Support for a third party? Not so much

Tom Crawford at Capitol Impact has come across a Gallup poll that throws cold water on the third-party candidacy of Michael Bloomberg — and any former Georgia senator the New York mayor might ask to be his running mate.

Says Crawford:

In a nationwide telephone poll of 2,010 randomly selected adults conducted Jan. 10-13, respondents were asked: “Is there any candidate running this year that you think would make a good president, or not?” An overwhelming 85 percent said “yes,” compared to just 11 percent who answered “no.”

Respondents were also asked, “Are the presidential candidates talking about the issues you really care about, or not?” While 72 percent answered “yes,” only 24 percent answered “no.”

“The data show that Americans are quite positive about the candidates running for president so far, and believe they have suggested good solutions to the nation’s problems, marking a sharp contrast with what these same measures showed in early 1992,” said Frank Newport of Gallup.

“Thus, while dissatisfaction in general is high, the American public does not appear to believe it is important or necessary for an independent candidate outside of the traditional two major parties to step into the race in order to save the nation,” Newport added.

Which candidate has addressed the following major challenges this country faces? * Revamping the public education system to prepare the kids of tomorrow with the knowledge and skills to successfully compete in a global economy. * Developing specific plans and notional time lines to reach energy independence, including alternative energy sources. * Developing specific incentives to attract and retain corporations within the boundaries of the US, vice forcing them to either close or flee the shores of the US due to ‘the cost of doing business in the US’. * Revitalizing the US military to the strength levels pre 1992, and focusing new weapons systems on artificial intelligence and robotics. * Maintaining the world’s best health care system without burdening it with increased government control.
* Fixing social security, MEDICARE and MEDICAID NOW before it collaspes under its own weight.

Now, which candidate (democrat or republican) did you suggest is addressing the above issues??

I dont really trust Gallups poll either…I think MOST Americans are FED up with the oppressive ‘two party’ system and how they have choked our once greater nation.

and YES, we PRAY there will be an INDEPENDENT choice in Dr. Ron Paul, after the Republicans throw him out for being TOO Republican.

Ron Paul/Mitt Romney 2008? Ron Paul/Newt Gingrich 2008? Ron Paul/Joe Lieberman 2008? Ron Paul/Dennis Kucincich 2008?

Who will Dr. Paul pick? Sadly, Harry Browne and Aaron Russo have departed…STRIVE to be SMARTER than a demopublican.
