Elizabeth Edwards: Hillary Clinton’s health care plan ‘remarkably similar’ to her husband’s

Elizabeth Edwards, wife of the Democratic presidential candidate, breezed through Atlanta for a fund-raiser on Wednesday — and was kind enough to pick up the phone for some quick conversation.

Here’s the sound clip.

As her husband John’s chief — and often outspoken — advocate, Ms. Edwards is breaking the mold created for potential First Ladies. Her sharp comments have put her on the cover of this week’s Time magazine.

In her phone call, Ms. Edwards noted an eerie sameness between the health care proposal laid out by Hillary Clinton this week, and the one her husband trotted out this winter.

She doesn’t use the word “plagiarize.” Nor does she speak of copyright infringement. But she does say “mimic.”

And she suggests Clinton might “cave” when it comes to negotiating the details of universal health care.

“I guess you could slip a piece of paper between what Ms. Clinton and what John proposed in February, but that’s about it. It’s remarkably similar,” Ms. Edwards began.

“We’re of course glad to have her company, and to the extent that this is an endorsement of his proposal, we’re happy to have that.

“We hoped, actually, in February that it was going to push all the candidates immediately, to propose [universal coverage]. It’s taken much too long — so you have to wonder where it’s going to come on their agenda, if it comes this late in the political process,” she said.

“I think [Clinton] has said that this is a starting point for negotiations. It makes me think she’s willing to negotiate it back. John is not willing to negotiate universal health care back. That’s a bottom line for him. It’s not a starting point for negotiation,” Ms. Edwards said.

And now you know how she got that spot on Time magazine.

Two lawyers come up with a National Health Care plan. Think about it. Two lawyers.

Great strategy by Edwards! The Clinton Campaign can’t swing back at a cancer victim.

They are playing politics with the health of the American People. Shame on them both. Oh and don’t fool yourself, Mrs. Bill Clinton will strike back. There are no depths to which the Clinton’s will not sink. We have all seen this before.

Anybody But Hillary!!

I’ve never seen Ms. Rodham - might as well call her what she wants to be called AFTER she is (God Help Us) elected - shy away from any questions she’s asked. That’s because she and her handlers make sure the questions are always prescreened before she will agree to appear anywhere. If (again, God Help Us) she is elected I wonder if she’ll throw things at reporters who ask tough questions in the White House - just like she did at Bill?

It appears that’s all Mrs. Edwards is capable of doing - speaking for her husband! And if he has a health plan for the country, where is it??? Clinton, at least, has learned from experience and now made the changes needed in her plan to actually make it happen. Regardless of who the president is, we all know, it is about negotiations with the senate and house if anything is going to get done! GO CLINTON!!!!

Two lawyers design a plan? You don’t expect anyone from the overpriced overpaid health industry to design one do you?

How ‘bout this… I do not want the government in charge of health care. They will screw it up. I can buy my own. Or if, god forbid, I cannot afford it I can get Medicade. We already have National health care for those who are less fortunate.

What are they going to do to me if I opt out of the national plan?

We will never have affordable health care until we fix the problems. We need to fix the health care issue but we cannot fix it unless we know how it is broken. For the answer, please see http://www.InteliOrg.com/

I just wish the Democratic leadership would wake up and face the fact that Hillary Clinton, a reliable punchline for Republicans these fifteen years, is not and never will be an electable candidate. Joe Sixpack and his wife just plain hate her.

At least John and Elizabeth don’t have that Clinton baggage.

John Edwards is connected to Fortress Financial. This is a hedge fund that has various interest in the mortgage market. Specifically, the sub-prime market. Guess what, the company is now foreclosing on at least 34 homes in New Orleans (Birthplace of that stupid poverty tour), 64 in NY state, and over 100+ in South Carolina. John Edward stinks just as bad as Mrs. Bill Clinton.

The reason Mrs. Edwards attacked Mrs. Bill Clinton on the Move-on thing is, because Move-on is in Clinton’s pocket and not in Edwards’. Don’t believe me, look it up.
