Watercooler ammunition for Democrats: They won the generic ballot race

If you’re a Democrat, this is the number you should be cheering about: 1,012,747.

That’s how many Democratic votes are recorded on Secretary of State Karen Handel’s web site this morning.

That’s 52 percent of all ballots counted.

The Republican vote total comes to 937,604.

The morning numbers put turnout at more than 43 percent. A record, we think.

In the 1988 presidential primary, turnout hit 40 percent, with 622,752 Democratic ballots cast and 400,928 Republican ones.

For Hillary Clinton supporters, the news in Georgia was pretty grim. We advise quickly shifting the subject to California.

According to our exit polling:

— Hillary Clinton won white women by 56 percent, virtually the only demographic group she claimed last night. Barack Obama even won among white men, albeit narrowly.

— Clinton also won among people over 65 years old, but no other age group.

— While in other states we’ve seen Clinton do well among lower income households and those who never went to college, there was no blue-collar bump for her here.

— 92 percent of Democrats who voted Tuesday rated the economy “not so good” or “poor.”

— There were signs of a Bill Clinton backlash. About a quarter of Democratic voters said they had an unfavorable opinion of President Bill Clinton. Of those, more than 80 percent voted for Obama.

— All in all, Clinton can say she finished a close third in a five-person race. And Romney finished last. The current totals:

Obama: 671,158 votes

Huckabee: 318,860

Clinton: 315,633

McCain: 295,242

Romney: 283,205

Get ready you filthy Republican scum - the Democrats are taking America BACK! No more right wing corruption! No more bogus Iraq war! No more hate, racism, and bigotry! No more redneck stupidity! America is sick and tired of the failed conservative agenda and the corrupt and stupid people who believe in that discredited ideology. Georgia will vote for Hillary/Obama in November and so will nearly every other state. Get used to it Republicans - your failed “revolution” is over, and by the way, Ronald Reagan was a drooling retard who wore diapers.

Keep in mind that a fellow named Jesus was a highly esteemed Democrat leaner. He didn’t care much for war, starvation, etc. either. Sounds like we need a couple of attitude adjustments here - get over the mindless rhetoric (on both sides) already.

Dearest BLAH - I don’t hate Republicans. I hate that your impotence and lack of success with women has made you so bitter. If you ever need to talk, I’m here for you.

Then again, pretty much everything has been “decided” for us by the Republiscums - upon whom we will wage unprovoked invasions, the lessening of our freedom (speech, privacy, name it), who will own the national debt (currently China), etc. Yes, they’ve done SUCH a wonderful job, and the “dumbing down of America” has certainly - well, um, worsened. No idiot left behind?

Saying that Jesus was a “Democrat leaner” demonstrates the principal fallacy in the liberal thought process. It’s true that Jesus demonstrates many of the values that liberals hold dear. It’s not true that Jesus in any way advocated that those values should be imposed on the populace by government, which is the heart of the liberal/ democratic agenda.

Which party is really the party of hate? Which party is the party of division? Who is angry and way? If anger never solved anything why would you be angry?

Jesus was a liberal, a radical for his time. He would not have sided with conservative Republicans—the Pharisees of his day. Jesus hung out with women (who were considered property), the poor, the prostitutes, the disenfranchised, the working classes—all the people largely ignored by conservatives.

how about we leave jesus out of this gutter we call politics. he would be neither democrat or republican. both parties has it’s good and bad points, even though they are too few in number. i would like to see a third party arise that encompasses the good that both parties possess. Jesus would not be caught in our lying your way into office process we call democracy.

Just because your guy or gal doesn’t win doesn’t mean you can’t work with them. If you have serious policy differences then focus on other issues. Once you forge a working relationship around common issues you can then work on the bigger issues.

Jesus wasn’t a democrat, he was an anarchist. Stop trying to get God on your side, he/she doesn’t care who is running the country.

blah, blah, blah, Reagan was great, you mean the same guy that made deals with the Iranians and drug cartels, remember Iran-Contra? the same guy that made a deal with the Iranians to release the hostages. the same guy that cut and run from Lebanon. the same guy that raised taxes, that’s right, RAISED TAXES you numbskulls! that’s your biggest thing. the same guy that started this problem of illegal immigration with his amnesty by supporting large corporations first before the needs of the American people. and he didn’t end the cold war, he was there at the end and he helped, but you have to look at the Soviet system, it wasn’t going to last, then what about all of the people before him, they did nothing? Kennedy, Ike, nobody did anything? then what about John Paul II? or Lech Walesa and the Solidarity movement in the Gdansk shipyards of Poland. plus the Soviets had their own version of the Vietnam War in Afghanistan, that contributed to their demise, and was a problem before the U.S. got involved. and we should have never gotten involved, we’re paying for it now. we should have let the Muslims fight the Russians forever, they’re right next door, white and Christian, we should stay out of it. but no, we have to base our economy on defense contracting instead of solar energy, wind energy, bio-energy, wave energy, water conservation, hydroelectric, etc. instead of products for war that make us have to keep starting wars and getting involved in wars that make people hate us! and now 20 years later we have the same problem with the economy that we had at the end of the Reagan term and for all of the Bush term, a crappy economy that hurts ordinary Americans. when are you idiots gonna wise up and stop following the mindless propaganda and start putting your country ahead of politicians?

freedom is not freedom if everyone has to think just like you. and I’m talking to the Republicans. and just because someone doesn’t share your misquided blind faith doesn’t mean that they automatically want to tax everyone to death and give all that money only to the laziest slackers out there. only a stupid person would believe something like that. there are positive alternatives the people like George Bush and Dick Cheney. they’ve hurt this country terribly and that is neither Patriotic, nor Christian nor does it in any way help our children. the funniest thing in the world is gonna be when George Bush confidently saunters up to the Pearly Gates and Jesus is standing there and says “uh-uh-uh….turn around George, see that slide over there? it takes more than good speeches to be a real Christian, it takes good deeds.”

Since Jesus was Jewish, and in Judaism there are not abortion issues, that is a moot point.

Judge not? That’s in the Bible right?

And dude….can you make a coherent thought?

I would not get all excited about the higher Dem turnout. Most Reps I know chose not to vote yesterday as none of the candidates really excite them. However, they will all vote in the general because none of them want Barak or Hillary.

We don’t know what Jesus thought of abortion or gay marriage.

We do know what he thought of divorce. When you bible thumpers make that an issue you may gain some credibility.

Constitutional ban on divorce anyone?

After all Jesus calls it an abomination.

How about a ban on public prayer while we’re at it.

As a Democrat, I’m cautiously optimistic about the higher turnout for Democrats not just in Georgia, but in other states in which both parties vote on the same day. Republicans have typically been less enthusiastic not just in the presidential race, but in other races. Plus, many independents and weak Republicans have started to cross over toward the Democrats.

GHU: Last time I checked, completing a full term in the Senate was not a requirement to run for President.

Technically, you don’t even have to be a lawyer… just incredibly rich.

By God Help Us

February 6, 2008 6:41 PM | Link to this

Yoy are right Copyleft all you have to do is convince the uninitiated that you are not uninitiated and get an old drunk senator named Kennedy to back you. Barak Hussien Obama has said he is all about change but he dosent say how he is going to change anything. He says he would bring the troops home from Iraq in 18 months which anyone with any knowledge of the situation over there knows would be a huge mistake unless you would like to fight the radical insurgents in the streets of America. That would be tough to do also considering he wants to take law abiding Americans weapons away from them. Go ahead believe the rhetoric with no substance but if he gets elected you will be sorry mark my words!
