Isakson on a run for governor: ‘I’ll be on the ballot in ‘10 — I just haven’t decided where’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
In an article in Sunday’s Marietta Daily Journal, U.S. Sen. Johnny Isakson gave what we think is the first indication from the man himself that he’s giving some thought to a run for governor in ‘10.
The link to the newspaper this morning has some sort of glitch, but here’s the quote:
“I love the state of Georgia. I’m going to be on the ballot in 2010, and where I am on the ballot depends on what I decide after the 2008 elections are over.”
Clear enough?

On the ballot because he’s done such a good job for Georgia? Or, because his fascist plutocrat pals think there’s more mileage in the scam? Note: one-third of Atlanta AM radio stations broadcast in Spanish.

I respect Johnny Isakson as a person. However, I don’t respect the positions he’s taken in the Senate. From what I can tell, he supports maintaining troops in Iraq, supports budgets that have increased the national debt, supports judges that decide in favor of corporations over the Constitution and supports this awful President and the non-stop illegal activity undertaken by his administration on behalf of the Republican Party and to the detriment of most Americans.
No, Senator Isakson doesn’t represent me or this State very well, and I, for one, would prefer that he retire.

Think Johnny’s figuring he could be the senior Senator form Georgia after ‘08? He’ll have to stand on his own two feet then. I guess he thinks he can make his own decisions too!!

In other words, if the Republicans are not back in the driver’s seat of the Gravy Train after next year, he wants out of the Senate. A man of conviction!

Johnny needs to be recalled from his present position for treason, certainly not be considered seriously for any position except perhaps the civilian liason for the Chamber of Commerce.
The gang initiation execution in Newark was cold blooded murder to join MS 13, not for robbery. These are the same gang members that Johnny decided could just renounce their gang affliations and then be granted amnesty.

I’m not a big Isakson fan. I used to like him more when he was closer to the middle but he sucked up to the right to get elected and for the most part has hung on to the President.
Having said that I hope he runs for Governor. Despite the change in the country to the Democrats Georgia isn’t going to change enough to elect a Democrate. I’d much rather Isakson be Governor than Cagle or Westmoreland. Of course this might be bad news as Westmoreland probably wouldn’t run for Governor knowing he’d get whipped by Isakson. That means we’d be stuck with him in Congress.
