Here they come: Edwards on Friday, Obama on Sunday

The John Edwards campaign is headed to Atlanta on Friday afternoon, according to Macon blogger and Edwards supporter Amy Morton. Details to come. His last appearance was at the Depot.

And as predicted, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama will be in Atlanta on Sunday for the Martin Luther King festivities, his campaign said today.

Details of the Illinois senator’s visit have not been released, but one report on InsiderAdvantage, says Obama will appear at Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta.

We’ve got an inquiry into Hillary Clinton supporters. You’ve got to think won’t want to be left out.

Beginning to find the Clintons increasingly irritating. They would have never set foot in the Whitehouse in the 90’s had it not been for the African American vote. African Americans stood by him when he had few friends in Washington — even within his own party. I recall that Jesse Jackson was the one who ‘ministered’ to Clinton after he was caught lying in the ‘Monica’ affair.

Now that Hillary is being given a little competition for the first time in her career, they are truly playing a racist card — NOT A RACE CARD, BUT A RACIST CARD!

How do you explain Hillary statement on who deserved the credit for the civil rights laws? How do you explain Bill’s statement that Obama is a ‘fairy tale and a kid’? And, what blew me away, how can you explain Cuomo’s statement regarding Obama’s campaign on January 11??

What did the Clinton operative have in mind when he (Cuomo) made the following statement? Everything the Clintons do is scripted. Why is it that Hillary, Bill and now Cuomo making such ‘slips of the tongue — all after Hilliary being whipped in Iowa?? Note the following:

Can we please move forward? What has been said is already in the universe now. Who is keeping what was said alive? Obama is not playing the race card. What he has done is performed better than expected. Now is his time. This race is exciting to me. I am a Republican and for the first time in decades, I will vote Democrat-that is only if Obama is the nominee. If he isn’t, it’s back to voting Republican.

I’m an Edwards supporter but, if it means keeping Hillary away from the nomination, I will gladly stand with Obama. My party cannot withstand another four or eight years of Clintons and their constant manipulation of the facts.

The only way the Republicans can keep the White House is to nominate Hillary. This is not a race/gender issue but rather one of truth and candor. Edwards and Obama represent the best in the Democratic party. The Clintons represent the worst.

I’m excited about this election, too. And I’m growing also irritated with the Clintons. When Hillary pulls herself back from the brink, Bill becomes baggage with his stupid remarks. I won’t feel sorry for Hillary when she loses because the two of them are jeopardizing her campaign. Obama is running on a platform of unity, and is showing us all with his repeated successes that America can get past themselves and not continue to judge a man based on the color of his skin, but by the intelligence he posesses. He’s energizing, galvanizing and entirely presidential NOW. Like Martin Luther and then Robert Kennedy, who had refreshing new messages, I hope Obama can remain safe and out of the rifle crosshairs of some lunatic.

Obama is not in any fight. He is only responding to the questions asked. For some reason someone is trying to pin this on him. Who is talking on radio and television about it ? Ignore the talk Obama. Move ahead and don’t address the “small childish stuff”.

I tend to agree with you abh, Obama seems to be trying desparately - and wisely - to stay away from divisive racial politics. For the sake of national unity I hope the Clintons aren’t successful in what appears to be a strategy aimed at dragging this guy - and the ‘unsuspecting’ electorate and media - into the gutter. Gosh, it does indeed appear as if they’ll stop at nothing in their quest to get elected.

Personally, I don’t think anyone is playing a race card. I think we just have a lot of enthusiastic candidates trying to win a primary. I’m excited to see so many strong candidates going out for the Democratic party this time!!!

And I’m excited that both Obama and Edwards will be in the Atlanta area. Sometimes it makes all the difference in the world to hear these candidates speak in person.

I’ve gone to listen to them in the past, and actually being there in person has helped me make an informed decision.

I hope it is announced through the media where and when each will be speaking. And I hope Clinton comes to Atlanta as well. I, for one, will go to all three to hear them speak.

Right now, my vote is going for Obama. I think he’s optimistic, has great ideas for the United States, encourages the public to get involved. I think he’d make a terrific President.

As far as people saying he isn’t experienced enough - I think 4 years in the State Senate and 3 years in the U.S. Senate is more experience than a Governor would have, and we’ve had presidents elected that were governors. And, personally, I think his experience is more than that of the wife of a governor, who then became the wife of a president! Hillary claims to have 35 years experience, but considering her age, that brings her back to when she graduated college. Until her husband ran for Governor, she was an attorney. If it weren’t for Bill’s elections, she’d still be an Arkansas attorney. What experience Obama has, he won on his own accord.

Looking forward to their visits!

What is funny is to hear all this talk of “what a bunch of great choices we have in democrat race” but all they are is a bunch of racist hippie socialists. Democrats lose almost every election. Bill Clinton won by lying and smearing. Democrats and liberals are equally stupid people. Go Mitt!

This is all great discourse and I think it is helpful to our democracy to not just annoint these candidates, but make them battle it our. I don’t think the Clintons are racists, but I do think that they are confirming everything the Republican Demagogues have ever said about them. I think that you can take the weakest Republican candidate which to me are all of those running and they will beat Hilliary, not cause the policies are better, but because of the same old devisive tactics that will keep things country divided, we should not want that as a people and have all the gridlock in Washington. I hope that decent like minded Americans can get past Skin color and if a vote is cast for or against I certainly hope that race was not a factor. This is probaly a fairy tale to quote Bill Clinton, but one can hope and that’s a good thing.

I am soo disappointed over this whole mlk issue with the Clintons. And even more disappointed that the media has blown this up bigger than it even needed to be. Barack did not even comment on the issue other to defend himself and was STILL dragged into it. I pray that the Clintons’ dirty political games backfire on them and make voters WAKE UP and do the research themselves.

I love how the libs generalize all conservatives. They take their conventional wisdom seriously, then when things don’t work out for them they wonder why? Their world view does not allow for conservative pragmatism, and they simply cry foul when thier candidates and ideas are rejected. Kepp it up libs. I want you guys to continue in your myopic view of conservatives and conservatism.

Hey “Republican” - I can’t believe you used the words ‘lying’ and ‘Go Mitt’ in the same paragraph!!! Ha Ha Ha Ha! That was really funny!

Let’s see who you have running … McCain - who is the only candidate who is Pro-Bush and thinks we should be killing off all of our 20 year olds in Iraq; Romney - who just changes his verbage according to who he’s talking to - even making up stories; Huckabee - who seems like a nice man, but is only running on a Christian ticket and doesn’t have the presence of a President; Guilliani who thinks he’s a movie star just because he was the mayor of NYC during 9/11; and, speaking of movie stars, Thompson who is so serious and right-winged when he’s speaking, it looks like he’s playing his role on Law and Order!!! The only one that makes any sense at all running for the Republicans is Ron Paul, and he should be a Democrat, because that’s where all his beliefs seem to be. So obviously he won’t win the Republican nomination!

Go Obama!! Go Edwards!!

As far as Democrats losing most of the elections - I believe we won the House and Senate during the last elections.

Oh, and thanks for the name calling! That always helps show just how intelligent someone is. Thanks again for the laugh!

ObamaGyrl, that’s what the media does, blow things out of purportion to make headlines. Except for the debates and a daily catch up on the headlines, we all need to turn off the TV’s and only scan the local paper for local news. 7x24 coverage is TOO MUCH and gives the media (all channels) the opportunity to distort perception and then run into into the ground. I can’t stand talk shows, news shows….one shot at the news per day….that is IT for me.

By Alex Phillips

blah, blah, blah, I absolutely agree with you. We are all going to have to go to rehab for information overdose. That is what the media does, they build you up and all is lovey duby, then….smash. They begin to destroy you a piece at a time. The talk shows, new shows, etc are very biased and they all have slants and motives. I think the debates, and a cursory glance at the newspaper and then looking at each of these candidates stances on the issues is what us as informed voters should be paying attention to.

That is an excellent observation…Who is running? I think Bill is trying circumvent the constitution and get a pseudo 3rd term. Now guys think with all this back a forth this is what we would have to deal with if Hillary gets elected. Bill will always be the mouthpiece for Hillary and this is what will happen if she gets elected. Constant fighting and there will alway be fighting in Washington, and I am sure Obama knows this to, but not like it will be with the Clintons back at 1600 penn. ave.

By jake

Hilary nor Bill is playing the race card. What Hilary said about King is factually correct. She did not denigrate King-She only pointed out that in order to take King’s dream to the next level (Legislation) you needed a president with strong leadership abilities. That is all. And Bill Clinton was talking contrasting positions between the two candidates on the Iraq war when he made the Fairy Tale Statement. He was not talking about Obama’s candidacy. This is much about nothing and to keep dragging it out is a disgrace to Obama and the Clintons and the spirit of this campaign. Obama supporters (and I am one) should realize that if they believe in the universal themes of Barak and his moving beyond the issue of race-then they shouldn’t hide behind the race card when he is subjected to criticism. Barak is a big boy and he know how to run with the big dogs. The race bone does not need to be thrown.

Hey Churchill - “Libs generalize all conservatives”? Real the response from “Republican” who referred to Democrats as: “a bunch of racist hippie socialists”.

Why is it that whenever there’s a political blog on the table, Republicans seem to respond with insults rather than an intelligent answer. If you don’t have something constructive to say, please, save us all the time of reading your response and don’t answer at all!

I used to like Hillary, but like the majority on this board, her tactics and strategy are getting irritating and petty. I just watched an interview this Sunday where she avoided answering questions directly that pertained to Obama. It was the intervew where she was asked if Obama was a “Work Horse” or a “Show Horse”. Of course, she avoided answering that question.

It’s like the Clintons are throwing subliminal messages then try to say they didn’t mean what they said and they it was misinterpreted.

My vote is for Obama.

I saw the same interview Sunday…Obama can hardly be called a work horse. If Hillary had said Obama was a show horse, then she’d be derided for being mean. What else was she to say? It’s like being asked when you stopped beating your wife. Besides, it’s up to voters to decide if Obama really has any substance, not Hillary.

Not that anyone’s asking that question, they’re too busy being wowed by Obama, the direct heir of JFK/MLK, by his virtue of being inexperienced and African-American. His actual qualifications mean nothing, he makes people feel good, so he doesn’t have to answer questions. Nice setup for him.

What ‘Americans’ are ready for, Mr. Obomba, are solutions to our early 21st century problems unencumbered by considerations of whether the problem solvers are male or female, black, white, or other. What ‘Americans’ are ready for is a real future for themselves and their children that comports with the fact that the world in which we live has DRAMATICALLY changed over the past 20 years, and it shows no signs of reverting to late 20th century realities. Your Mr. Edwards may very well be the one to lead development of those solutions, but if he is it won’t be because he’s white and male; it’ll be because ‘Americans’ are convinced he’s the best PERSON for the job.

Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were sitting at the bar, drinking in silence. Suddenly, Hillary turns and without warning, cold cocks Obama, knocking him off his barstool.

After a moment Obama regains enough of his senses to say “What the hell did you do that for?”

Clinton replies “That was for destroying the World Trade Centers!”

Barack responds “I didn’t destroy the World Trade Centers. That was Osama Bin Laden.”

Clinton answers “Osama, Obama - same damn thing.”

Obama shakes his head, climbs back onto his stool and continues with his drinking. Several minutes later, he turns to Clinton and without warning, cold cocks her and knocks her to the floor.

Getting to her knees and shaking her head to clear it, she demands “What the hell did you do that for?”

Obama responds “That was for lying to the Grand Jury, obstructing justice and for disgracing our country and the Office of the President.”

Clinton answers “I didn’t do any of that, it was my husband Bill Clinton.”

Barack responds “Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton - same damn thing.”

I can’t believe Black Americans. Here you have the chance to elect a Black man to the highest position in the world and what do you do. You back an old white woman who doesn’t give a crap about the black community. If the illegal aliens were able to vote do you think for a minute that Hillary and her cheating husband would care about your vote. If you listen to both Clinton and Obama their views are the same. But most of you still have that slave mentality and believe that only a white person is your only salvation. I am sick of this. Black American stand up for your race and show Hillary that you don’t need her to complete you and that we have a new champion and his name is Barack Obama.

Quite frankly I am glad that former President Bill Clinton is coming to the aid of his wife, Senator Hillary Clinton and my candidate for the Democratic nominee in 2008. She has the experience, drive, and necessary qualities it takes to be the leader of the free world. unlike Senator Barack Obama, she has substance and the grit to clean up the mess we have had under George W. Bush. During the campaigning, the race card has been trumped and at the forefront of Obama’s remarks is his ghetto-a*, loud-mouthed wife, Michelle. Now let me get this straight, a former President who has done more for civil rights than Obama has even dreamed of, cannot criticize and call out Obama but Barack’s wife gets up there and the whole African American community listens. Well, listen to this, all Democrats. If Senator Obama is the nominee, which I know he won’t be, well, I am going to vote for senator John McCain. This is how serious Obama’s campaign is. It is turning democrats away and making them consider a Republican. So, in the spirit of freedom of speech, will someone hut Micelle Obama up?

To the Clinton Klan: Stay home you are not wanted here. Your words represent what you truly are; liars, cheats, people who exploit uninformed masses.

This election is about the ECONOMY STUPID!!! Just like all of them should be, take care of Americans first then help others second.

There are two candidates, one from each side that represent some possible hope for our children and their children. Obama and Romney bring a fresh new perspective to this national stage. The rest of the candidates look, sound and will ultimately be the same crap we have had for the past 20+ years.

Fix the economy and Americans will be re-employed. 7,000+ Americans applying for work at Walmart in Decatur; since when did Walmart become an employer of choice!!!

Our system is broken and Clinton, McCain, Edwards, etc. represent what is wrong. People who have no real skills and talent (example: current Pres) making decisions that affect the lives of hard working Americans.
