Another Yankee, another surprise attack: Cheney makes a secretive visit to Kennesaw Mountain
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
So there we were — one of us, anyway, the one who’s not retiring to a life of leisure — making the evening slog up I-75 through heavier-than-usual rush-hour traffic.
The radio was on. Vice President Dick Cheney had declared himself part of the legislative branch, and thus immune to some law about the handling of classified info.
And there was news about efforts to shut down the detention camp in Guantanamo Bay. Cheney was part of that story, too.
Cops lined every overpass on the interstate, which was strange. And all entrances to Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park were blocked. We commuters were a bit ticked.
It was the guy on the radio. The vice president had made a surprise visit to a reunion of descendants of the 21st Ohio, who fought in the run-up to the Battle of Atlanta. No press, no photos, no word put out to anyone.
Not to us. Not to his troops on the ground.
“I find it a bit embarrassing that I didn’t know anything about it,” said Scott Johnson, chairman of the Cobb County Republican Party.
Then he called Sue Everhart, a Cobb resident and chairman of the state GOP. She didn’t know anything either.
“That made me feel better,” Johnson said.
Everhart called about 10 p.m. tonight. She said the lack of a heads up had her ready to make a bit of a fuss to her contact at the White House.

My thanks for the ever considerate Veep for blocking one of the two major interstates through the city with the worst traffic in the USA on a Friday afternoon at 5pm. Glad your precious motorcade is more important than working people. Kiss my campaign contribution goodbye.

Kennesaw Mountain will need to be fumigated the same way the Mayans cleans its sacred land after W’s visit there.
How upseting to see our beloved park closed to “regular citizens” because Mr. Untouchable was there !
How much longer can we tolerate the arrogance and lawlesness of this administration?

I had to sit in traffic for 1.5 hours on 75 going N because of that A-Hole! I drove down to Tifton this morning and needed to drop off a rental car in Atlanta by 7 PM. I just made it even though I should have arrived way sooner. What an idiot this guy is to require the major highway going in to Atlanta be shut down during rush hour. Does anyone out there really like this guy?

To the Cobb republicans….you got what you voted for…to those that were smart enough to vote against him…sorry you have to live with the best excuse for not impeaching “W”.

Yeah and Clinton and Gore did the same when they were in office. Do you hate them too? I doubt it.

Hey Tudez, it was Lincoln’s Republican Party that defeated the South at Kennesaw Mountain. Do you think we should fumigate Piedmont Park after this weekend? You must be driving a Prius with a ponytail who believes the US Government staged 9-11, that doesn’t have a clue about reality in the world.

Remember, Cheney was one of 3 people in the House of Representatives (WY) that voted against Meals on Wheels for senior citizens. No wonder his heart needs repairing.

The Presidential TFR around Dobbins has been in place for about a week, I guess you Republicans don’t check your NOTAMS? I thought Bushie was coming to raise some cash, but then no Republicans want to be seen with him anyway.

A little bit of history Mr. Scott. The Union forces did not defeated the Confederates in Kennesaw. When the battle was over, unable to pierce the Confederate line, what remains of the Union attackers withdraw to safer territory.
You must read to know.

There has been a Presidential TFR published in the NOTAMS for about a week, so this visit is no surprise. That is how they tell pilots that the airspace will be closed during the arrival and departure of a President or VP. I thought Bushie was coming to raise some cash, but then no Republican wants to be seen with him, so Cobb County Republicans are better off not knowing.

I don’t know what a TFR or a NOTAM is … and I don’t give a flying flip either. All I know is I was late picking up my son from daycamp ($1 a minute) because Slick Dick and Co. decided it was okay to paralyze all traffic headed Northwest during the heart of rush hour. One poor fellow couldn’t get his car started back up again after sitting on 75 for 15 minutes. Could this administration be more out of touch reality? (For our sakes, I sure hope not.)

The only time this traitorous coward comes out of his “Spider Hole” is to show his continuing arrogance.

FlDawg, your mother was right to teach you not to hate, but if you do hate someone, at least know how to spell their name.

Dick Cheney is THE man, y’all need to get over it.

Dick “Other Priorities” Cheney is no man at all. Nine months and one day after the draft law was changed to include childless husbands his first child was born.
The evil coming out of him now is a manifestation of the long festering fear any righteous father teaches his sons to confront…maybe that’s why he never got a son…besides the girl he and his “lesbian-potboiler” writer-wife tried to turn into a “son.”

Fumigate the mountain. We Yankees will pick up the tab.

“Bitter EX democrackkk”: You can only consider the truth “vicious” if it threatens your established lies.
America’s Whig Founders were liberal in the truest and finest sense of the word. All good Americans own them an eternal debt of gratitude for it.
Democrats’ refusal to bring Bush and Cheney to trial, for their easily proven 9-11 and false war treason, making them, as a group, Accessories After the Fact, suggests Rockefeller, and Rome - whom Bush’s and Cheney’s faction have served since before they assassinated Meriwether Lewis on the Natchez Trace, control BOTH major parties.
Let America be One Nation. Let all citizens of good conscience bring this evil to an end. Whether Truth and Justice Commission mercy or complete adjudication, expropriation, and execution, Righteousness must prevail for America to be America, in truth.

Why are all of you so upset about being inconvenienced by Chicken Hawk Cheney? The man has never done a thing in his life that didn’t start out with the premise of “What’s-In-It-For-Me?” From his cowardly refusal to serve his country during the Vietnam War like some of us did (he said,”I had other priorities.”), to his lying to you suckers (not me) about why we had to fight a war in Iraq, many of y’all have bought this guy’s bull_ _ it from Day One. While he saved his yellow neck in the 1960s and 1970s from having to put his butt in a uniform, to his “taking care” of Halliburton to the tune of billions and billions of YOUR tax dollars on a sole-source contract, he’s let the sons and daughters of we “suckers” die so he and all of his friends could make a lot of money. Don’t cry about the minor inconvenience of having to sit in traffic for close to 2 hours on I-75….don’t cry. For those of you who’ve voted the Cheney-Bush ticket two times in a row AND now complain about your incoveniences, I say, “You’re fools who deserve what you’ve gotten.” If you think you’ve been inconvenienced sitting on I-75, wait until you learn how much this bas_ _ _ d has stolen from you from right infront of your stupid noses. But, hey, he’s your guy, not mine.
Republicans are REALLY gonna hate ‘08!!!
