Ralph Reed and John McCain: Together again, from a distance
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A Washington Post blog today ponders CNN’s decision to bring Republican strategist Ralph Reed on as an analyst for the GOP presidential race.
The newspaper dwells on the history between Reed and John McCain, winner of Tuesday’s New Hampshire primary.
As chairman of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee, McCain uncovered much of the Jack Abramoff scandal, and detailed Reed’s association with now-imprisoned Washington lobbyist. The revelations cost Reed his shot at lieutenant governor in 2006.
McCain also won New Hampshire in 2000, trouncing George W. Bush. The GOP race then moved to South Carolina, where a hard-hitting rumor campaign sank McCain’s boat. Reed was in charge of direct mail for the Bush campaign in the state.
Reed was one of several analysts used by CNN as the votes rolled in from New Hampshire on Tuesday. CNN says the former state GOP chairman and ex-leader of the Christian Coalition was not paid for his appearance.
The writer of the Post item, incidentally, is Susan Schmidt, who picked up a Pulitzer for her coverage of the Abramoff scandal.

Ralph Reed is a corrupt and humiliating disgrace to himself, his family, to Georgia, and to America. Most people are not aware of Ralph Reed’s active involvement in white supremacist causes. That’s because he has kept them as quiet as possible in order to appear “mainstream.” But the truth about Ralph Reed’s racist white supremacy activities will be revealed if he ever makes the mistake of running for office ever again. Not that he will - his humiliating defeat in 2006 has sealed his fate as a pathetic loser who will never, ever win elective office anywhere in America.

I’m a diehard Republican, but I’ve gotta tell ya — any Republican at odds with Ralphie is okay in my book. He’s a manipulative little toad. Makes me like McCain even more.

Ralphie obviously made some aggregious errors, but going to work for Commie News may be the biggest.
John McCain as President will help the Republicans find themselves again.

Give it a rest boys. You ran what, two zillion Ralph bashing articles in the AJC when he was running for Lieutenant Governor and you have shown precious little interest in the office since.
OK, I get it, the AJC hates Ralph Reed because of the role he played in turning the state Republican.
I assume CNN hired him because he helps them compete with Fox by adding a conservative perspective. If the AJC would follow suit and hire some conservative voices they might not be losing subscribers in record numbers.

It’s probably very hard to provide a decent newspaper to a state with the highest high school dropout rate in the nation.
You morons get your “news” from Fox and hate radio - it’s easier than having to learn how to read for you morons.
Trash.
