Hola, boss. That’s it, you’re outta here!

Rep. Tom Price, a Roswell Republican, introduced legislation Wednesday that could generate pink slips for employees across the country who don’t speak English.

Price’s “Common Sense English Act” would amend the Civil Rights Act to allow employers to require workers to speak English while on the job.

Price said that a bill that’s likely to find an appreciative audience in Georgia, where immigration legislation ignited a firestorm earlier this year, is necessary to “productivity and success in America.”

“English is the language that unites our society and keeps our economy,” Price said in a statement. “Denying employers the right to promote our national language in the workplace only encourages division and creates troublesome misunderstandings.”

Yet another example of ignorance and bigotry. This country was founded on freedom and legislating a ban on a language or any other form of expression is definetly heading in the wrong direction. Politicians, stop wasting our time and yours with meaningless legislation whose only intent is to rouse peoples anger and insecurities. Create laws that make sense, laws that will create and enforce reasonable and practical requirements for immigrants to learn the language and contribute to society. Stop trying to divide us by pandering to our base fears and show us real leadership by guiding us in the path to a united country that has reasonable laws that tackle the real issues and benefit us all.

I do believe that if you work here…you need to know the language. Hands down… BUT… I think we as Americans are absolutely lazy when it comes to learning other languages… Let’s be a little more proactive ourselves and learn Spanish…shall we? English ‘is’ our unity…. and we need to definately stop bowing to every other culture who are transplants in our wonderful USA….
If a person who speaks a different languange is ‘willing able & present to work’… consider that a positive… learning our languange and speaking it on the job is a gtiven…. But on the ‘other hand’…. expand your world a bit and learn their language…stop being a stick in the mud. You may learn something. :::wink wink::::::

WHEN SOMETHING IS ORIGINAL IT SHOULD NOT BE TAMPERED WITH. ENGLISH HAS BEEN AND SHOULD ALWAYS THE LANGUAGE OF THE UNITED STATES. WHY TAMPER WITH SOMETHING THAT HAS ALWAYS WORKED AND SHOULD BE KEPT INTACT. THIS NOT ONLY GOES FOR THE UNITED STATES BUT ALL COUNTRIES.

Reasonable citizen you are wrong: This country was founded on freedom, that does not mean freedom to do whatever you want. When you came to America you were to be American, you can still worship and speak your home language, but must learn to speak English and be American. This has to do with a country not being united and the eventual fall of a great nation due to ignorance like yours. This is AWESOME!!!

Agreed, Americans are terribly lazy about learning other languages. However, we pay the price for it when dealing with people in other countries. (Although, as more and more people worldwide learn English, some would argue how much of a price we actually pay.)

These are businesses. I am sure that there are businesses that benefit due to their employees speaking Spanish, or any other language, and I am sure that the employer appreciates this. On the same note, there are businesses that suffer due to the fact that their employees can not speak English to the customers. The businesses should have every right to get rid of those employees if it hurts business…in the same way that they should be able to get rid of someone who is slow at his job, has body odor, or otherwise offends a customer.

Business is a competition to make the customer happy. If I have to talk to 2 or 3 people before I find someone who understands me, and who I understand, then I’m taking my business elsewhere. I don’t care if they’re speaking Spanish, or heavily accented British, New York or Boston accents.

Reasonalbe Citizen - ignorance and bigotry is just an excuse as that is all the left can say - it is ignorance and bigotry to disobey our laws and not speak our language and expect us to bend over backwards for someone who is or wants to come here. Obey the laws, there are enough of them and we need to enforce them. it is not much to ask anyone to speak our language. Stand up and defend OUR country and stop pandering to those that disobey and ignore our laws.

English should be required. How many Irish still speak Erse and fly the Irish flag? How many Germans speak German and fly the German flag? How many Italians still speak Italian and fly the Italian flag? How many English fly the English flag?

As a teacher and proud veteran still serving, I love the American Legion’s motto: “One country, one language, one flag.” So let’s get all the losers who come from other countries and continue to speak that foreign language and fly that foreign flag out of here.

If their homeland were that great, why did they leave? Wake up to reality.

Reasonable-GET OUT OF MY ENGLISH speaking country! English is needed so that everyone can understand what is going on in emergencies. This is not the UN! If you cannot speak the language-don’t go there! Do you expect the FRENCH to speak english IN France? NO! Besides-don’t you have to speak English to pass the Green card test? Speak and write English! You want to speak Spanish?- Go to Mexico or South America. I am surprised that the muslim countries don’t execute people for not speaking Muslim or Allahese. Good Job Tom Price-English ONLY! Maybe the illegals will go home now.

Seems unconstitutional, unnecessary, and ultimately unproductive. But all of you racists just go ahead and proclaim this guy a hero.

Imagine two (legal) immigrants from Latin America, standing next to each other, stocking grocery store shelves, a scene I see often when I go into a Publix. Is it really necessary to require them to speak English to each other or be fired? It would seem that allowing them to speak to each other in their native tongue (just like an American co-worker and I spoke to each other in English when we were doing some contract IT work in Spain a few years ago) would be way more productive, and that’s the supposed reason for this travesty of a bill, to enhance “productivity.”

Really, why not just rename the bill “Mexicans Go Home Act”? The virulent hatred of some people in this state is just appalling. And before you guys start screaming “liberal”, I vote Republican, so don’t bother.

Reasonable - You are absolutely right! Yes I agree that if you wish to live in the USA then you should make an attempt to speak the English language. However, you should not be banned from speaking your native language anywhere in our society. I would think that bill would be unconstitutional? Is the US not the land of the free anymore? Have we become so ignorant and fearful of anyone and anything that is not like us that we would began to legislate away the very things that made America what she is? Obviously many of you posters have not taken a history class in a while. The people who founded America spoke other languages besides English. Do the Pennsylvania Dutch ring any bells? Furthermore as new waves of immigrants came to the US they did speak their old languages here. The Irish, Italians, Japanese, and others all spoke and still do speak their native language. It’s just popular now to jump all over Spanish speakers because ignorant people believe anyone who speaks Spanish must be illegal, which is of course not true. As far as the “language uniting the country” oh please, whatever. Love of country unites America not a language. I know people who can’t speak a whole lot of English, but they love the country that they have become a citizen of. And I know people who speak what they consider to be English that bring new definition to the the word unpatriotic. This legislation will not unite America it will only further divide it between those who understand and honor the essence of the constitution and those who’s narrow and fearful view of the world keeps them from understanding that freedom means freedom for everyone, not freedom for only people like yourself.

This law doesn’t require immigrants to speak English, so what freedom of theirs is being violated? It is granting the employers to fire as they see fit. They should have the freedom to do so, and they don’t now.

I do agree that the Republicans are rushing to out-hate each other in reference to immigrants. These dummies helped create the problem, now they want to get elected on the basis of how much posturing they can do. If politicians want to solve the problem, they’ll work to enforce the law against employing illegal immigrants. By proposing crap like this English-only bill, they can look tough while not upsetting businesses that rely on illegal labor. And they’ll get the republisheep to follow. Baaa!

This comes to show how ignorant our goverment is. Yes, I do agree English is necessary but what is the point of firing someone that speaks another language. You are punishing people that know more than one language trying to pass racist and anti-inmigrant laws. First it goes against Freedom of Speech. Second, it punishes people that make an effort to learn more than one language. Since when is speaking more than one language a bad thing? I thought the more skilled someone was, the better for society they were.

I’m surprised to say this, but I agree with Tom Price. This is AMERICA and we speak English here. I am furious when I see billboards and business marquees in Spanish, even without any English on the sign anywhere! This should not be. The primary language—biggest and first—should be English. IF the SPanish or other language must be there, it must be smaller and second—NOT the dominant identifier! We are losing this country.

Uhh, exactly what problem does this solve? I mean, if you own a business, you control the hiring. If speaking English is a requirement for the tasks of the job (and it usually is), and you go on to hire someone who can’t speak it, then you’re a bad manager/business owner. Do we need the federal government to tell businesses how to obtain and retain needed employees?

To all of you who think this is a dumb law, you better be bilingual!! I think English should be a requirement, and he gets my vote!

td-to answer your stupid question, if your legal (yeah right)immigrants are stocking grocery store shelves, I don’t think ANYONE CARES if they talk to each other in spanish. HOWEVER, when i ask them what aisle something is on and they can’t tell me because they don’t speak english, are they able to perform their job requirements?? Didn’t think so, so shut up. Resonable Citizen-you think this 1 language law is trying to divide us? What a moron! It’s trying to unite us so we can communicate effectively together. How can a team get a job done on any job if they can;t communicate with each other? ‘Create laws that make sense,’ Buddy, this one makes perfect sense, so put the reefer down and listen to yourself.

To the City of Atlanta: I don’t know about you, but i don’t care if people who speak another language use it amongst themselves! If they want to work on a job with a team, however, they need to use the same generally understod lanuage in the United States-and that’s English, Jack.

For all the morons who don’t support this and think we’re being ‘unfair’, i want you to dry your Kanye West cryin eyes and listen real good. Do you idiots know that the USA is almost the last non-third world country that doesn’t have a language law? Yeah, all the other countries would make us speak their language to immigrate, we’re not being any different. France’s official, on the books, language is French. If you go there complaining about it, they’ll send you home. That’s what we should do. If people want to immigrate to the US so badly, they can make the sacrifice to learn English.

This is a free market problem, all true republicans want government out of business, Tom Price must have missed that class. The reason there is a “press 2 for spanish” option is because that is a huge market for businesses. You think businesses won’t take money from spanish -speaking only customers? So they need to be serviced by spanish-speaking reps.

All of you spouting off about everyone who comes here should learn English have probably never lived in another country or speak any other language but English. And many Americans, especially Georgians, speak horrible English. You butcher the grammer and spelling all the time on these blogs. I can only assume you do the same when speaking (grammar that is).

I lived in Puerto Rico for three years. I worked my a* off to learn Spanish. It’s not as easy as you might think for an adult. Children learn very fast, but it’s harder when you’re working and busy to learn as quickly. I learned enough Spanish to get around, but I was never completely fluent. I still work on it today, because I see the benefit of having a second language.

I know people from other countries that speak three or four languages. And many of them speak better English than native born Americans.

So, until you try, as an adult, to learn another language, get off your high horses and shut the f… up.

Can we also make the U.S. citizens which were born here learn English? There are too many “native speakers” that do not speak or write English in a way which could be understood. I pratically need a translator to speak with anyone from the “hood” or South Georgia. I agree that if 2 people speak another language amongst themselves, they should not be fired. What did our mothers teach us about listening to other people’s conversations? On the other hand, if the employee has to communicate with the customer he/she needs to speak and understand English. Also, if a company wants to reach out and try to make a few extra bucks by expanding their services/products to non-English speakers, that’s fine with me. What is more American than capitalism?

Why is it bigotry?

My family emigrated from Italy in the early 1900’s. Sure they lived in the Italian neighborhood in Chicago and New York. Sure they spoke Italian inside the home. However, they came to the United States of America to become Americans.

Does anyone know how they became Americans? They spoke ENGLISH OUTSIDE the home. They wanted to be a part of the community so my grandparents made sure the children spoke English when my parents, aunts, and uncles were at work, shopping, or enjoying family time together.

Can someone show me members of the Spanish speaking community that are doing that today? Anyone? Buehler? Buehler?

Right on! Any employer, especially those who also own their companies, should be legally allowed to require English only to be spoken on the job! It is absolutely stupid to mandate that any language can be used by an employee while working at the business of another owner! It is time for you socialists who repeatedly try to destroy the US and our freedoms guaranteed by the Constitution to get the hell out of the US, or, become true US citizens and honor the Constitution! A private business owner should be able to hire and fire anyone as he wants, ban unions from his business, and, do what ever he wants with his own private property, his business! A home owner or developer must be allowed to sell to anyone he wants or not to sell to anyone he does not want! PRIVATE PERSONAL PROPERTY RIGHTS ARE THE BASIS OF THE USA!

J is absolutely right on this one.

Why do we need an act that “allows employers to require workers to speak English while on the job” when it’s almost certainly those employers who are doing the hiring and who are responsible for defining the requirements of the job?

I can’t imagine that there are too many business owners knocking on Tom Price’s door asking for help in getting rid of their high productivity/low cost non-native employees. Seems like grandstanding to me.

When in Rome, do as the Romans. When people come into this country they then should assimilate. In sociology, the one most important part of a successful society is assimilation. The english language is a large part of what makes us American, it is what brings us together. Older immigrants that came to this country 20, 30 years ago realize this and most older immigrants have successfuly learned English. With an overload of Spanish language options for people to choose, they have lost their motivation to learn the English language and therefore, will never be truly accepted as part of American society. If I moved to Germany, I would be expected to learn Germany. Spanish immigrants should not be regarded any differently in my opinion.

I would just like to point out a few things people have seem to forgotten about our country and our state. Firstly, while English is the most common language in the US, the US had no official language. Just like the US is mostly Christian, it is not our ‘official’ religion. Secondly, Georgia is not a Right-to-work state. Last time i check an employer was well with in their right to fire anyone without a reason or notice unless there is an employment contract that states otherwise. So stop getting you panties in a bunch over nothing, and concentrate on more important things, like our troops overseas, children without health care, or our beloved state running outta water, and the million of people eho would potentially be affected.

Umm…under existing EEOC regs, employers are responsible for their employees speech on the job. Think: sexual and national origin harassment regulations.

Employers are expected to monitor employees speech by the same lefties who wail about the proposal that English be an allowed requirement for employment…in America! ( the horror!)

How can the employer prevent the next category of forbidden speech if he can’t understand that speech?

I know, we should hire translators to do the censoring…right?

I can’t be sure, but I am pretty sure I hear the black market labor in my local stores whispering ” stupid Americans” when we walk in… ” we would never allow our language to be optional in our own country!”

Tom Price is to be admired not only for his idea, but for exposing the mindless far left mouth breathers here, many of whom depend on the bilingualism that illegal immigration produces for their income.

Here is what a credible pastor taught in one of his sermons over twenty years ago.

“There is a time and place for everything under the sun…we will not surrender our children to Ebonics in The United States of America or a promised land of our own. We will learn to speak English to the best of our ability; and whenever appropriate speak Ebonics exclusively among and to each other”.

A “Common Sense English Act” should have been amended to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to allow employers to require workers to speak English while on the job.

I don’t know of any African Americans that would have contested it; and that was an era built on protest.

If we’re going to require that people living here speak English, we have an obligation to provide extremely low-cost or free English Language education for all. I am so sick of xenophobes - don’t those people realize America as we know it was founded by immigrants? Shoot, even the Native Americans were immigrants at one time!

I like to occassionally speak SPanish with the ones that I know would understand what I said if I had said it in English. But I refuse to speak Spanish to people who don’t even go by their real names, make no effort to learn the language that everyone else in their workplace uses, and to whom my tax dollars are going for them and their kids to live here. Not trying to be terribly mean because some of them are great people, but English is what we speak in our workplace, so everyone should who works there.

Sound good, everything should be in English. I would suggest then that Dr. Price start by having all Latin terms removed from medical practice terminology, then the legal practice, followed by excising the Latin from the official UGA seal and replacing it with English.

“In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man’s becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile…We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language…and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”

Also, more than likely non english speakers will not be fired. It relates to speaking to customers and the ability to answer a customer. I agree we need to control immigration. I say anyone can come here but you have to follow certain requirements before you can work here. One - do it legally!!! and two, learn our language. I dont think is it necessary to have an amendment giving employers the option to fire employees over it, but it would be respectful of the nation you are desiring to become a part of. Our national language is English, you should learn it or go home. Requiring it for employment is a little extreme. I work in the landscape industry and unfortunately it is the Americans who have become lazy. We cant seem to find an American that is willing to actually work for his money but the Hispanics will work their tails off. But of course we have an English speaking supervisor on every crew to ensure our clients can communicate with them.

It is kind of interesting this opposition to English. No one can define an American (U.S. Citizen) as being of one particular origin; simply because, America always has been a nation made up of every imaginable ethnicity found in the world. Put an American of Asian descent back into an Asian country and no one would think to call that person an American…. until they spoke U.S. English.

U.S. English is the one common denominator, an identifier, used the world over that clearly stands out in the mind’s of others that declares U.S. Citizens, as Americans.

So is that bigotry?

When U. S. citizens seem defensive of U. S. English, is that bigotry or simply a U.S. Citizen defending their national identity?

With the people of the United States being of so many different ancestries from around the world, only the common language of U. S. English unifies America as a nation. So it is of little wonder that any attempts to move this nation away from its’ sole the empowering anchorage of U.S. English will always be seen as an affront to establish a foreign hegemony.

There are two ways to defeat this country without ever having to fire a shot. One is access to the ballot box by a population that has never truly assimilated; the other is to replace or diminish the language of this country, U.S. English.

I recently visited a Cracker Barrel Old Country Store for lunch. Part of my food was not at all satisfactory. When I sent the food back and got more of the same I asked why. I was told by the waitress that the “cook” couldn’t understand English, so they were having a hard time making him understand how to prepare the food. I later was advised by the home office that they were proud of their employees and stood behind them in their work. The cook was apparently an illegal alien. And, that business should be put out of business!

We do have foreign language education but try getting kids to actually be interested. There’s very little opportunity to practice it. Unlike in Europe, you don’t run into foreign-speaking people on a daily basis; most everyone in the U.S. is a native English speaker. I think it’s important to have an official language (I have heard we do not currently have an official language in the U.S.) but I still don’t see that much wrong with folks speaking other languages as long as it doesn’t interfere with their job, like those who do construction or landscaping. But I also think an employer has a right to set their own rules and if they want to require their employees to speak English on the job, it’s their prerogative. I don’t think my old granny from Poland ever learned much English; she was a traditional wife and rarely left the house. Many dry cleaner employees speak very poor English and even some in neighborhood family-run Chinese restaurants; just try asking a detailed question about a dish. So, I do think an individual employer has a right to require it, and I think English should be official in the U.S., but I don’t think we ought to legislate that we hear nothing but English ever being spoken in this country. It’s part of our rich cultural heritage.

Freedom works both ways. To me it seems clearly a violation of the First Amendment. That is also why there is no ‘Offical’ language of the United States. Our national motto is in Latin, I have no problem with immigrants of any flavor speaking their native language. Yes, even in the workplace. I do think people should try and learn English and use that when interacting with English speakers, but do I care what language people use when dealing with each other, no. Do I think the government has the right to mandate that, most certainly not. I would much rather put up with the downsides of a large influx of non-English speaking immigrants (legal or otherwise) than let the government ever dictate what I can say or how I can say it.

I am an American citizen living and working in an Arabic speaking Muslim country (French is the second language). My teammates are from Europe and South America. Upon arrival in this country, my Brazilian colleague Maria spoke Spanish, French, Italian, and English. Olga grew up speaking German, French, Italian and English. The list goes on. Since I’m from a monolingual country, I had to catch up and learn French. We’re all learning Arabic together. It’s been 2 years and we’re just beginning to feel confident enough to speak Arabic in professional meetings. It takes approximately 5 years to become fluent in a language and that’s if you’re proficient in language learning. Many aren’t. I’m grateful that my Arabic-speaking colleagues/friends are so gracious when speaking with me. Many are learning English so we can meet in the middle. I’m glad they don’t want to fire me because I don’t speak “their official language” yet. Yes, it’s a good idea to learn a new language, but it’s not an easy process.

By the way, any local resident in my adopted country who works in areas frequented by non-Arabic speakers usually speaks at least 3 other languages (German, Italian, English) to facilitate communication.

I disagree with the statement that Americans don’t require service personnel in other countries to speak English. I’ve travelled all over the world and you’d be surprised at the number of Americans in restaurants who demand a menu in English or get upset when there’s no one available who speaks English.

Just a reminder but if I remember correctly, Africa had 180 dialects spoken there. It never reached the level of greatness it should have reached because there was no universal language spoken everywhere. One of the reasons a rebellion was never really organized by the slaves was the fact that they could not talk to each other. My point is this, English is the official language of this state. If you are working in the workplace, dealing with people who speak English, you need to speak English. I remember Florida did not pass laws to govern language back in the 70’s and the state ended up having to spend millions of dollars on double printing everything in two or more languages. As an American, it is not my duty to learn a language from another country since I happen to live here. If I decide to move to another country, I am certain that I would learn their language…I have no right to go someplace else and demand that they speak English to me. Think about it…do you have the money, the time, or enough concern to be required to speak and read another language? It is nice to know another language, but since I don’t plan on moving to another country, I am not going to even try and you know what? Sometimes we have to stop trying to be so politically correct and just say the truth: If you are going to stay here you need to learn how to live here or remain isolated.

as always, Georgia is on the losing side pushed by these ignorant bigotted legislators. Speaking Spanish will be a must if you want business to prosper. Little by little, the U.S. will become a multicultural nation, look at the Southwest as the future to come. Spanish was the original (and only) language of New Mexico, Artizona, California, etc. History is just balancing what existed before the U.S. illegally grabbed those territories. Spanish speakers are slowly, but firmly, reclaiming what is ours. The Spanish were also the first Europeans to come to Georgia (Hernando de Soto et.al.), so this is also manifest destiny for this land full of ignorance and rednecks.

I totally agree with law/rule. If you go to another country, wouldn’t you want to learn there language so you can understand what is going on? If you go to China, they are going to mostly be speaking chinese, if you go to Spain they will be speaking spanish right? Why should it be any different if you come to America. Why would we have to change because more spanish speaking people are coming here illegally? We shouldn’t. My family came here as Polish immigrants but we learned the language, laws and everything else. We still speak Polish amongst our family and still keep our culture. English is the spoken language here and if you are going to come here legally or illegally and work you should be able to speak it so that when American’s come to you for your services they can understand you. I don’t know how many times I have either had to hang up the phone or leave the store because I couldn’t understand the person. That’s not right. You don’t go to Japan and expect them to know your language, that would be rediculous. There is no reason we should have our language because more spanish immigrants are coming here-they are the ones that want to be here-they need to addapt or go home in my opinion. You have my vote!

Bottom line is the U.S. is essentially monolingusitic, and English should be proclaimed the official language. Check out the Declaration of Independence mate. Every time I hear some ignorant redneck spout of with “if you don’t like it leave” I just want to cringe. That’s what our forefathers were told before they left their home countries to come here “the land of the free.” In my opinion those who would spout out such ignorant, hateful, un-American words should have their citizenship revoked because they have truly lost sight of what it means to live in this country and call themselves an American. America was founded on the minority not the majority and if you wish to live in a place of intolerance and complete assimilation then maybe you should relocate yourself to one of those countries where individual freedoms and individual rights are frowned upon. Telling people if they don’t like it leave… I’m an American born and raised and I have every right to disagree with you and not like what you have to say and I don’t need to go anywhere because my Constitution and my Bill of Rights grants me the rights to no only disagree with you but to assemble with like minded people and voice our displeasure in English or any other language for that matter. Cong. Price is dead on with this proposal. A common language is essential in the workplace not just for productivity and practicality, but for safety considerations.

Suppose the foreman on a landscaping crew says something like, “Step back, there is a copperhead beside your foot.” There is a hazard in multi language work crews.

It might be a construction job where a framer is cautioned to avoid the freshly poured concrete. Possibly a dangerous situation, certainly an expensive one if the concrete is ruined and must be replaced.

When warnings cannot be understood, the worker endangers himself and everyone around him. When directions and instructions must be delivered via hand signals, time is lost and comprehension suffers.

Lack of verbal communication and inability to read blueprints make job advancement virtually impossible. Employers should be able to stipulate English skills as a requirement for all job applicants.

Legal Immigrant wrote at 1:29 PM “First of all, There is a BIG difference between Illegal immigrants and Legal immigrants.”

Thanks for pointing that out, Legal Immigrant. However, according to Webster’s there can be no such thing as an Illegal Immigrant because an immigrant is one who moves from his home to another region or country with the intent of assimilating into that culture, in effect, becoming a citizen of that country. Illegals come only for the money they can send home (except for the Terrorists who are here disguised as illegals for their own nefarious purposes.) Because they have entered the U.S. from another country, the illegals must correctly be described as Illegal Aliens

I guess that would make the term “Legal Immigrant” redundant. The fact that you recognized America as the place you wanted to live and followed the law to come here has earned you a level of respect in my Right-wing, conservative, redneck eyes. Welcome, my friend.
