Bob Barr sub for Ron Paul in White House bid? Doesn’t look likely

Peachpundit spotted it before us, but Ron Paul’s decision to scale back his Republican presidential bid has caused some libertarians to press former Georgia congressman Bob Barr to jump into the contest.

This surfaced first on The Conservative Voice, which wrote:

Now an Atlanta-based activist with the Libertarian Party, Barr has repeatedly disavowed any intention of seeking the LP’s 2008 presidential nomination. He reiterated that stance Monday during an appearance on Neal Boortz’s Atlanta-based syndicated talk radio program.

“Right now, he’s concentrating on establishing the Libertarian Party as a viable third party,” said Derek Barr, the former congressman’s son, who now serves as his father’s communication and research director.

However, efforts to push a Barr candidacy were given new impetus last week when Rep. Ron Paul sent a letter to his supporters announcing plans to scale back his Republican presidential campaign and concentrate on his congressional re-election fight in Texas.

Several organizers behind the draft-Barr movement were supporters of the Paul presidential campaign. Last week, Barr introduced Paul at of the 35th annual Conservative Political Action Conference, calling the Texas congressman “the Constitution’s best friend” and “the gold standard of conservatism” in the GOP presidential campaign.

Ron Paul is still in the race despite the censorship of the media. This noble statesman has opened the eyes of millions of Americans. Our support of him has revealed the dark underbelly of mainstream media and created a distrust that will last forever. Before I became a Dr. Paul supporter I actually believed that CNN, MSNBC and ABC, (everyone knows FOX is not really news) were reporting events honestly. Now I see these evil, corporate controlled spin masters for what they are. Even my beloved Lou Dobbs turned out to be nothing more than a corporate owned toady by refusing to list Ron Paul on his poll questions. The worst traitor was Anderson Cooper at the last Republican debate….he took delight in cutting Dr. Paul off and giving him a few minutes while fawning over McWar and Romney. I wonder what would make Dobbs and Cooper sell out? Does someone have dirt on these people or are they just evil to the core. I will vote for Ron Paul at the upcoming primary and if nothing more this is a tiny kick in the teeth to the warmongering media that thinks it controls all of us.

Bold:Is McCain Eligible to the office of President? Why the question? Well he was born in Panama.. Therefore under the constitution he does not qualify to the office of The President.

Article II Section I of the US Constitution reads: “No Person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.”

Bold:The Key word is “NATURAL BORN CITIZEN”.

He is a Citizen of the United States because both parents are but because is was not born in a USA Territory accordingly to the Constitution he is not eligible to the office of President. Panama in 1936 (The year he was born) was LEASED and the USA holds no Territory OWNERSHIP.

People research seek the truth, An Investigator Journalist should engage and research. In 1790 an Act of Congress was passed where it said “”the children of citizens of the United States that may be born beyond Sea, or out of the limits of the United States, shall be considered as natural born Citizens”. But The Act of 1790 was superseded by the Naturalization Act of 1795 therefore the Act of 1790 it is not valid. Bold: So, to be a “natural born citizen,” a person must be born in the United States; otherwise, they are citizens by law and are naturalized.

so do you see the embarassment that is coming to the Republican party if mcCain becomes the party nominee?

As of today Ron Paul has sent out a video message to all of his supporters which confirms that he is in this thing till the end!

Do not waver, do not think we cannot win in the end. This is a fight for America and it is a worthy cause. I for one will continue to donate and canvas and support a write in campaign if I must.

Also there is a subtle call for a march on Washington DC to show our numbers and demand that we be heard. I have no details yet but you can rest assured that I will be there waving the flag of freedom!

The Ron Paul video made it very clear. You won’t see it on the news. Dr. Paul is in this for the long haul. He knows and has known what he/we are up against. That is why he is still in this. I think all the supporters new and old need to Keep the Fire Going and keep donating and spreading the word. We can not and should not let the Media bring us down. The GrassRoots need to keep up the love and send it to Ron. Lets not give our energy in the wrong direction. Keep up the good work everyone, have fun and I will see everyone in Washington for the Ron Paul March…

Libertarians are losers that will never win any contest of worth in the country! Their iedas tend to be too extreme in a comatose “Laissez Faire” fashion! There Libertarian pitch is simple sounding…let’s not regulate drugs, prostitution and business. Not regulating business would rape everyone! A utopian view of politics!

Who’s Ron Paul? He should just bow out! If he is so much on principal…hit the road! A snowball in hell has a better chance of surviving!

All the Ron Paul haters say that he should bow out, because he’s not a viable candidate. If he’s not a viable candidate, then what difference does it make to them if he keeps running?

There’s still a chance that he could decide to run on the Libertarian Party ticket — perhaps with Bob Barr as the vice presidential candidate. Or if McCain continues to look like a loser — stay in the Republican race and hope for a brokered convention. It all depends on how things play out over the next month or so.

For a great satire on the president, the mainstream media, and the war on terror, see this YouTube music video from the international award-winning zombie musical feature film, “Song of the Dead.” (www.songofthedead.com)It’ stars horror movie veteran Reggie Bannister (Phantasm, Wishmaster, Bubba Ho-tep) as the president of the U.S. The filmmaker, Chip Gubera, is giving a share of his profits from DVD sales to the Ron Paul campaign. Mike Huckabee had to beg for help to get him on the ballot in PA, and word has it that many Republicans didn’t sign the petition for McCain or did so grudgingly.

I will support Ron Paul all the way through to the convention; and if he’s not the nominee; I’ll write his name in on my ballot the general election.

I would just like to ask Jim, what is so extreme about living in accordance to the U.S. Constitution?

Is the freedom you are afraid of? Rather than be accountable for your own actions, you want to hid behind big government?

Or is free markets you are afraid of because you are too lazy to work?

Or do you prefer to be taxed to death so we could maintain a crumbling empire, like the Roman’s?

Which one of Ron Paul’s positions are you opposed to and why?

I also can not make sense of the “we have to fight them over there so we don’t have to fight them here” policy. It has been 335 weeks since 9/11/2001 and I wonder how many new terrorists may have crossed our border since then. With thousands of people crossing our border each day this would seem to be a problem unless you think Osama bin Laden is not smart enough to buy plane tickets to Mexico instead of Iraq.

The GOP has become a one issue party – pummel the Arabs. Otherwise, their candidate can support any other position from pro-abortion (like Guiliani) to pro-socialism (like Huckleberry) and it’s okay, so long as he supports pummeling the Arabs.

My sense is that if we could get all of the really disaffected people on the “right” together, e.g., Paul, Barr, Buchanan, etc., we could change the GOP and make a difference. Both Richard Viguere and Cal Thomas have recently said good things about Ron Paul. So, what’s the issue in getting all of the good people to stand up and say no to McCainiac??? Pure cowardice.

For the 23973940824907 time, Ron Paul is not scaled back or campaigning any less for the Presidency than planned. He has cut staff from states that have already voted. And he made sure that everyone knew that he is simultaneously running for re-election to congress. This is not news, just an update that it’s happening right now. It is not a shift or change of mind. Nothing has changed. Most of his campaigning is done, and has from the beginning been done, by grassroots organizers like myself. We’re still busy.

Please get your info correct.

Ru Paul is a boob. He has no chance of winning the nomination, and may lose his congressional seat. Ru Paul is the Mike Gravel of the Republican party. He barely has any delegates. Is this his master plan? Is he hoping Huckaphony will force and brokered convention? Does he honestly think that he has a shot? The man is even more delusional that I first thought. I’ll say this for him, he sure knows how to attract an army of idiots and waste their money on a pipe dream.

Note to Dan Warner: no, the key word is “or.” As in “a natural born citizen or a citizen of the United States.”

Since John McCain was born to two United States citizens, one a Naval officer, he is indeed a citizen of the United States, by birth, himself and therefore eligible to be president. Do you think he could have run for president, previously, from May of 1999 to March of 2000, withouth this having been investigated? Please, don’t look for a conspiracy here. You may not like it, but is he certainly eligible, according to the Constitution.

On a related historical note, George Romney, Mitt’s father, also ran for president, back in 1968; and the elder Romney had been born to American citizens, living in Mexico. Again, since he was born to two American citizens, he was a citizen from birth and eligible to run for president. Remember, the key word is “or” as in “A natural born citizen or a citizen of the United States.”

Like John McCain, that story was vetted and George Romney was eligible to be president. Unfortunately (perhaps) for the country, the eldge Romney dropped out of the race, early in 1968; and that led to the return of Richard Nixon. Most likely, George Romney would have made a much better president than Nixon, and probably better than his son, also. George Romney was a successful and popular governor of Michigan; and going back further, the head of the (now defunct) American Motors Corporation, in its heyday.

The media tries to pretend that Ron Paul does not exist. The media should not choose our next president. Ron Paul has a lot more support then everyone wants to admit. I live in AZ and was not able to vote for him in our Primary because of our state rules (that’s right I can’t vote for who I want). There have also been stories of his name being “accidentally left off the ballot” and people making up statements that he has dropped out of the campaign. THE GOVERNMENT IS AFRAID OF A CANDIDATE LIKE RON PAUL. HE SUPPORTS THE PEOPLE OF THIS COUNTRY AND OUR RIGHTS. How could anyone really vote for someone who thinks that we should be in Iraq for the next 100 years? Then on to Iran? How many more people have to die for special interests? If we actually needed our troops in the U.S. we wouldn’t even have any available to protect us. They are all in other countries where they should not be. Bring our troops home and protect our borders. Why even waste anymore time? We do not have the right to be the police of the world nor should we. We our destroying our own economy by fighting wars that we can’t win.

Our Government prints money out of thin air and borrows more from other countries then we can ever pay back which is killing us and the value of our dollar is rapidly dropping. Do you really think that the government brainwashed zombies and liars have done a good job with our country so far? Bush has been one of the worst presidents in history. You all fell for his BS. He used the emotions of our country after 9/11 to put us in a war that benefits him, his friends, and his family members. Why allow them to throw us further down? Fighting wars that can never be won and wasting our hard earned money on their special interests. The companies that get bids to do jobs in countries where we are at war, they get over paid, and the money trail always comes back to people in the Government that are in some way affiliated with that company.

ACCORDING TO THE CONSTITUTION THE GOVERNMENT HAS NO RIGHT TO TAX US. THEY TAKE OUR MONEY AND USE IT FOR THEIR INTERESTS. THEY SPEND OUR TAX MONEY ON WHATEVER THEY WANT. Then they want to send us a small check to keep us quiet. Its time for us all to stand up for ourselves and fight this!!!

Ron Paul supporters and Libertarians are the only groups of people that have the kind of convictions that this country was founded on (social, philosophical, and religious). They are the only group that still understands what freedom means. If Bob Barr would run as a Libertarian, that would be great. The nice thing about voting Libertarian is that the platform is based in Reason, you would be confident every time that whoever runs as a Libertarian, would have nearly the same stance every time. It would be nice for the Libertarians to slowly reclaim the Republican Party in the same way it was taken by the neocons.

It would be nice for the Libertarian types to slowly reclaim the Republican Party in the same way it was taken by the neocons and their false gods. It would help all of society - churches, civic organizations, businesses and individuals. But to do this you need to start by retaking the churches.

Look into the hostile takeover of the Southern Baptist Convention and you will see how Bush and others were really elected. It started as a political movement within the SBC, and you can Google “Ralph Elliott Controversy Presslar Patterson” to start your search to understand the slow and steady takeover process that the Texas NeoCons used to take over the Republican party starting within the Southern Baptist churches. Its sad that 98% of all churches, temples, etc… are now just used for networking, politics, and various other such sleazy activities. It’s terrible that going to church is now being seen as a sort of sleazy selfish activity, kind of kin to working in - or frequenting - a brothel, but that’s the times we live in. Join in every Sunday and pimp your own choice of candidate -it works. If you haven’t been for a while, do go…all they talk about is politics nowadays, so much so that they don’t even notice it anymore. The two percent of churches that are still true to their purpose, are unfortunately at risk of loosing their credibility as well. NEVER GET YOUR GOD INTO POLITICS, this is why there are so many books out promoting atheism and why they are becoming more and more popular.
