Price, a speech but what about respect

Rep. Tom Price, a Roswell Republican and former physician, was an obvious choice for House Republicans to deliver the party’s weekly radio address this weekend. (Listen here.)

After all, the topic was health insurance for kids.

And while there’s no doubt Price is an up-and-comer in the House, we have to wonder how well those GOPers really know the guy deep-down.

For instance, Price is from Georgia. But the press statement the party issued Friday to advance the speech listed him as a North Carolina Republican. Stuff just happens at the end of a busy week, we guess. Still, Price mentions in the first line of the speech where he’s from. Maybe, they didn’t read it.

In the speech, Price tries to explain why so many House Republicans voted against a popular bill that would expanded the State Children’s Health Insurance Program, known as SCHIP nationally and PeachCare in Georgia. It’s part of an on-going GOP PR campaign to blunt the election-year advantage Democrats believe they won because they can now claim Republicans are against poor kids.

FYI, what the Democratically controlled Congress is now trying to do is to pass a counterfeit amnesty bill. They will now back door everything they can attaching amendments to current legislation or expanding legislation to incorporate illegal aliens.

Now, The Children’s Health and Medicare Protection (CHAMP) Act will expand the existing State Children’s Health Insurance Program - more than doubling it in size - and “improve beneficiary protections under the Medicare, Medicaid and the [SCHIP] program.”

Illegal immigrants are about to get an unexpected boost thanks to the Democratic Congress. The Democrats have a proposal that not only raises taxes on middle class families and slashes funding for a popular Medicare program … it eliminates the requirement that persons applying for Medicaid or SCHIP service show proof of citizenship or nationality.” This expansion of a program that focused on the needs of children exposes just how perverse the Democraticaslly controlled Congress is.

Members of the Immigration Reform Caucus (IRC) blasted plans to eliminate proof-of-citizenship requirements for anyone applying for Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). IRC Chairman, Congressman Brian Bilbray (R-CA) went further by calling on members of Congress to do the right thing and fight to keep the citizenship requirements in the final SCHIP bill.

“You might has well post a ‘come one, come all’ sign on our borders if you’re going to give 12-20 million illegal immigrants access to health care benefits complements of the American taxpayers,” Bilbray said. These are benefits that most Americans don’t even qualify for. Hopefully, members of Congress will do the right thing and fight for a bill that helps middle-class Americans get access to better health care opportunities instead of making them pay for the health care costs of 12-20 million illegal immigrants.”

The citizenship requirements were originally passed in 1996 as a part of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Responsibility Act. The legislation specifically limited the distribution of federal benefits, including Medicaid coverage, to those lawfully in the United States.

“By removing the provision requiring applicants to provide proof of citizenship to receive subsidized health care benefits, Congress is in effect extending these taxpayer benefits to illegal immigrants,” said Congressman Trent Franks (R-AZ). “Not only does it drastically expand government-run health care at the expense of 3.2 million tax-paying American seniors who will be left without Medicare Advantage, but “I am afraid we are also setting our children on an unsustainable course where they will be left to face the fiscal train wreck of runaway government spending. “ Providing health care for needy children is a noble and necessary undertaking, but this drastic expansion of the SCHIP program to potentially millions of adult illegal immigrants takes the bill far beyond its intended scope.”

“The back door to amnesty seemingly grows larger with every Democrat proposal of this Congress,” Congressman Tom Price (R-GA) concluded. “The SCHIP program is intended to help America’s needy children, not redirect precious health care resources to illegal aliens. We cannot expect the flood of illegal immigrants to slow if we continually provide new incentives to break our laws.”

Congressman Ted Poe (R-TX) added, “It seems to me that our federal government is rolling out the red carpet to illegals in this country every chance they get. This is just another engraved invitation from ourgovernment for people to disregard our immigration laws. Health care in the United States is paid for by United States taxpayers and should be reserved for citizens and legal residents of our country. It is time for this Congress to put the needs of Americans before the needs of illegals.”

Congressman Scott Garrett (R-NJ) said, “In the name of helping children, Congress is about to act to saddle those very children with extraordinary debt. In an effort to buy votes for passage of a bill that is on its way to the President’s, Democrat leadership has loaded it up with a number of provisions that are bad for the taxpayers - today’s and tomorrow’s. This bill is both bad policy and bad practice.”

Rome needs the illegals in order to acheive their published (“National Pastoral Plan for Hispanic Ministry”) goal to take over the United States. The Congress, both parties, works for the false rich (fascist plutocracy). Why do you think campaigns cost so much money, yet contributions are recognized as bribes? Hillary is Winthrop Rockefeller’s illegitimate daughter-in-law: match his nose and Bill’s. The Bushes have fronted for Rockefeller for four generations. JPMChase, their family bank, is Rome’s correspondent bank AND the State Bank of IRAQ! Get it?

Dr. Price is a disgrace. Does he ever vote for the people of his district, or does he always simply march in lockstep with what his masters in the RNC tell him to do?

Craig Sir, you don’t know what you are talking about. I don’t know where you live but I’m certain it’s not in Congressman Price’s district as I am.

If anything he has been a breath of fresh air and has routinely opposed the NRC’s positions. His peers just appointed Congressman Price to the House Financial Services Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises.

He routinely holds meetings and fireside chats with his constituents and is far more in touch with the people in his district than his peers in Georgia.

Meanwhile Saxby, Isakson and most of the NRC were sucking up to Ted Kennedy, my Congressman was in step with his constituents oppossing Shamnesty.

He has been opposed to Bush’s attempt to force SPP, the North American Union and unsafe Mexican truck drivers down our throats. The Safe American Roads Act of 2007 required Mexican Trucks comply with DOT safety regulations. The Senate just added an amendment (SA2797) to HR (House) 3074 the transportation Bill that has ended all funding for the Mexican truckers pilot program.

He has been running interference with the likes of ICE and the US Justice department to get local police departments MOU’s and a new Federal Immigration Court my district.

He unlike most Congressmen is abrest of the Border Tax Equity Act (HR 2600) to counter the US job losses due to Foreign VAT’s. The implimentation would reduce our annual deficite by 46% or $350 billion dollars a year and will not cost taxpayers a dine!! Meanwhile all the other idots are talking about the “Fair” Tax to their constituents.

And his real expertise is in the medical field because he is a doctor. Recently he commentsedon the SCHIP- wrecked bill.

Rep. Tom Price (GA-06-R) issued the following statement after the House of Representatives passed H.R. 976, the Children’s Health Insurance Program Reauthorization Act of 2007. Representative Price, a physician for more than 25 years, opposed this expansion of government-run medicine.

“The legislation passed today has nothing to do with our nation’s neediest children and everything to do with political posturing,” said Price. “Rather than offering bipartisan legislation that focuses on needy kids, this proposal extends bureaucratic, taxpayer-funded health care to people who are neither poor, nor children.

“Moving forward with a significant expansion of Washington-controlled bureaucratic health care under the auspices of helping children is dishonest and exploitative. Democrats have made it clear that they will stop at nothing in their desired march toward government-run health care.

“Reauthorizing SCHIP is essential. It should be done in a manner consistent with its original bipartisan intent – to help poor children. Because today’s legislation does not accomplish this, I was forced to oppose the bill. I’m hopeful we will be able to pass positive legislation to truly take care of those in need before the end of this week.”

Congressman Price is one of 122 Republican cosponsors of H.R. 3584, the SCHIP Extension Act of 2007. The legislation funds SCHIP consistent with the March 2007 baseline for the program. This extension will ensure that every state’s SCHIP program will be fully funded in a manner that reflects the intent of the program, while giving Congress enough time to develop a true bipartisan solution.

sorry Mr. Lee, but you’re wrong. Do you think everyone in Dr. Price’s district likes him? How can a doctor vote against extending a plan that buys private health insurance for kids? How can a doctor vote to deny Terry Schiavo the right to die with dignity? How can a doctor vote against all efforts of the opposition party to provide better health care for our veterans?

I repeat what I said - he needs to work for the people of his district, instead of marching in lockstep with his masters in the White House - and your exceptions simply prove the rule…

Craig, you are a bigger fool than I thought. The only ones whom like him are the voters whom helped him win reelection. As for SCHIPS you don’t have the slightest idea what this billis all about. So tell you what you will be paying for, for the rest of your life:

The State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), the parent program of PeachCare, was created a decade ago in a truly bipartisan manner by a Republican Congress and a Democrat President. As conceived, SCHIP offers states funding to provide health insurance to children in households with annual income of up to 200% of the Federal Poverty Level.

Yet the plan passed by Congress last week offers taxpayer-funded assistance to those in households with income up to $62,000 per year or more, additionally including 21 year-old adults as children. Proponents of the legislation have made it clear that this bill is just the next step in their desired march toward government control of all health care choices. I hope you don’t work in the medical insurance company because slowly but surly the Democrats will put you out of business!!
