DEL.ICIO.USAhnold says he can party with Sonny, but not Newt

Gov. Sonny Perdue’s term as chairman of the Republican Governors Association ends next week when the organization meets in California.
On the West Coast, Perdue’s departure is making little news. Instead, California newspapers are focusing on the fact that their own governor, Arnold Schwartzenegger, will skip the meeting’s main event — a talk on “government transformation” by Newt Gingrich.
Instead, Schwarzenegger will attend a closed door dinner with Perdue and other governors the night before, at the Orange County resort where the event is being held.

No one would call Schwarzenegger and Gingrich buddies, and the politics they practiced in office would place them far apart on the GOP spectrum.
Schwarzenegger, a practitioner of what he calls “post-partisanship,” has cut deals with Democratic legislators to curb global warming, provide low-cost prescription drugs and boost the minimum wage.
Lately, he’s warned that Republicans could be trounced on Election Day if they don’t capture the political center and take up issues like global warming and health-care reform.

Perdue’s departure as Chair of the Republican Governor’s Association is not only getting little attention in the west, it is being privately received as good news among those who are increasingly concerned about a nationwide Republican slaughter next year. The lack of investigation of his land and customized tax deals have been stalled because of the potential embarassment it could cause the Republican Party during his chairmanship. Let’s see what happens now.
Perdue personifies everything the Republican Party will be running from next year…ineptness, corruption, disregard of his State Constitutional duties and obligations, to name a few.
