The total for three Democrats in the U.S. Senate race: $282,380
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Finally, financial disclosures for all three Democratic candidates in the U.S. Senate race have become available. Moneywise, they’re not an impressive lot.
Not when compared to Saxby Chambliss’ millions.
DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones leads with $188,970 total raised and $154,403 in cash on hand as of June 30. Here’s the federal link to his documents.
Dale Cardwell reported $50,165 total raised, with $42,665 in the bank. For some reason, he doesn’t show up on the Federal Elections Commission web site yet, but here’s the document his campaign handed us.
And ecologist Rand Knight now reports a total $43,245 raised — but that includes a $28,000 personal loan. He’s got $21,563 in cash on hand, according to his federal disclosure.

Ha ha! Isn’t it funny that some candidates don’t have enough money to buy the office, the way incumbent millionaires do!
That’s democracy at work for ya. Only rich people have a chance to participate. Snicker.

The fact that he has millions of his own indicates that he’s the only one qualified to be US Senator from Georgia. He’s smart enough to be rich and you whiners are not. He was also smart enough to stay out of the Vietnam War by playing sports and sustaining a knee injury. That makes him smarter than anyone who actually served (or got wounded) in a war, therefore, he should be make decisions about the current war. Go Saxby! (And if you’re reading this, thanks for the stock tip on the defense contractor. Things are going GREAT!)

I have spent a little time checking the figures. Jones says he has raised 3 times more than Cardwell. It looks as if Cardwell has raised 2.8 times as much in the same period. VJ: $17,900 from 02/04/07 - 06/30/07 DC: $50,165 from 04/01/07/ 06/30/07
Jones had money from previous contributions. Cardwell had not. Jones got most of his contributions from developers, mortgage officers and lawyers. I wonder why? Cardwell got most of his contributions from the average person on the street that believes he will not be owned.
Hmm. If Cardwell has lived a life free from the anchors that Jones has snagged, maybe he has more than a chance!

Dr. Broun’s victory in the 10th district has “terrified those incumbent Republican who had thought themselves safe for re-election in 2008”. Money will not save Saxby.
