Waiting for Obama

We’re here in the Tom Murphy ballroom of the Georgia World Congress Center, waiting for Barack Obama. Organizers just let the crowd in three minutes ago, and already have several hundred around the main stage.

It looks like a large crowd count, multi-racial, skewing young — but with a good many geezers, too. At least 10 TV cameras. Make that 11. The Democratic presidential candidate will be here about 5:30 p.m., we’re told — although it could be much later. Getting some mixed reports about whether he’s even left Washington yet.

One thing he’s dead certain to address, in one fashion or another, is the Tuesday report out of South Carolina, in which Jesse Jackson said Obama was behaving too “white” — i.e., Jackson thought Obama’s reaction to the Jena 6 situation has been too tepid.

On Wednesday, Jackson said he didn’t remember making the statement.

It would be nice if someone were to get fed up with people like “SS” Shiver and use an automatic weapon to finally rid us of this scourge of Shiver-like boot lickin’ Nazis.

Anybody but Jesse.

(Now go ahead, pull a “Jena Op” and refuse to post this comment: too late, I already screened captured it for proof).

“One thing he’s dead certain to address”

How do you know. Did his campaign tell you so? If you write a definitive statement like this, back it up with a source. It sounds more like something you made up to hype your reporting, which is the level of dumbed-down journalism we have come to expect from the mass media. You should do better.

I sincerely regret being called a “geezer” we older people and I am 58 were the people that started this whole thing - this desire for change way back in the days of Viet Nam…what a rude term to use for us!

I think the best thing that could happen for Barack is to have Jesse Jackson endorse Hillary because she is a black woman…. :) Jesse is always taking money from the poor so he can throw press conferences. Jena 6 needs attention, but Jackson only damages worthwile fights because he jumps on every single bandwagon regardless of merit. Barack shows that he speaks up for justice when it’s been obviously hurt and yet isn’t an ambulance chaser.

None of these politicians have any balls at all. I don’t know why you think they will really make a stand on anything? American politics is a joke the world around!

Behaving too “white”? I would like to know what he meant by this. Is he implying that it is bad to behave “white” or be white? Was this a disparaging remark about European-Americans? Why doesn’t he just come out and say that Obama doesn’t have rhythm? Would he prefer that Obama wear his pants lower or used more colorful language?

Seriously, remarks like his only serve to widen the rift in our country. There are plenty of “whites” that feel this case is unfair and would like to see it righted, he shouldn’t be marginalizing them. Injustice should be a concern for ALL Americans.

This is the only post that I have written on this page. I am contacting the ajc. Making death threats is serious business, and I have every intention of making sure this does not happen again. Someone screwed-up big time.

P.S. I only use the Anybody but Hillary thing when I am discussing Hillary.

Well that was well said jim. Jesse jackson should Not have made any negative comments about someone of his own race. Especially since Obama has never shown any form of ill will towards Jesse. If they want to gain force they (as a people must stick together and not tear themselves down). To be honest this is a human rights issue not so much a race issue although the folks in that small town tend to want to focus on only race.

Where is the energy from “all” of America to attack the Jena 6 injustice that was present during the Michael Vick Case? I just don’t see “all” of America taking this case as a serious concern.

Is Obama the candidate who is a Muslim?

Is his wife still running her mouth?

I thought Muslim folks kept their women in line?

Dr. Feelgood,

Taking your own medicine a little too much I see. Pull yourself away from the bong and do some research. Obama is NOT nor has he EVER been a Muslim. He is a Christian and his personal walk with Jesus is very important to him. He treasures his wife and family and wouldn’t think of muzzling her. She’s an incredibly bright woman and will make a fabulous first lady.

A candidate who is better than Obama would be four more years of George W. Bush. He has done wonderful things for this country and will go down as the greatest president in american history. We must do whatever it takes to keep the anti-christ Hillary Clinton and her ruthless secular followers like Will Jones from getting in power.

Anybody but Hillary.

Shiver - “Secular” modifies Our Founders’ notion of the American “Order,” Justice and Truth uncolored by sectarian consideration, affiliation or bias. Annuit Coeptis, of course, suggests all Americans, true to Our Mottoes, may, if they wish, or should, attempt to have his or her own relationship with “Divine Providence:” the very reason we are the “Electorate” who ELevate those we ELect.

Those unyet free of the “real Anti-Christ” are manifestly incapable of grasping the seeming paradox presented. When you come “out of Babylon” your “eyes” will open to the American Dream.

Why is Jackson relevant to the Obama campaign?

By Churchill

September 21, 2007 7:23 PM | Link to this

One way conversations not withstanding, Obama is Hillary’s foil for entertainment purposes only. She will be on the top of the ticket, now matter what happens between now and the Convention.

As for Jackson, he is a hack of the first order.
