Maybe Hugo will send him a lovely parting gift. A barrel of crude, perhaps?

Macon Mayor Jack Ellis, with only a few months left to serve, has sent some big love to oil-rich Venezuela.

According to the Macon Telegraph, the mayor couriered a declaration of “solidarity” to Hugo Chavez, the nationalizing president who’s out to replace Fidel Castro in the hearts of young revolutionaries.

Ellis — who raised eyebrows with his recent conversion to Islam — says he made the declaration in his dual capacity as mayor of a middle Georgia city and vice president of tourism for the World Conference of Mayors.

Chavez apparently read the proclamation on the Sunday broadcast of his weekly TV and radio show, “Alo, Presidente.”

What a doofus! C. Jack Ellis, a.k.a. Hakim Monsour Ellis is an embarressment not only to Macon but to all Georgians. His eight years of megalomanical attention seeking will be over in December, but his legacy will linger for years. He took a city with a $28 million dollar surplus to one having to borrow money to meet payroll. Just wait till the Feds get through with his administration. The attention he will soon be getting is probably not what he bargained for. Just sit back and watch the fireworks! Allen-Macon Georgia

If you were being investigated by the Fed’s wouldn’t you want to have a relationship with the leader of a country that does not have an extradition treaty with the US?

It has been a dark eight years for my hometown. Mercifully, the end is on the horizon. Macon voters threw out much of the old guard in the primaries and will hopefully follow through in the general election.

We can only hope that Jack Ellis meets the same fate as Bill Campbell. Hopefully in a much shorter time frame.

Jack Ellis is near about as crazy as that child molesting cult leader who was convicted in Macon, Nuwaubian high chief Malachi York. Maybe they can room in the same federal cell one day.

C. Jack Ellis is going to end up living in either Ghana or Venezuela when his term in office ends in December, as I well believe that the feds will be paying him a visit afterwards. He has united all of us in Macon on one point, however - no matter if we’re black, white, male, female, young, or old, we’re all ashamed of Ellis and his antics. And then some.

I would like to apologize to the State, The nation, and the world on behalf of Macon for the idiot formerly known as C. Jack Ellis.

Jim et al,

This is your formal invitation to visit Downtown Macon before our main global tourist attraction leaves office. I’m hoping Hugo flies in for this one, so bring your pad and camera.

September’s First Friday starts about 5:30p.m. Friday Sept 7th. If you can’t make September, check NewtownMacon dot com for info regarding future events.

I’ll be at the airport helipad waiting to chaufer Hugo, so may be a few minutes late.
