzing the political forces behind Obama and specializes in studying the impact of Marxist and leftist political organizations, notes that Frank Chapman, a CPUSA supporter, has written a letter to the party newspaper hailing the Illinois senator’s victory in the Iowa caucuses.”

“Obama’s victory was more than a progressive move; it was a dialectical leap ushering in a qualitatively new era of struggle,” Chapman wrote. “Marx once compared revolutionary struggle with the work of the mole, who sometimes burrows so far beneath the ground that he leaves no trace of his movement on the surface. This is the old revolutionary ‘mole,’ not only showing his traces on the surface but also breaking through.”

“Let’s challenge the liberal media to report on this. Will they have the honesty and integrity to do so?”

Michelle and her husband are farther left than we could ever have imagined.

something is wrong with most of you. We are constantly pitted against each other whether it’s blanked-out-from-humanity police against citizens or experimental agencies doing tests on the unknowing public, these things including media manipulation that coerce everyone to channel in on particular dictated thought by someones should pull us together. The examples are everywhere and yet everyone continues to operate as if they have self-arrived onto every opinion they spout. the opinions here in this blog appear exactly this way. there is not one lone operator of this maniacal machine called america, it’s all of us turning off our minds and submitting to the routine conditioning treatment induced by mad-money-men. We are the government and until everyone hyper-understands this, we’ll continue the course of discourse

This article, like others, has misquoted Michelle. She did not say it was the first time she “was proud” of America. She had the word “really” in front of proud. “Really” in this context means “extremely”. In other words, after living in a society that has seemed to accept the idea that complete cynicism in politics wins, she’s excited that people are voting for someone with principle, character and, yes, the hope that we can actually live according to Christian principles rather than just pretend to.

I think more people than not are tired of the “plastic politician speeches” where people are afraid of speaking their mind for fear of the pundits ripping them apart. We want real people running this country don’t we? I think this country is wonderful, but isn’t there always room for improvement? Have we yet achieved the ideal America? For younger folks, the Cold War and the Gulf War invoke memories of fear and disillusionment, not necessarily pride.

There is a feeling that more people then usual are getting involved with this election and genuinely excited about Obama. With Kerry I think Democrats were feeling more like “anything but Bush” which is not ideally how you want to pick a candidate. Here we have real hope. Will he live up to the hype? Time will tell. Oh yeah, is Hillary still in it?!

The hypocrisy of the Obama Camp really bothers me:

I’m not really proud of this country until now my hubby Bama has a chance to be the president of the US.

I’m for public finance for presidential race until I can out raise my opponent.

I’m for the poor and under-served until I befriend with a fat cat named Rezco and screwed up the low income families in South Chicago.

I’m against the special interest until I got million bucks from a nuclear power plant and shelved a legislation to hold the company accountable for radiation leaking and yet later claimed credit for it.

I’m for speaking from my heart and yet used borrowed words without acknowledgment.

The list can go on and on……

I worry Mr Obama surely will unite the rightring of this country and suffers a crash defeat by the Republicans.

Mccain or Obama to be our next president? The thought makes goose bumps. The spending liberal or war monger “maverick” will surely spend trillion dollars we don’t have and bankrupt our country.

Go Colin Powell or Mike Bloomberg.

Go to the Obamas’ church web site and you will see that the commitment to Africa is the priority. No mention of the United States there. Nothing wrong with making a commitment to see that the many nations making up the continent of Africa are assisted in any possible way to be on a better footing with the community of all nations. However, Sen. Obama is running for President of the United States and the United States was recently and seriously attacked by radical Islam. Michelle Obama might want to visit downtown Manhattan and meditate on the hole in the ground where the Twins used to be, where the American citizens who worked in those towers used to be. Our ability as a nation to take a hit like that and pick ourselves up and go on with courage is something to be proud of. Mrs. Obama plays the race card often and with impunity. It’s time the press stopped giving her a free pass.

Native Indians & Dangling Africans from trees. The pictures and stories depicted by all sides paint a very certain picture of the behavior and dupe-ability done by one’s with the most influential bite. Today we have media. An ill-begotten giant that has discovered it’s power and now flexes it’s ego to draw in cowards who’ve taken the oath “if you can’t beat ‘em join ‘em”. Just as all those Americans posed in pictures along with “strange fruit”, we now have a media fed public who have failed to recognize the detriment of this imploding diet. How do we establish that we get along? By not saying we get along? The media is/are those people posing with the black persons hanging from the trees. the media is/are those authors who’ve written misleading accounts of the Native Indian. This is what we do to ourselves, and some people have been paying attention, trying to explain to hard-headed talk-backers who will not listen or attempt to decipher information. everything done is based or deduced to “someone is challenging your space”. We all are influenced and most of these influences have hard-lined embedded, when this is not how influence is meant to operate.

If she is genuine, she will convince Barak to state and declare his position on recognizing the great struggle of the Cold War. Recognize the veterans of the Cold War! State that the Cold War is over, but our country has forgotten something, we have forgotten those who have served in the Cold War!

Obama can make the Vets whole and retire the words “Cold War” by issuing the Cold War Victory Medal to those veterans and marking it officially over.

The arrogance and stupidity of the media pundits (and yes, some of the readers here) is why it’s time for a change. Change is good. Michelle Obama is right. As an African-American, I can say with authority of my life experience that very few have reason to be proud of the country of their birth. This country’s past and present give much reason for shame and despair. The greatness of America is that we don’t all have to love it. Perhaps Bill O’Reilly would prefer a Nazi Fatherland which demands we all love it. Thankfully, America still offers freedom to disagree. We’re free to criticize and dislike what’s wrong in America, and in the process — CHANGE to make it better. Michelle and millions of others from all walks of life have a right not to love what America IS, but very much love and believe in the ideal of what it SHOULD be. The hope that the Obama campaign offers is that America might get closer to that potential in our lifetime, and be inclusive of all it’s “children”, as MLK might say.

The Soviet Union did not die or fade away it went through its own regrouping and came back on a more horrendous level(it uses capitalism as its main weapon along with subtle nationalization). Bold: Just Words?

Barack Obama and I both, apparently, believe words mean things. Harvard Law grad Michelle Obama says “for the first time in my adult life” (25 years or so) “I am really proud proud of my country”. Does this mean she was not proud of her country before now? To paraphrase Bill Clinton, it depends on what the meaning of really is. Does she say Bold: REALLY, as in extra, or does she mean Italic: really as in truthfully? The way I heard it was the latter. And if so it is hard to imagine that she has not found anything to be proud of of in the USA during her 25 years of adult life. I wake up every day and am not only proud to be an American, but also proud of my country.

Words matter, but often the parsing of statements goes too far….as it has with Michelle Obama’s statement. Michelle Obama was highlighting that this moment has made her really proud of America.

I had a similar feeling after voting in the VA primary and then hearing the results that evening….people came together to support a man and a vision….of change and hope for a better future.

Having experienced intense sadness when JFK was assassinated, I have not felt as hopeful about this country since that time until now. I get what Michelle is saying; I agree…this is a special time, to be really proud.

Of course, I am and no doubt she is, proud to be an American every day, even on the days that Bush has done stupid things..like attack Iraq because of WMD….I am embarrassed as a proud American of George Bush, his policies and his administration…it has not been a proud time in our history, though certainly there have been some days that were better than others, most have been less than memorable.

It is time to turn that page. Watching Barack Obama bring people together, believing that there is hope for the future, for them and our country, that there will be real change and that once again America can lead in the world, rather than police it, is inspiring. In fact, as a proud American, I can say it makes me really proud today!

There’s nothing more un-american than Democratic party right now. They used to be ok, but now they are flat wrong on almost all issues. I can’t believe there are so many half brain dead morons still supporting them. How did republicans ruin the party? They didn’t! Clintons did! Republicans inherited poor state of affairs from those idiots, who used Marines in their parade uniforms, as waiters and waitresses, undermined America’s authority throughout the world, and then conveniently blamed it on Bush. George W. Bush at least has integrity and character, unlike his predecessor. And just for the record, I’m not a multi-millionaire, but I support Republicans. It’s the only hope in these days, as they are the only ones realizing the danger we’re living in. Not Obama with his childish idiotic comments. He needs to take off the pink glasses. Definitely not Clinton. These clueless democrats and their supporters are the ones spewing hate right now, and dividing America, not the conservatives. “The American government is leading the country towards hell. … We say to the Americans as people and to American mothers, if they cherish their lives and if they cherish their sons, they must elect an American patriotic government that caters to their interests not the interests of the Jews. If the present injustice continues with the wave of national consciousness, it will inevitably move the battle to American soil, just as Ramzi Yousef and others have done. This is my message to the American people. I urge them to find a serious administration that acts in their interest and does not attack people and violate their honor and pilfer their wealth. I am one of the servants of Allah. We do our duty of fighting for the sake of the religion of Allah. It is also our duty to send a call to all the people of the world to enjoy this great light and to embrace Islam and experience the happiness in Islam. Our primary mission is nothing but the furthering of this religion. Let not the West be taken in by those who say that Muslims choose nothing but slaughtering. Their brothers in East Europe, in Turkey and in Albania have been guided by Allah to submit to Islam and to experience the bliss of Islam. Unlike those, the European and the American people and some of the Arabs are under the influence of Jewish media. … ” ~ Osama bin Laden, May 1998, ABC

Michelle Obama was born in 1964. “Her adult life” began roughly, then, in 1984. Since 84, we;ve had the second Reagan term and his endless, record deficits and support of right wing death squads in south america, Poppy Bush and his dud economy, Clinton’s zipper problem and the Right’s embarassing, frothing, self righteous attacks on him, and 8 years of the Worst President in American History who stole the election in 2000 (helped by naive young people and liberals who voted for Nader). I agree with Michelle Obama (and what she MEANT you rightwing d*******). When I see current young Americans getting involved to take their country and future back, for the first time in a long time I am proud of this country. To the rightwing Christian lunatics out there led by the nutbasket Bill O Reilley and Ralph Reed, I ave news for you: America is NOT always right. America is NOT always good. Keep it up, Obama supporters. The Right will attack you for whatever you do or say because they fear you. Leave them in the dust.

The man is not a muslim and you all know it but will spew any lie u can out to the ignorant in hopes that it sticks and will influence them to vote against Obama. Now simple minded peons are trying their best to paint Mrs. Obama as unpatriotic because of her recent comments. Give me a break. What she said is no big deal at all. She owes no one an apology.

I can’t wait until Obama wins the presidency. The crying and whining from a lotta u chumps on hear will make his victory priceless. LOL!

Left wing radicals-lmao!

Now that McCain has decided to embrace the Bush legacy his probable opponent has started to open a wide lead in the polls. Obama now leads McCain head to head in every poll by a 6-8 percent margin.

Sounds like mainstream America is sick of the war of fear. 56% FOR immediate withdrawal. And nearly 70% think the Iraq war was a mistake.

I’m tired of Obama’s reluctance to answer the questions. Whenever he’s confronted with something from his past his pat answer is “That’s not what my campaign is about.” WTF!

Has Obama set himself up as an untouchable? Can’t touch him because he’s black? Can’t touch him because he’s above it all?

DEMAND ANSWERS FROM OBAMA. HE’LL CRACK UNDER PRESSURE WHICH IS EXACTLY THE KIND OF PRESIDENT WE DON’T NEED!

I say screw the liberal’s PC. The stakes are too high.

Flowerbomb, she is proud that Americans are finally waking up to participate in the democratic process. Young people such as myself have grown increasingly apathetic over the years, and Obama has mobilized millions of grass-roots supporters from all walks of life. Of course she’s proud of him, but her comment speaks to the Amreican people and the power that we can have when we unite for a common cause. 43,000 people signed up for Austin debate tickets, which is 2,000 more people than voted in the 2004 election!!! “Words matter!” saith Obama.

Except when they don’t serve his purposes.

Why make excuses for the words of a 40-something, Ivy-League educated lawyer, who has already been through her husband’s U.S. senate campaign? She’s smart and experienced. She meant what she said.

Read the entire text of Michelle Obama’s speech. She did not misspeak. The problem is that what was said and meant at the time, later turned out to be inconvenient.

Just as with Barack Obama’s current problems in trying to back out of his earlier commitment to accept federal campaign financing.

And his 2006 pledge not to run for president in 2008. One could go on and on.

The hate-spewing wing of the Republican Party has lost the majority, the backing of most Americans, and soon, they are going to make CONSERVATIVE into a filthy word. People won’t be chumps forever, and when the right-wing’s words catch up with them (as they are doing now)they, not Democrats, will be the big losers.

The only “hope” the Republicans have is that quote.

Liberals believe in alleviating the suffering and despair of everyone — even those who disagree with us, those who despise us. Everyone.

And, as Jesus said, “Love your enemy.” (Of course, we liberals understand that people may interpret words differently, e.g., American Christians seem to interpret Jesus’ words to mean “Kill your enemy.”)

I.E., Michelle Obama was simply showing compassion for Republicans. Giving them hope. :)

Just read through the comments by Alex Stewart, dee, “the truth” (i.e., the LIES), and you’ll see how desperate the Obamaphobes are getting.

The right wing is going down and flames, and they’re grasping at straws in a futile effort to attack their way out of trouble. Too bad for them that eight years of Bush-itis has inoculated the country against further outbreaks.

That’s a funny desperation move too, CwnBt: thanks for reminding us.

Nothing better than announcing “What WOULD happen if this or that happened, and that PROVES he’s unfit to lead. Because I know what would happen.”

Seriously… your best argument/attack is that he hasn’t cracked under the pressure of something that hasn’t happened, but you’re pretty sure he WOULD? And this, after Gee Dubya already folded like a cheap deck chair when 9/11 really DID happen!

Pathetic.

For all the people defending Michelle based on the word “really” you need to stop and not make yourselves look like fools. She made that speech twice. The first time she did not say “really”. At the second speech she added “really” thinking it would make it all better. It didn’t.

There’s a video on youtube if you want to see both speeches side by side.

Defending her words based solely on the word “really” just makes them sound so much worse when you realize she didn’t say add the “really” until later.

I’m the biggest Barack supporter around but that was a very sloppy comment by his wife.

“The only time”?!?!?!?

Come on. That’s sloppy if she did not mean it that way. And stupid if she did mean it.

She is a black woman who went to Princeton and Harvard. Her husband is a black man who went to Columbia and Harvard. They are both lawyers. Her husband served in the state senate. Her husband is now a U.S. Senator. He is now the front runner for the Democratic nomination.

All of that was a result of their own abilities and hard work and they ought to be very proud of themselves.

But America does not deserve any credit for that? The fact that AMerica presented her and her husband the opportuniity to accomplish those achievements has never made her really proud until this moment?

Ask her in how many other countries, regardless of their skin color, could two people who were basically poor kids with no connections whatsoever, rise up to not only where they are today but where they found themselves 1 year ago, 5 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago?

They ought to be really proud of themselves for getting themselves there but they also ought to be really proud that America has enabled them to get there through opportunities that are not often otherwise available in most other countries around this world.

I feel sad having to expose Barack Hussein Obama but the man is a complete fraud. The truth is going to surprise, and disappoint, and outrage many people who were drawn to him. He has lied to the American people, and he has sought to misrepresent his own heritage. Obama’s life story is vastly different from the one he portrays. My point: if he will lie about his mother and father, what else is he lying about? Fiction: Obama stated in his Convention speech: ‘My father … grew up herding goats.’ The ‘goat herder’ claim has been repeated endlessly. It is a lie. Fact: Obama’s grandfather, Hussein Onyango Obama was a prominent and wealthy farmer. His son, Obama’s father, was a child of privilege, not privation. He was an outstanding student, not a herdsman. Fiction: Obama was given an ‘African’ name. Fact: Obama is a Muslim who has concealed his religion. I am a strong supporter of the Muslim community, and I believe Muslims have been scapegoated. Obama has a great opportunity to be forthright. Instead, he has treated his Muslim heritage as a dark secret. His grandfather was named ‘Hussein.’ That is an Arabic-Muslim, not African, name. Hussein was a devout Muslim and named his son, Barack Senior, ‘Baraka.’ Baraka is an Arabic word meaning ‘blessed.’ Baraka comes out of the Koran and Arabic, not Africa! Barack Senior was also a devoted Muslim, and also chose a Muslim name for his son, our own Barack Obama, Junior. Again, his name was an Arabic and Koranic. Obama has spent a lifetime running from his family heritage and religious heritage. Would his father have given his son a Koranic name if the father was not a devout Muslim? Obama’s stepfather was also a Muslim. Obama is the first Muslim-heritage senator; he should be proud of that fact. There is nothing to be ashamed of in any of the three great Abrahamic religions.Fiction: Obama Senior was a harmless student ‘immigrant’ who came to the United States only to study. Fact: Obama was part of one of the most corrupt and violent organizations in Africa: the Kenyatta regime. Obama’s father ran back to Kenya soon after the British left. It is likely Obama’s father had Mau Mau sympathies or connections, or he would not have been welcomed into the murderous inner circle of rapists, murderers, and arsonists. I believe Obama’s secret shame at his family history of rape, murder and arson is what actualizes him. British research is not yet complete, but is currently examining British colonial records. Their investigation to date has drawn on information on three continents. And what about Obama’s beloved Kenyan brothers and sisters? None of his family was invited to Boston to share his prominence. Are his relatives being kept in the closet? Where are they? More secrecy, more prevarication. It is time for Barack Obama to stop presenting a fantasy to the American people. Americans are forgiving and many would still support him. It may well be that his concealment is meant to endanger Israel. His Muslim religion would obviously raise serious questions in many Jewish circles where Obama now enjoys support. In any case, Obama is still living a lie.

There have been many times when I wasn’t proud of America. The travesty that followed during Hurricane Katrina was one such time. People hate to hear the truth or face themselves in the mirror. We have had some dark and not to proud moments in this country and she had every right to express herslf. In the words of Jack Nicholson “You can’t handle the truth”. Yes, Obama is promising change and that’s good enough for me. After the last eight years I am open to any kind of change. Her comment was narcissistic. It was approved by her and read twice. You cannot nuance this. Her place - get real - her place as she admits, was being sent to a prestigious college ahead of more qualified candidates (based on grades/sat scores) with tax payer money. Why this is offensive is real - because it disrespects all the efforts of everyone, black and white, to give her the opportunities she received. Those people who made those sacrifices were called Americans. She should be proud of what they did for all of us.

Facts about Obama

  • Passed Amendments to provide funds for Homeless Veterans.
  • Provided Tax credis to get gas stations for installing E85 fuel pumps.
  • Obtained funding to help the World Health Organization monitor and respond to a potential avian flu pandemic.
  • Got an amendment out of Senate eliminating no-bid contracts in the post-Katrina reconstruction so more money would actually wnd up in the hands of the tragedy’s victims.
  • Sponsored a bill with Dick Lugar aimed at restricting weapons proliferation and the black market trade.
  • Just a few from his days in Washington.

If you really new politics only about 12 to 24 bills or significant bills come up or a roll call vote on the Senate floor every year. ALMOST NONE ARE SPONSORED BY THE MINORITY PARTY THAT IS WHY YOU SEE DEMS AND REPS CO-SPONSING BILLS>

Is it funny to anyone but me that the only thing that people like Ralph Reed and these republican right-wing nuts posting her today have to be proud of in this country has to do with the destruction and demise of other people and other countries. They are not saying i’m proud that every American child has health care. Or i’m proud of the way we treat our veterans, how we treat the homeless or the disabled. They are not proud of the way the elderly in this country are getting along, having to choose between food and medicine on a daily basis. They are not proud of America’s economic status in the world, or the fact that we are headed for, (most economist say we are all ready in a recession). They are not proud of the fact that they vote to send young men and women to war while their young wives and husbands struggle to put food on the table every night. They parade a few soldiers on tv who overcame the odds after serving tours in Iraq, mainly because they have well to do families who can help them adjust. They are not proud of the fact that the suicide rate among soldiers in Iraq is up 45% in the past year and a half. And those who do make it back end up in mental wards because they can’t deal with themselves after they were forced into an illegal war against a country who did nothing to us or posed any threat to us. Only to have their government tell them nothing is wrong with them then deny them treatment for their illness. You see as long as you and your children (Mr Reed) are not victimized by this administration you can stand up and say i’m a proud American. And the reason they can not say they are proud of these things is because they know good health care, care for the elderly, care for the veterans and homeless etc. don’t exist in this country. But most Americans know the truth, that’s why they are voting for change in this country. You fill most Americans head with the idea that if Barack is elected president every terrorist in the world will be on the way to destroy us. Truth is Bush was in office when 9/11 happened but you didn’t blame him. You patted him and that ding-wad Rudy on the back and said they saved us from demise. They twisted her words to make it look like she was degrading America, I won’t speak much on that because that’s what people do in elections. I will only focus on what Barack is doing and that is trying to bring all Americans together not matter race, gender or religion. You see when we bow our heads to pray the same God that listens to you listens to me.

On the other hand, if it was as later claimed, an honest mistake in her choice of words, she needs a lot of help before being put in front of the microphone again…costly mistake.

I voted for Obama in the Georgia primary. The comment made by Michelle Obama is going to be a huge problem for her husband Barack if he becomes the democratic nominee. The scary thing about this is that she actually said it twice. She said it once in Madison, Wisconsin and again in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

This is going to be used as wedge issue to leverage some other borderline issues concerning Barack that have yet to make it to the mainstream media outlets.

Han, You talk about all that you’re proud of.
    1. Are you proud that this country enslave thousands and thousands of Africans from 1607-1865? 2 Are you proud that in 1838 thousands of Cherokee Indians were forcibly removed from N. Georgia, stripped of their rights and forced to move against their will to ‘The Trail of Tears’ by the government of Georgia and the US governemnt? 3. Are you proude that your President Bush has this coutry in a war based on lies, which Ms. Clinton voted in favor of. 4. Let’s not mention what America did for those poor Katrina people.

Ms. Obama’s words have been taken out of context and what we have here is fear and nervousness that Sen. Obama is going to be the next President of the U.S.

Mrs. Obama is out of touch or does not know much about American history. I’m glad life has been good to her. She is a smart and very capable woman, and has worked hard for her position in life. She should be proud that many black and white Americans have suffered and in some cases died so that Americans of all races are today rewarded for their talent and hard work. No other country has tried harder for equal rights than this country. The fact her husband is close to becoming the next President of the United States proves we have come a long way. For that and the stuggles those in the past endured, she should not only be proud of this country but thankful.

Jan is a lib hack. What the American people did to the victims of Katrina? Nature caused the Hurricane. It was a big one. It makes landfall on New Orleans. New Orleans is a city that sits below sea level. It was a major disaster. America reached out the victims, welcomed them to their communities and donated millions of dollar to various charities. America is not a bad place. It is a blessed place. Perhaps, the misery you America hating libs have is in your dark, depressing, blame America first collective state of mind.

Tiff - You really need to get your facts straight before you start rattling off where to place the blame. Another thning, just who do you think pays for all of these entitlement programs you want for everyone? The taxpayers, the middle class hardworking tax payers. It is not the high flying politicians or the wealthy, it is the middle class. All of these freebie programs sound wonderful, but fact is the middle class can’t keep paying for all of these programs…many of these programs are truly worthwhile, but some are merely more rhetoric from the democratic party and actually mean more taxes, always has.

If we took half the money spent by both parties on their campaigns in this election alone, we could provide healthcare benefits for a lot of people….

If we took half the money both administrations have spent bribing corrupt governments to comply with the UN, we could do lots more.

Fact is, both administrations are the same really. Lots of campaign promises, lots of talk of hope and change, but no real talk what they will really do….it’s just talk.

Believe in change….what exactly does that mean when it comes to healthcare, immigration, terrorism, the economy….where are the facts people?

    By FOR OUR COUNTRY

    February 20, 2008 4:32 PM | Link to this

    Obama’s speech (October, 2002):

Good afternoon. Let me begin by saying that although this has been billed as an anti-war rally, I stand before you as someone who is not opposed to war in all circumstances. The Civil War was one of the bloodiest in history, and yet it was only through the crucible of the sword, the sacrifice of multitudes, that we could begin to perfect this union, and drive the scourge of slavery from our soil. I don't oppose all wars. My grandfather signed up for a war the day after Pearl Harbor was bombed, fought in Patton's army. He saw the dead and dying across the fields of Europe; he heard the stories of fellow troops who first entered Auschwitz and Treblinka. He fought in the name of a larger freedom, part of that arsenal of democracy that triumphed over evil, and he did not fight in vain. I don't oppose all wars. After September 11th, after witnessing the carnage and destruction, the dust and the tears, I supported this Administration's pledge to hunt down and root out those who would slaughter innocents in the name of intolerance, and I would willingly take up arms myself to prevent such a tragedy from happening again. I don't oppose all wars. And I know that in this crowd today, there is no shortage of patriots, or of patriotism. What I am opposed to is a dumb war. What I am opposed to is a rash war. What I am opposed to is the cynical attempt by Richard Perle and Paul Wolfowitz and other arm-chair, weekend warriors in this Administration to shove their own ideological agendas down our throats, irrespective of the costs in lives lost and in hardships borne. What I am opposed to is the attempt by political hacks like Karl Rove to distract us from a rise in the uninsured, a rise in the poverty rate, a drop in the median income - to distract us from corporate scandals and a stock market that has just gone through the worst month since the Great Depression. That's what I'm opposed to. A dumb war. A rash war. A war based not on reason but on passion, not on principle but on politics. Now let me be clear - I suffer no illusions about Saddam Hussein. He is a brutal man. A ruthless man. A man who butchers his own people to secure his own power. He has repeatedly defied UN resolutions, thwarted UN inspection teams, developed chemical and biological weapons, and coveted nuclear capacity. He's a bad guy. The world, and the Iraqi people, would be better off without him. But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history. I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda. I am not opposed to all wars. I'm opposed to dumb wars. So for those of us who seek a more just and secure world for our children, let us send a clear message to the president today. You want a fight, President Bush? Let's finish the fight with Bin Laden and al-Qaeda, through effective, coordinated intelligence, and a shutting down of the financial networks that support terrorism, and a homeland security program that involves more than color-coded warnings. You want a fight, President Bush? Let's fight to make sure that the UN inspectors can do their work, and that we vigorously enforce a non-proliferation treaty, and that former enemies and current allies like Russia safeguard and ultimately eliminate their stores of nuclear material, and that nations like Pakistan and India never use the terrible weapons already in their possession, and that the arms merchants in our own country stop feeding the countless wars that rage across the globe. You want a fight, President Bush? Let's fight to make sure our so-called allies in the Middle East, the Saudis and the Egyptians, stop oppressing their own people, and suppressing dissent, and tolerating corruption and inequality, and mismanaging their economies so that their youth grow up without education, without prospects, without hope, the ready recruits of terrorist cells. You want a fight, President Bush? Let's fight to wean ourselves off Middle East oil, through an energy policy that doesn't simply serve the interests of Exxon and Mobil. Those are the battles that we need to fight. Those are the battles that we willingly join. The battles against ignorance and intolerance. Corruption and greed. Poverty and despair. The consequences of war are dire, the sacrifices immeasurable. We may have occasion in our lifetime to once again rise up in defense of our freedom, and pay the wages of war. But we ought not - we will not - travel down that hellish path blindly. Nor should we allow those who would march off and pay the ultimate sacrifice, who would prove the full measure of devotion with their blood, to make such an awful sacrifice in vain.

    Let’s turn the page,

    VOTE OBAMA FOR PRESIDENT!

    By wondering what changes

    February 20, 2008 4:34 PM | Link to this

Scared? Yes, the changes Obama will bring will be like everything we knew or worried about will be changed to “pay back” for those past years of slavery and white men being “in charge” because Obama will “owe his soul” to so many in the black community that he will be indebted to put Jesse in as Sec of State, Al Sharpton as Attorney General, one of the King sons as something, and so on. You get what I mean. Don’t say this will not turn into a racial card because Obama will have to pay back for all those votes that were gotten through threats to black politicians if they did not jump on his BO bandwagon. I don’t think Obama realizes that he will not be able to control the tides that will begin flowing. I wish Colin Powell had been the man running for President. He is someone who knows politics and the world very well - and was his own Man. So much for wishing. Change ain’t always good!

Hey “American Patriot”, if you get rid of all the conservatives, all the tax money needed for Obama’s plans will go away with them. I bet you did not know that 50% of Americans pay NO taxes, but get tax “rebates” while those of us that are supposedly “rich” pay for their rebates(don’t believe it…look it up). We are small business owners. If Obama does what he says with the cap on FICA and ups our taxes too as he says he will, we will close our small business(as will many small business owners) and watch unemployment go up. We won’t be able to afford it. With an “S” corp., we pay on the profit the business makes, but we don’t keep that profit. Open a small business and then see who you vote for…..Also, maybe look up the word Socialism….that is what America is becoming….have the “rich” pay for it all. That is what happened to ancient Rome. The rich got tired of paying so they quit their jobs to collect from the govt. and soon there was no one left to pay for everyone and everything collapsed. Read your history…..that is a fact.

Tell us “worried American” what effect will this have on small business?

Fox News and the sad a* sheep who would believe anything they have to say aren’t even worth addressing. Ms. Obama said what she meant, most likely, and it makes me proud to hear a political person lay it out plainly. I’m 52, white, male , and can not recall feeling much pride in a nation that has been the bully of the world since I can remember. And when you think about what was done to the Native Americans and the early building of the country with slave labor, it has obviously been that way from the get go, though obscured by high flying rhetoric to the contrary, and the blather and bluster of those in charge congratulating each other as they skimmed the cream off the astounding natural wealth of the land and the hard work of this country’s people. Even now our friends and family working at walmart and in the service industries are being screwed so that the rest of us can by cheap plastic crap we don’t need at affordable prices etc. etc. The people in China have jobs now because of this, but their working conditions are awful, their ecosystems are being trashed, and they don’t get paid much. Basically we have made them the American lowest lower class, and we don’t have to look at it happening day in and day out, so we don’t have to feel so bad about it. This is globalization, an opportunity for the rich to screw even more people more thoroughly in every place on earth, while destroying any vestiges of self sufficiency that might remain. We have propped up whichever convenient regimes were willing to give us what we wanted for cheap, or would tow the line one way or another. We have been a country that is itching to kill to get what we want and all the while proclaiming “Christian” values.( First Gulf War there was not even an excuse of defending “Democracy”) Look at what we spend on the military compared to the rest of the world if you don’t believe this. We have bases worldwide. We are an empire based on greed and might, nothing like what even “Our Forefathers” envisioned, and have been devolving into an even more fascist, more malignant state under the Bush regime. I am sick to death of the fear mongering and lies of our government. I am fed up with corporate/government domination of our people and of the people of the rest of the world. This is a view of our country that could make a person feel sick at heart. But some times the truth hurts, and needs to be dealt with. Real patriotism is about loving the people of your country enough to try to fix what you see is wrong. Real patriotism is not about being some mindless cheerleader. Fortunately the evil perpetrated by our leaders is only one side of the picture. People on the whole try to be good most of the time. When we are out of our cars anyway we treat each other pretty well for the most part. The people of this country, like any other country, are kind, gracious, generous, smart, loving, neighborly, funny, and wonderful to be around, on a good day. No two of us agree on anything completely. No two of us have the same story. It’s a country full of diversity, differing customs and damn good food of all sorts, thanks to the diversity. It’s a place where a person can make a good living if they are willing to jump through the hoops, work hard, and not waste the money in their trust fund on partying. It’s a place where the freedoms that are still intact allow for possibility. The possibility of change for the better. Ultimately what has given me my deepest frustration with America is that our potential to do good in this world is so enormous, and that we have repeatedly squandered that potential. We have not taken advantage of our opportunities for meaningful change. Nobody’s perfect, but our record has been ridiculously bad. I’m not saying I’ve never felt pride in our country or that our country is all bad. That would also be far from the truth. When we do give to disaster victims, when we do intervene in a genocide (Kosovo), then on those days I can feel some pride. I love the feeling of possibility that characterizes life here and the “Can Do!” attitude that is one of our best national character traits. I love the old people who told me stories about the depression, and the little kids who go on playing despite the craziness taking place all around them. Hey, some of my best friends are Americans, they’re like family. And one of the absolutely coolest things about the U.S. is we are from everywhere, and through all of our much maligned divorce and remarrying we are related to more and more people from elsewhere all the time. When I was a kid all the relatives I knew about were basically English, German, and Swiss in my family. Now they include members with Puerto Rican, Vietnamese, Chinese, Dutch, and Afghan heritage, just to name some of the origins I’ve heard about. I think this is a great thing. Our diversity, that is what despite our history, I love about America. Barrack Obama’s candidacy is a ray of light in this grim time of corporate hegemony, environmental collapse and political cowardice and collusion. This is because he inspires as well as having viable, well thought out plans to address the many problems we are now up against, not just as a nation, but as citizens of the world. The most overwhelming problems of the coming decades are the combined overpopulation of the planet, the mass extinction of species and ecosystem collapse that is underway, climate change, peak oil, loss of topsoil through conventional oil dependent agriculture (and the staple food shortages that are already happening in a number of countries from this and other causes ), the shortages of water and other resources that are being tapped out in our overpopulated world’s scramble to industrialize and adopt consumerist culture. The solutions neccessary to deal with these converging forces will be difficult to formulate. We absolutely require leadership that is intelligent and cooperative on the world stage, as these are global problems and not anything the U.S. can address unilaterally with any real effectiveness. It is way past time to dump the fear mongering clowns that have been gumming up the works with ideology and idiocy. This includes McCain though he could not help but be a step up from Bush. That is not nearly enough in these critical years. And it is not time to elect another friend of the Corpocracy like Clinton. Obama may not be perfect, but he’s the best shot we have at leadership to help us create a survivable future. We will need to pull together worldwide and I believe Obama is smart enough, open enough, and unfettered with corporate obligations enough to get the job started. He will help us regain the world’s respect for our nation by reinstituting our civil liberties, stopping torture, renditions, warmongering, and the blockage of essential climate change treaties, programs, and legislation. He will institute incentives that will enable the neccessary solutions to be researched and instituted. The point is that it is we the people who will have to do the work, and Obama can inspire and unite enough of us to pull together and do what must be done. I also feel, finally, the possibility of taking an unqualified pride in our nation, not just for breaking down racial barriers, but for finally having the sense as a people to come together and do the right thing.

If I could only believe Obama would not be influenced by the people he will “owe” should he win the nomination and then (God forbid) the White House. I would really like to believe in change. Change however usually causes massive upheavals that run havoc and go out of control. For instance, just how is Obama going to “pull the plug” in Iraq and bring all the soldiers and equipment home? and what about Afganstan? We have soldiers all over the world. What does Obama plan to do about North Korea and their nukes? Our world is global. We can no longer retreat behind our shores and tell the “bad guys” to stay away - or what? Just what does Obama and his advisors think will happen when we pull all our soldiers and weapons back to USA and we are attacked and everything that defends us is safe at home and then gets blown up? Do I worry? Yes! Tell me about change that will really bring safety to our world and make the bad guys stay away and leave us alone? How many 9/11 attacks can we afford in order to change? Just sign me “wondering” and give me answers Obama.

Also, for everyone voting for BHO because he is black - It is ok for others to vote for HRC because she is a woman? It is ok for others to vote for JM because he is white?

Slippery slope if you answered yes…

I am voting for Obama because he will be the next white democratic president.

Oh, did you forget that he is half-black and half-white…raised by his white mother?

Why is it ‘such a historical event’ to elect another white man to be president?

I used to think Ralph Reed was the anti-Christ, but he just doesn’t have that much power. He’s a lame joke these days. However, Mr. Obama -he’s a vibrant, intelligent, ray of light on what has been an incredibly bleak political landscape.

    joe,

I was working when you posted this: “The reason you are not getting many comments is because most Obama supporters don’t get up in the morning to go to work. Maybe around noon when they are all at Starbucks doing nothing but spending their conservative parents hard earned money.”

I’m sorry, but I was busy making more money to donate to Obama’s campaign. Unfortunately, now that I’m off of work, I’m too tired to fully respond to your idiotic comment.

I’ll just ask why you were posting to blogs at 9:20 in the morning while supposedly at work. It sounds like you’re a real go-getter.

Keep dismissing Obama, though. It clearly worked for Hillary. The irrefutable fact is that the more people learn about him, the better they like him. McCain is about to be hit by a freight train if he’s not careful.

In response to the Obama critics: A little research will reveal that Obama has plenty of conventional, common sense policy ideas. Some point to the flashy and new political rhetoric and ask where the flashy and new policies are. It will take a fundamental change in our politics to successfully implement even the simplest and most widely supported changes in our policies. Obama and his voters understand this. I guess the distinction is just too complicated for some haters.

“The problem that we face in America today is not the lack of good ideas. It’s that Washington has become a place where good ideas go to die.” - Barack Obama

Fact number one : 12.8 percent of the population is black.

Fact number two : 66.4 percent is white.

Fact number three : 14.8 percent of the population is Latino.

    Do the math.

While I truly despise Hillary Clinton , she is a much more electable candidate than Barack Obama.

The man simply doesn’t have a snowballs chance in hell one on one with John McCain and that my fellow Americans is a truly sad commentary on the condition of the Democratic party.

Although I am one of those gun toting , bible thumping conservative Republicans , I am worried about the condition of my country.

The two party system has long brought balance to America.

Unfortunately , the Democrats have failed miserably in the task of finding a solid candidate for the White House.

This election cannot and will not bring unity to America when one party is allowed to dominate the political landscape.

With Hillary it was the tip that didn’t get left, with Barack, it’s the attribution that didn’t get cited. These are little things, but they add up to the verdict, “It’s the character, stupid!” Voters want their Presidents to be authentic and trustworthy—and likable.

Now, take Teresa Heinz Kerry for example, who helped to propel her husband to an ignominious defeat the last time around. Was she authentic? Authentically rich perhaps, aided by her late husband’s money and name. Was she likable? Maybe in the same way that Marie Antoinette helped set off the French Revolution.

Is this Michelle’s first public faux pas, or just the latest and most blatant? Does she communicate differently with predominately black audiences than in other settings?

If it’s “yes” to the above, than here are two diverging explanations:

    a) As a member of the rich ruling elites herself, she feels the need to validate her husband’s relevance to the unwashed masses.

    b) She really sees herself as an outsider. (What black man or woman doesn’t have a stack of slights stored in memory banks, that date back to childhood?)

Neither theory marks her as particularly attractive or sympathetic, since no one likes a bitter, cynical, sourpuss, so she best keep a lid on it.

    1) give me a break, not only is his critique ridiculous, it just shows what Republicans are continuing to do, pick little things, spin them, and run. Face it, you’ve had the chance to screw up our Nation for 8 years with your politics of separatism, looking out for the ‘good ole boys,’ and alienation from the rest of the world. Have no fear, politics is cyclical, you’ll get back in soon enough. But for now, just look for a repeat of the 2006 Congressional elections; you’re on the way out. We’re tired of this. 2) don’t be upset that there’s a potential first lady who speaks her mind, is intelligent, and doesn’t bow down to political correctness, which even Repubs don’t do, they just don’t focus on it because those they offend are not considered to be politically relevant. I mean have we even seen McCain’s wife make a statement worth quoting? But I digress, keep making up things about Obama, keep finding ridiculous things to make a fuss over, that’s what’s going to push him to the White House. Yes, that’s what has gotten him 10 States in a row and has him polling above McCain. And if you missed the memo his voters are accross all demographic. And I am one of them. I do get up before noon, my parents are hardworking educators, and I am about to get my J.D., so don’t presume to know who’s supporting this campaign. 3) BTW everyone is harping on his experience and rhetoric, that’s fine but I really would love to see if ANY of the Repubs can list out Bush’s accomplishments before being elected, esp. as a TX governor. I lived in Texas, I know. He rode in on a platform called privilege. And we peeled away those layers finally. Line up the resume’s. Besides Bush has shown us that the qualifications for being President aren’t really that high. I also think it was wonderful how he made such a big deal about abortion & gay marriage to polarize voters, yet no President including Bush would ever spend time pushing through legislation on the matter. FYI those matters are left to the states, don’t be so easily swayed next time. Once again I say, give me a break.

Outsourcing of jobs to other countries began during the Clinton administration, not the Bush administration….I know I was there for it and affected by it.

Bush did not steel the election in 02 - Gore lost and Kerry lost again in 04.

Bush alone did not fail the Katrina victims, look to the Mayor of NO and the Governor of LA to start your fingerpointing. They had no evacuation plan for the elderly or indigent population and waited until far to late to take action. No, we didn’t respond after the fact as timely as we should have, but that’s not all the responsibility of the Bush camp, there’s plenty of blame to go around on that one!

As for the war on terrorism, anyone can sit on the couch and be an armchair quarterback. Of course, we never found the WMD’s, they were gone before we got there. Terrorism can either be fought in the countries that harbor and foster it or we can wait till they bring it to us again…on our soil.

As for the economy these things run in cycles, about every 8 years or so. We are a global economy and everything around the world impacts the market.

What is hurting us the most right now is the greed of the market….to obtain higher returns in the market means more cost cutting = cutting jobs, cutting benefits, sending jobs overseas. Politicians don’t do that business does.

What is also hurting us is our insatiable appetite for oil, we continue to feed the rich oil companies, their profits aren’t down.

Bush and Clinton serve the same bi-partisan false-elite faction…which is why they are so desperate for Hillary to get the White House. Obama, a Professor of Constitutional Law, represents the highest ideals of Our Founding: an express fulfillment of E Pluribus Unum.

We. the People, are Sovereign. Obama, mixed race, raised by a single mother and her parents, was raised to know the Dream…scholarship, American ideals, righteousness, truth, humanity…free of hate, free of perversion, free of evil.

Those whose lives are shaped by hate, perversion and evil, the Mammon-worshipping philistines who have usurped Our Republic through finance of Hitler, murder of Kennedy and King for false war in Vietnam, IranContra, S&L Bailout, and 9-11 for false war for heroin, oil and the Saudis, see the gravy train pulling into the terminal.

Will they limit their assassination efforts to lying about Michelle Obama? They succeeded with Kennedy, King and 9-11?

We must unite behind the Constitution to re-establish Our Sovereignty. The force of Our Citizenship must reverberate throughout our political structure.

Ralph Reed’s “atta boy” e-mail confirming a “campaign contribution”/bribe to John Cornyn makes him a criminal, even if his only “sanction” has been rejection by the People of the State of Georgia at the polls.

Fascism in America, and its fascist plutocracy ruling us through the Bushes, the GOP, the Clintons, and the Democratic fellowtravelers who have refused to impeach Bush for 9-11 and false war, or the Supreme Court’s Roman Catholics for violating the Constitution to fraudulently make Bush president in 2000, must be removed from the fabric of our society.

We must be righteously proud of Our Nation again. Justice requires that those who have defiled the Constitution be led to redemption under the Law. We, the People, must exact Judgment that Divine Providence once more Bless Our Endeavors.

Obama made Elect as President of the United States is a good start. May Our Prayers and G-d Almighty protect him and his family from those traitors we know are here among us.

Justice must be done that our pride in America be Righteous: Death for Treason.

And then there was the botched Vietnam war, Iran/Contra and Watergate. This country is viewed in the world as arrogant and war like. I should be proud of all this? Does this make me not patriotic? The Iraq invasion was proven unnecessary; Saddam was no threat to us. Our continued occupation was not warranted, and was horribly bungled. The Iraqis only agree on one thing: they want us OUT of their country. The infamous “domino theory” was disproved in Vietnam, but apparently we didn’t learn enough from our own history of bungled military interventions.

Bush’s adventure has been a costly fiasco; Obama plans to put an end to it, saving billions of dollars and thousands of American lives. In addition, Obama proposes that we actually fight REAL threats for a change, rather than screwing around in Iraq. I don’t see how any of this is a problem.

We are all quite sure of what she meant, but what really makes me laugh is that once Obama is the Democratic nominee, and he will become the Democratic nominee. You will notice that Cindy McCain will have nothing to say. She is no match for Michelle Obama and I am sure she knows that. The McCains have a history of lies and deceit, but try to bring their issues ahead before the American public finds out. Cindy McCain’s previous drug addiction to pain killer’s where she stole money from her own Keating fund to support her habit. Now John McCain attempting to have the NYTimes squash the affair story before it hit the news waves. Don’t like their plans? Fine. But don’t claim they don’t have any. That line just doesn’t work.

They all have flimsy plans, barely can be called plans. I have to go do some real work, can’t hang around the blog all day.
