Obama up and running in Georgia; Clinton getting organized

The Barack Obama campaign promises a big crowd of supporters at 6:30 p.m. Thursday when it opens its Georgia headquarters. Several state lawmakers threaten to attend.

Obama’s is the first presidential campaign — Democrat or Republican — to set up shop here.

The location is 370 Northside Drive in Atlanta, just down the street from Paschal’s Restaurant, where U.S. Rep. John Lewis endorsed Obama’s chief Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton.

Obama is further along with his ground game in Georgia. But the Clinton campaign is advertising a campaign training session for Georgia volunteers on Saturday, Nov. 10.

Obama is going to set this country str8 when he gets the White House.

That is a fact, y’all!!

I hate to argue with someone so savvy that they believe “str8” is a word…but, Obama is not going to make it past February…not a moment, not a second past super Tuesday! And Hillary is not going to pick him as VP. Don’t get me wrong, I wish he could win – he would be much easier to beat in November than Hillary. But, it just isn’t going to happen….

Obama is poised to win Iowa, then New Hampshire and SC, followed by the Dem Nomination.

Obama is the real deal. He proved Hillary is simply a master of double speak and confusion.

Hillary will win the Democrat nomination. Obama and Edwards are there to make her look like she had to overcome something to become the nominee. After last night Clinton Inc. is going to take out Edwards, and Obama needs to be careful if he wants the Veep spot. This general election will be about Hillary and she is going to fail. Her negatives are too high for a general election victory. I am afraid that you libs are in for a heart breaker. But you can always say the election was stolen and dine out on that for another four years.

Obama will win a primary alright, his own. Illinois will be the only state he’ll carry. He won’t even place close to the top two in Iowa.

Churchill, you seem to forget the negatives of the Republican candidates. Hillary even does well against Saint Guiliani, and that’s before HIS negatives are displayed to the country. Hillary would do worse than Edwards, but even then, she would win.

Matt, you are falling for the media spin. By the way his negatives are out there. The media is constanlty saying Guliani is not conservative enough. They were reporting months ago that McCain would be the front runner and they were wrong. The conventional reasoning on Rudy is wrong too. Hillary will turn out republicans like we have never ever seen. It is going to be a Anybody but Hillary thing.

First of all, I’m proud to be in this free NATION and share life of Democracy. I’m also; glad to be a part of Democratic Parties supporters. Now, seven (7) years go, when I came to this free nation from Darkness or gloomy, hopeless and miserable of East Africa Ethiopia’s Government So now, I’m here and I’m American. In and out of my local government I support Democratic Party and I will continue to be a part of your party Dr. Obama.

Dr. Barack Obama has his own powerful of experiences and extremely enough of knowledge of Human Right and full of energy to bring American’s Nation together and contribute his ideas of Democratic to other nation such as my Birthplace Country who is a way behind from Human Right.

I actually agree with you on one point, Churchill. Hillary is hated by the Republicans, but they have no love for Guliani, either. Whatever effect Hillary would have on Republican turnout would be greatly mitigated by the antipathy conservatives feel toward Guiliani (or McCain for that matter).

And the average Joes, the ones who don’t pay attention until a month before the election or later, probably know Guiliani more for his actions around 9/11 than anything else and probably don’t know much about his policy statements aimed to placate conservatives.

Matt, you are stuck on this flawed conventional wisdom. I am a values voter. I talk to others who are values voters. Rudy may not be 100% socially conservative, but he will be a heck of a lot better than Hillary, and we know it. Those of us who are following things now are the values voters and Rudy’s numbers are just fine. Republicans are pragmatists. We look at the big picture. I don’t think that you have any idea of the level of distrust that most Republicans and a good number of independents have for anybody named Clinton. But I will watch with much glee when you guys nominate another North East Liberal, and then wonder why you lost the election. You will decide, by the way, that the election was stolen and the whole 2000 thing will be reenacted.

“And Hillary is not going to pick him as VP.” “…Obama needs to be careful if he wants the Veep spot.” OH NO! These are funny things. The VP’s role is a traditionally weak one. Really more of a symbolic position than one of real power. It cracks me up that all of you think Barack Obama wants to be a Vice President! You all know that he’s running for PRESIDENT of the U.S.A., right?

Daddy, I wanna be a Vice President when I grow up!

I want to elect someone that is competent. Hillary Clinton has been a lousy senator. She has not acheived any major successes for the American people as senator.

She has however managed to help send our troops to Iraq. She has the blood of our troops on her hands.

Hillary Clinton has also managed to get rich from filling her pockets with the money of special interest groups and lobbyists.

Plus, how can she run this country if she can not teach her husband how to keep his zipper up?

By Churchill

Obama says he running for president, but he sure did not act like it last night at the big debate. He kinda went after her, but not really. The media is spinning it to look like all those mean men were ganging up Hillary. Whatever. Why didn’t Obama ask her “what do you have to hide?” (re: sealed documents at the Clinton Library and Massage Parlor). I don’t think Obama has a pair big enough to rival Hillary’s.

Obama has been consistent with his message from the start, Edward may have been the prosecutor but Obama showed not only which fence Clinton hedges on but how he will be different in each circumstance. Its important to differ and keep your cool.

Clinton was misled by Bush to vote for the Iraq war, and she is being misled again to vote for Iran resolution. She has been misled about torture and social security. I bet all the people in her crowd including Bill (I did not inhale/have S@* with that woman) they ALL mislead her

So its not her fault that she cant lead America.

We know who to blame when Obama gets the nomination

Some of you guys crack me up. Hillary a Northeast Liberal. Hillary is from Arkansas with her start in Illinois. She just happens to live in New York. Hillary is no liberal, that’s why those of us who are, want someone else. You guys keep using liberal as an all inclusive for the Democrats. Well, there are plenty of Democrats that aren’t liberal (unless you contrast it with the fundamentalist right).
The Republican Party (mostly Karl Rove) made liberal a negative word several years ago. Well it’s not anymore.

Yea, it’s amazing how many on the right just hate the Clintons. Hillary does have high negatives. All the Republicans will do is bash, bash, bash…they won’t offer any solutions. It will be Hillary’s mean, Hillary’s not right for America, Hillary’s a b**ch, boo Hillary. We hate Hillary! C’mon guys how about actually proposing some solutions…health care, cleaning up the mess in Iraq, fixing the deficit (thanks George you really got us on that one).

Actually I kind’ve like Rudy. Pro-Choice, believe’s in equal rights for all citizens, really too liberal for most of you Republicans but you’ll nominate him anyway cause you don’t want Hillary. Well he might win but trust me, the right won’t be happy.

I don’t care that the current Mrs. G is the third, that he cheated with her on Mrs. G #2, that his kids won’t speak to him or support him. That really doesn’t matter or does it. Sure Bill C cheated and go a BJ. Rudy cheated and got more.

With 22 of 33 Republican up for reelection and of those, 4 R’s and 1 D are retiring the Dem’s will pick up some Senate seats and then you can have Joe Lieberman. They’ll also pick up some seats in the house. The WH is a tossup but I suspect as long as GWB keeps things going like he has then he’ll drag down the GOP for the top spot too.

One of the most irritating things about the rise of the extreme right wing in this country is that they call themselves “values voters.” We all vote our values. For an increasing number of Americans, though, that means more than anti gay marriage and anti abortion. It means using our resources responsibly. It means helping those who have been hurt by recent problems in the economy. It means making sure that every kid gets a decent education and a chance at the American dream. It means a lot of things.

The arrogance of self appointed “values voters” is amazing.

By Churchill

October 31, 2007 11:21 PM | Link to this

If you are addressing me, your arrogance in redefining values, is the reason we need to assert ours. The secular left in the country is in the middle of redefining our cultural values day by day, in court after court, and institution to institution. If you are offended by right wing support of traditional, American values, good. Why should we sit by and let the left change the direction of this country? If you guys had your way, you would turn this country into Western Europe. No thanks.

Have no fear people. Obama can win, Obama can perform Presedential duties, and Obama can change Washington. Don’t let the nay sayers take your belief that our country is ours and we can take it back, they are brainwashed, as I was.

In Georgia, Hillary has about 700 individual contributors and maybe 5 or so groups based on her campaign website and the FEC (http://www.fec.gov/DisclosureSearch/mapApp.do). How about we all compare and contrast both candidates websites and the FEC website. It’s not even close.

Churchill: The left’s values ARE American values. The far right’s attempt to turn America into either an empire or a “Christian nation” are what’s un-American, and that’s why they need to be stopped.

By Iron Mike

Earth to Craig.

The pilgrims fled England to escape the treachery of the crown. They wanted to be able to practice their religion and they sought freedom. The pilgrims are the original “values voters.”

Gay “marriage”, the “right” to terminate human life, and the Kyoto treaty were not on their mind. By trial and error, the pilgrims learned that collectivism did not work. You exhibit a fanatical pride in knowing the nitty details about a political race yet the largest of points escapes you.

Phrases such as “using our resources responsibly,” “helping those who have been hurt by recent problems in the economy,” and “making sure that every kid gets a decent education and a chance at the American dream” are subterfuge-like code words that mean little because they lack clarity. Liberals use these terms for class warfare and income redistribution purposes. When their programs are enacted, the economy suffers along with those who depend on the welfare state—because a strong economy finances the welfare state.

If America is a failure in all of these areas, tell me which country is successful. Which country is your model? Which one should America emulate?

Like Churchill, I believe that Western Europe doesn’t merit emulation. Even France’s Sarkozy understands this. If he understands it, then shouldn’t you?

“Code words”, Mike? You might try reading the Gospels sometime - that’s where I found them.

And yeah we sure wouldn’t want to be like Europe. They have fewer births to unwed mothers, fewer abortions, lower rates of divorce, guaranteed paid time off for new mothers to give them time to bond with their child, more vacation time, health care for everyone… nah I wouldn’t want that…. Instead, let’s set up a theocracy! That’s the ticket! Thanks, Mike, I’ve seen the light…

There is nothing wrong with it, besides the fact that you guys are always on the wrong side of history. Hillary may not as liberal as she is socialist. Republicans, why would you even want to see another Republican hold the office of the presidency ever again? Haven’t you had enough? Is it not enough that your country is in financial hock to China (of all countries), soldiers are dying in one war in Iraq, and your government is getting ready to start another war in Iran, your borders are not secure, your food is not safe, your water is fast running out, gas prices are $3.00/gallon again, heating oil will be up this winter, most of you have no health insurance even though you are working every day, and your children and grandchildren already owe thousands of dollars in taxes each (even those who’re not yet born). Haven’t you had enough of Republican rule?
