Presidential notes: Hillary vs. Giuliani, and National Right to Life embraces Fred Thompson
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
A WAGA-TV (Fox 5)/Rasmussen poll of 500 Georgia voters posted last night shows that Democrat Hillary Clinton could give Republicans Rudy Giuliani or Fred Thompson a run for their money in a general election contest.
And Democrat Barack Obama would be less successful.
Below are the pairing. Margin of error is plus-or-minus 4.5 percent:
— Giuliani, 48 percent; Clinton, 44 percent;
— Thompson, 47 percent; Clinton 44 percent;
— Giuliani, 51 percent; Obama, 37 percent;
— Thompson, 48 percent; Obama, 39 percent.
(On a non-presidential note, though they don’t blame Gov. Sonny Perdue, 63 percent of those polled said Georgia was “not very prepared” or “not at all prepared” for the current drought. Count that as one reason for this afternoon’s pray-for-rain service.)
In other presidential news, the political action committee of the National Right to Life Committee has endorsed Republican Fred Thompson for president — dismissing his opposition to a constitutional ban on abortion, and his fuzzy comments on the Terry Schiavo case. Keep in mind there’s a split between the national organization and its Georgia chapter. You can read the entire NRLC endorsement here, but below are two interesting sections:
“While Fred supports the long-term objective of the Human Life Amendment, the votes are simply not there in Congress, nor were they there when we controlled both houses of Congress. For instance, in the Senate, we are presently at least 25 votes short, with psssage in the House even more difficult.
“Fred intends to focus his presidency on those things that can be achieved, or advanced, in the next four to eight years.”
And there’s this:
“With regard to end-of-life matters, he believes that families should make these decisions for their loved ones.
“In cases where there is division over effective life-sustaining treatment, he hopes the benefit of the doubt is given to life.”

One problem with Hillary: she’s so polarizing, that I no longer trust the Right to act in America’s best interests. The lunatic fringe, comprising the vestiges of Bush’s Base, are in positions where they could easily sabotage the elections. Once Trust evaporates, then praying for rain seems like wishful thinking. Diebold manufactures the doomsday clock, you know.
Hopefull, Hillary peaked early, and as she fades, the uberpundits torturing the round-tables will stfu. Hillary claims she can stand the heat, and likes the kitchen. Well thank you, Rachel Ray. How about an Iraq War plan, Hillary? How about the tax and spend problems? How about Healthcare? You learned your lesson? What does that mean?
Explain yourself, young lady.

It was funny watching Hillary squirm when she was asked a question (illegals getting licenses in NY) she couldn’t answer. It’s about time she answered questions not screened by her handlers. I can’t WAIT until she is put into a debate format! Maybe then ‘Hillary the Hun’ will show the world what insiders have talked about for years - a woman with anger issues - someone who doesn’t need to be in charge of the greatest country on earth.

I’m going to laugh my a$$ off next November when all you cretins have to deal with a woman in the White House.
You can break out all your “It’s all Clinton’s fault!” arguments as we re-enter a time of peace and prosperity.
What a bunch of moronic fools you keyboard toughguys are…

Yes, these are the same “right to life” folks that don’t have a problem dropping 2000 lb. bombs on neighborhoods full of innocent women and children thousands of miles away in a country that never harmed or threatened to harm us.
I guess right to life only applies if you are unborn. Moral relativism is a great thing isn’t it???
Heaven forbid they support a great statesman like Ron Paul who has delivered 4000 babies, takes the same stand on abortion, and knows the difference between agressive pointless war and one that is in the best interest of americans.
