First the apologies to Broun, then the fight to keep what’s now his
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The necessary kissing-and-making-up has already begun in the post-wonderment period of Paul Broun’s apparent victory of the 10th District race.
“Dr. Broun is a testament to perseverance,” writes state Sen. David Shafer (R-Duluth) in his blog. “I stood with my Senate Republican colleagues in support of our fellow caucus member Jim Whitehead. But I am confident that Paul Broun will make an outstanding addition to the United States Congress.”
So there’s that. But we have to say, the Athens physician shouldn’t be resting comfortably, despite the miracle he’s pulled off. We’re already hearing talk — not from Shafer, by the by — that Broun’s likely to face opposition in next year’s Republican primary.
Frankly, we can’ t imagine Augusta letting that seat go without another fight. It’s worth wondering what state Rep. Barry Fleming (R-Harlem), who bowed out of the race before it began, is thinking today.

Father, we thank you and praise you for this victory today! Mr. Broun was the only true Christian in the race and you have lifted him up to high office and vanquished the unbeliever! Now we pray that you will send him to Washington with our Christian President so that he may work with the Republican majority to declare all Democrats and so-called “moderate” Republicans to be enemy combatants and ship them off to Guantanamo Bay to be tortured, in the name of our Lord! Praise His Holy Name! Amen!

The Captain supports the aforestated Prayer, and wishes to extend the pleas that those who might vex the wishes of Our Lord and Our Leader may perish in eternal damnation and hellfire…immediately after they are waterboarded and saddammized with electrical implements, in the name of Our Nation and Our Lord. Amen.
Amen, indeed. Nothing like a little revival activity to get the Captain rubbing his ample thighs.

Congrats to Paul Broun and the majority of the voters in the 10th District who stuck their thumb in the nose of the establishment! Once again the Gold Dome tried to tell the voters who should be elected and the voters said otherwise.
Now… one quick question… What is this love affair that this columnist seems to have with State Representative Barry Fleming? It leaves readers to think that this Political Insider column is a campaign tool for the slick young Republican. Look back in the files and see if you can find one critical comment about him from here. It’s all praise and fluff. AJC can do better!

Georgia Dawg—I have noticed an unusual interest in this Political Insider with Rep. Fleming as well. What makes him so qualified and natural, Sirs Galloway and Baxter?
