Resolving that others will do better in 2008
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The end is near for 2007.
The approach of the New Year is traditionally a time for reflection. Most folks look forward to a fresh start, a second chance to keep all those New Year’s resolutions they failed to keep in 2007.
But, as our friends at Tondee’s Tavern demonstrate, the New Year is also a time to take stock of all the dumb stuff other people - particularly Georgia’s political leadership - have done over the last 365 days.
Maybe this list will help get you started.
So tell us what New Year advice you have for Georgia leaders.

New Year’s advice: Try doing something so at least we’ll have something worth criticizing. And, NO I don’t consider praying for rain, bragging about a GREAT plan, moaning about fewer Raptor sales, bringing home Washington pork, allowing property taxes to skyrocket, wishing for as much pay as a lottery employee, etc., as doing something.

For the Georgia leaders: keep Conservative values in mind when making your decisions. The fiscal dividends will keep Georgia out of the red. Privatizing Grady is a good example - get government out of the picture.
For you Liberal AJC readers: get your head out of the sand. Islamic extremists want to subjugate you and your family. If they cannot succeed, they want you dead. It’s as simple as that. Until you understand this simple fact you will never understand why our President has made the tough decisions - all to defend the Republic (yes, it’s not a Democracy).

Well, we liberals are concerned about the Islamic Extremists that want to subjugate us.
But we’re just as worried about the REAL American Taliban that want to subjugate us and our families.
People who say this is a Republic and Not a Democracy mean that some people are more fit to rule than others. Its their code. You’re right. People with Empathy should be in charge. People who are sociopaths (ie the Real American Taliban) should not.
(Oh, and in case you haven’t figured it out yet, the President made the tough decision to go to war because someone tried to kill his daddy.)
