Two GOP polls, an evangelical push for Huckabee, and thinking about the next vote — in 2012
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Insider Advantage has a poll today that shows Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney with a statistically insignificant lead over John McCain in Georgia.
The IA survey puts Romney at 30 percent; McCain at 29 percent, and Mike Huckabee at 28 percent. Margin of error is plus or minus 5 percentage points.
But a second firm, Public Policy Polling of North Carolina, also issued some survey results this afternoon that showed McCain at 31 percent; Romney at 29 percent; and Huckabee at 27 percent.
And we’ve talked to two evangelical leaders, separately and in the space of 30 minutes, who predict that when the dust settles on Tuesday, the ranking will be McCain, Huckabee and Romney.
We’re told of an e-mail that’s being passed among religious conservative voters, urging them to line up behind Huckabee — not with victory in mind, but to give the former Arkansas governor a strong showing so that he might serve as a watchdog when the topic of abortion comes up before the platform committee of the Republican National Convention this summer.
We’ll try to get you a copy of it.
Meanwhile, despite the fact that the top three Republican presidential candidates have shown up in Georgia in the past three days, Senate president pro tem Eric Johnson says he’s disappointed by the lack of attention the state has received by moving up its presidential primary to Feb. 5.
Perhaps, he said, Georgia ought to look at delaying its 2012 vote by a week.
“We might be better off as a single stand instead of a group of states,” he said.

This is wonderful news! The more people learn about Romney, the more they like him. Romney is a fine family man, an incredible business man, a terrific governor. He’s also very generous - did you know that he did not take a salary as gov of MA or head of the Olympics?
Go to mittromney.com to see where Romney stands on the issues. I also like evangelicalsformitt.com and http://blog.electromneyin2008.com/

The stakes are high on Super Tuesday for the republican parties’ presidential contenders, but it could not be higher for them than it is for America. It is very important for the voter to do some homework this weekend so that we as a nation do not end up with a severe case of buyers’ remorse on Wednesday morning. We must be true to our roots and not allow the wolves in sheep’s clothing to rob us blind, and deprive us of who we are, and what we represent as a people once enlightened with the vision of Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan, and George Bush. There are wolves and they have been running a well coordinated attack, and have already taken some of our associates down. These wolves have us on the run and have begun to strategically divide us, and scatter us in preparation for the final move, the destruction of liberty. They want to chase us down the dark road too socialism. We need to rally around our core principles and adhere to them. We must ensure the safety, and success of our parties’ great but now endangered legacy. We need to rise up with a united voice and cast our vote this coming Tuesday, to the only conservative out there; that man is Mitt Romney. Vote Mitt Romney President of the United States of America in 2008. http://libertysfront.blogspot.com/

“Mr. Romney has spent about $100 million [$87.6 million, actually] to have basically the same number of delegates as I have and I’ve spent about $7 million. You know with the business background he has, you’d think by this point with his Harvard-educated MBA, he’d come to the conclusion that he’s not selling his soap very well if it takes that kind of money to have no more market share than I’ve got for about a fifteenth of the expenditure. So I’ve got a suggestion, Mr. Romney, rather than Mitt drop out, why don’t you give it up and go back to Boston!”
“I want to make real sure that he understands something. This old Arkansas boy is not for sale. He doesn’t have enough money to buy me. I’m not some troubled company that he can buy, sell off the assets and send us home. There’s a whole lot of people like me in this country who are tired of people waving their checkbooks at us and making us think they own us and they can buys us. Well you can’t buy us, you can’t even rent us. We’re not for sale. We’re going to the polls Tuesday and we’re going to show America this country is about ordinary people who believe in the extraordinary power of the American dream and we’re going to prove it at the ballot box Tuesday.” -Mike Huckabee- Tell it like it is Governor Huckabee!!!

Listen up Evangelicals, ONLY a vote for MITT ROMNEY in Republican primaries is a vote AGAINST MCCAIN, a loser that is being aggressively imposed on us by the establishment and the “mainstream” media. By casting your vote on ANY OTHER candidate you will be helping MCCAIN to win the Republican nomination.

There is only one candidate who has a consistent conservative voting record and that is Gov Huckabee.
Both Romney and McCain have changed their stand on issues based on whoever they are trying to attract. This election we need a candidate who is a proven leader and a proven conservative.

I got called by this bogus InsiderAdvantage poll. Every time I indicated I was going to vote in the Democratic Primary, by pressing zero, it said “invalid response.” So, I figured I’d just skew the results a bit. I indicated I’d vote in that other parties primary, and that I’d vote for Paul.
Some great poll.

Never had to wash dishes, or work on a car, never had to work his way through school. His slippery positions will not unite this country after the election. He will not stand a chance of winning against the Dems. A vote for him is a wasted vote for our party. Yes, I’m conservative, but I’m an American first. I want a leader who is solid in principle, who has great ideas for our future and someone that I can trust and give my kids a President that they can look up to. I’m afraid Romney isn’t that guy, and while I am proud of McCain for being a hero, and a lifetime servant of our country, I’m afraid he won’t change our tax system, and that he will start new wars. If I am only voting for my party’s nominee(which I might not after the nomination), then it’s Huckabee first, then McCain. I cannot vote for Romney at all. I cannot trust him. I look forward to your responses.

Keep in mind that just a couple of years ago when Romney was running for Gov he was pro abortion. Also while he was gov the overall tax burden of the citizens went up. Especially on the small business owners and the middle class.
Does not sound like a conservative to me.
If you want your voice heard vote for Mike Huckabee!!!

These two things are most important: A) That women NEVER be trusted or allowed to make decisions about their own bodies, and B) That multi-national corporations be allowed to make decisions affecting all mankind with no regulation whatsoever, and by the way, throw them an extra tax break too. The GOP is all about FREEDOM! You know, depending on who you are…..

What’s the difference between Huckabee and Romney?
Huckabee was governor of AR for 10 1/2 years. Romney was a single-term governor of MA. Huckabee has more experience managing a government.
Huckabee and Romney have many of the same positions… on paper. But Romney has documented liberal leanings (far more so than McCain). In other words, his words are now conservative… but his record is liberal. Huckabee’s words AND record have always been conservative.
By the way, I saw a poll that indicated Huckabee supporters are actually taking more votes from McCain than they are from Romney. I myself would choose McCain over Romney any day of the week.
So I don’t think Huckabee is staying in the race to SUPPORT McCain. If it weren’t for Huckabee, McCain would probably have the election clinched.
Huckabee attacks Romney more often than McCain, probably because McCain has kept a civil tone toward Huckabee (Romney hasn’t) and because Romney is more liberal than McCain… at least in terms of his RECORD rather than his TALK.
I’m a Huckabee supporter and I will absolutely vote for Huckabee tomorrow.

I received an e-mail this morning from the Huckabee campaign saying they were receiving phone reports that the media was broadcasting a false message from the Huckabee campaign saying, “Mike Huckabee is requesting that you vote for John McCain because he can’t win on SuperTuesday.” Unconfirmed reports also have a robo-dial going out to Huckabee voters with the same message.
I have never seen such DIRTY POLITICS as the McCain and Romney campaigns have engaged in this year. And the conservative talk show hosts have been trying to shove Romney down our throats.
I will be voting for Huckabee and let the chips fall. If McCain wins the nomination, this will be the year of the perfect storm for an Independent candidate to win the White House, which might not be such a bad thing.

Please watch this video for me before you vote. The media is influenced by money, we all know that.
As a U.S. Marine supporting my Country, I ask you to do one thing for us. Watch one youtube video. The video is a contrast between Mitt Romney, John Mccain, and Mike Huckabee. (not a Ron Paul video)
I love the USA. Will you watch it for the sake of our Country?

Don’t waste your time, you diseased right wing sleaze. No Republican will win the Presidency. Conservatism is dead. Republicanism is dead. The American people are sick to death of the corruption and crimes, the waste and the stupidity.
You fools are toast. Give it up. Republicans will be out of power for the next 200 years. Leave it to the bucktoothed hillbillies and rednecks of Georgia to turn Republican just in time for the rest of the nation to repudiate that disgusting ideology.

Janet Huckabee ran for secretary of State in 2002, in which she was “perceived as thin-skinned, even mean-spirited,” says Janine Parry, a political-science professor at the University of Arkansas. Huckabee attacked her opponent over a past DWI conviction and suggested, without verification, that he still had a drinking problem. Responding to critics who questioned her use of state vehicles and troopers to campaign, she told The New York Times, “If it wasn’t for the grace of God, I’d have shot a few people already.” She got trounced in her race—voters saw her run as an unseemly power play by the couple—and nearly dragged down her husband in his re-election bid that year.

Perhaps the media should drop out of this race. If Romney wins, its a clear sign that the presidency can be purchased. What a great country we will be then! Perhaps, I’ll move. I’d rather live in a communist country, like China, than one that worships the dollar (becoming the only acceptable religion here it seems). Capitalism and democracy together is great, but we are losing our democracy to control by corporations and big money- Capitalism is becoming more powerful than the people to control. This is not freedom and democracy, it will be our downfall. Paul makes sense, like Huckabee, but Huckabee has the proven track record - Give the other candidates a quick study at their websites. I’m for Huckabee.

I voted for Huckabee in Michigan. I do not believe or trust Romney. Huckabee is the best candidate. The only way I would vote for Romney is if he runs against Hillary. if it is Obama versus Romney, I am voting Obama. People need to listen to Huckabee he is the true conservative.

Mitt was a quitter who left Massachusetts after one term. Perhaps money cannot buy you a second term, once you are a known commodity? He was succeded by an ultra liberal Democrat, largely because Mitt failed to support his Lt. Governor. Massachusetts is frequently called the “Gay State” now, playing on its earlier nickname as the Bay State. Traditional values are under constant attack here! Thanks Mitt!

Supposedly only Republican Evangelicals support Huckabee. I’m neither an Evangelical nor a Republican and yet I like Mike. That might make me feel like an oddball, except I know a bunch of others — Democrats, Independents, Catholics, etc., who feel the same way. I can’t vote for Huckabee tomorrow because of my party affiliation, but I wish I could. Let’s resist media stereotypes and vote our own consciences and principles!
