Why, bless his heart: Romney learns about Southern manners

Ric Mayfield of Georgians for Romney sends this video link to the Republican candidate’s fund-raising luncheon in Buckhead on Wednesday.

You’ll be able to watch Mitt Romney speak and U.S. Rep. Tom Price eat, all at the same time.

The video runs eight minutes or so. Romney’s best line is about his education in Southern manners and the fact that the region’s people are “most gentle with their choice of words.”

“People in the South have a way of saying things. Like ‘I can’t stand you and I hope you rot in hell.’ That’s said by saying, ‘Bless your heart,’” Romney observed.

Yawn Same speech as was given at the Varsity with a more expensive menu. Once again, all Romney does is differentiate himself from Clinton, Obama, and Edwards — big shocker there! — without actually trying to sell to Southern Republicans why he is really a bonafide conservative who has really accomplished anything that his Democratic Massachusetts legislature didn’t have a hand in creating.

Didn’t see the sign this time, though.

Read Hugh Hewitt’s “A Mormon in the White House?” That’ll give you some insight.

Most states don’t permit a governor to implement laws by fiat which means a governor must work collaboratively with the state legislature. But the book will give you some additional information.

Not sure I’ll vote for him at present, but he’s probably the most accomplished candidate running for the office.

As a Mormon, who is also Southern (and proud of it), I wish Mitt weren’t from the North. However, I think that he might do a better job of representing true Southerners than even an actual Southern candidate. He believes in States’ Rights. If he gets elected, expect him to find ways to allow bad states to be bad and good states to be good.

Who cares if he’s Mormon, Jewish, or Baptist Taliban?

Of all the candidates on both sides, only Giuliani and Romney have the experience necessary to run the most important country in the world. However, Romney has a huge experience advantage over Giuliani because he was a success in business before moving to the government sector. While there is no one candidate who is going to 100% click with my social views, I’m pretty confident that Romney is the man who’s going to best handle the economy and most appropriately confront radical islam. Are there really more important issues?

Will Mitt choose Ron Paul for his running mate? and/or vice versa?

Likem both, what a great combo ticket it could be!

Romney and Giuliani have zero experience in national and international politics. None. In a video on YouTube, Romney demonstrated a pitiable ignorance of how Federal deficits and the Fed work.

There will be a whole new set of topics when the voting starts: the crashing economy and more interventionism, this time in Iran. There is only one candidate on either side who understands national and international economics and monetary policy, and who stands firmly for non-interventionism. Either Ron Paul wins, or we are sunk.

Go Romney! I honestly believe he may be the most dynamic candidate the republican party has ever had. I think we need to somebody like Romney, who looks and acts a little better and brighter than most other repubs. It’ll reinvigorate the party, and take the monopoly away from Dems on that stuff.
