Another Democrat explores the U.S. Senate race

Vietnam vet and business executive Josh Lanier of Statesboro, a former staffer for Herman Talmadge, has announced the formation of an exploratory committee as a prelude to a run for the U.S. Senate.

Lanier put out the press release late Wednesday. He’s promising a “clean campaign,” and so is restricting donations to $100. His campaign web site, with video, can be found here.

We’re a bit pressed for time, and will have to revisit the topic later. In the meantime, click on this copy of his announcement. Enjoy.

Dang, what a blast from the genteel past. I had my first mixed drink in 1962, at age 5 at Herman and Betty’s Lovejoy Mansion after Miss Betty assigned the kids to be bartenders. Wonder if Josh was there.

I bet Randi Rhodes could drink all of you under the table.

She had a lot of booze and fell on her face the other night….she was not attacked by right wingers.

Wow. The Republicans must REALLY be in trouble if Democrats think they have a real chance even down here in Backward-Bigot-Land.

This is just great! Let’s have another no-name, no-money, no-chance at winning, Democrat get in our primary. No we can all beat each other up, spend all our money, and get crushed by a very well funded and popular incumbant U.S. Senator.

A 4th entrant makes a primary run-off all the more likely and our chances of victory that much slimmer.

We suck.

Vernon Jones has already wrapped this race up. He has 10 times the money of his nearest opponent, has an actual campaign organization, is getting out around the state, is flying his plane over the Braves games, has billboards up and is building momentum by the day!

From Vernon’s web site:

“Vernon Jones is a dedicated public servant with a strong, conservative record of accomplishments.”

Question for you liberals: Why didn’t he use the word “liberal” rather than “conservative”? Hmmmh?
