Evidence that state Rep. Mike Jacobs (D-Atlanta) might finally be ready to switch?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
For months and months and months, we’ve been hearing that state Rep. Mike Jacobs, the Atlanta Democrat, has been fixin’ to get ready to switch parties.
He may be getting close. He sent the following confidential e-mail out this morning:
Subject: Invitation to Press Conference
Dear Friends:
I would like to invite you to a press conference that I am holding on Wednesday, June 27, at 9:00 a.m. in the Hearst Building at Oglethorpe University.
This press conference is about a decision I have reached regarding my future service to constituents in House District 80.
Without being too mysterious, let me assure you that each of you will approve of this decision.
I ask that you keep this e-mail message and the press conference strictly confidential. Please let me know via reply e-mail whether you will be able to attend. I hope to see you on June 27!
Thanks,
Mike

Well, it hasn’t happened yet, but if Mike Jacobs does switch parties it is a really dumb move. His selfish action would backfire bigtime. His ability to be bipartisan would evaporate which is one of the keys for him in this District.
While I’m sure he will get some extra cash from gleeful Republicans (and this is an expensive district in which to run), the Democratic money will flow like Niagra. This District isn’t some South Georgia Republican District. The Dems really have a great shot a knocking this switcher out of the ballpark and sending a strong message to potential future sell-outs.
Despite the obvious fact that he would get some prize from the Republican Majority, it really is a short term sell-out. With the President at 29% in the polls is Jacobs so narcisistic that he thinks he alone can get out the vote? Wednesday will answer that question.
And who knows, maybe he wants to run for something else? Either way, life is about to be very, very different for Mike Jacobs. Party switchers are very partisan animals, by definition. It appears he is about to put party above everything else.

Considering how state GOP people treat their own, why would anyone want to join that bunch? Look no further than Dunwoody, where local Republicans were sold out by the House’s top Republicans. So, apparently, he’s not switching for more influence in the House.

I googled the name Mike Jacobs to discover the Florida Marlins baseball team is placing their Mike Jacobs on a disabled unable to perform list.
I guess the Georgia Democrats are about to do the same thing with their Mike Jacobs.

Well, there’s one favorite activity that makes Mike Jacobs trnasition from Democrat to Republican quite easy:
badmouthing Saxby Chambliss
Democrats do it but Republicans do it more.
But now, what to do with all those pesky photos with Max Cleland and Denise Majette.

Mike I hate to see you go, but I don’t know why? You once called me Rob Pitts and now you are over there with your good friend Rob.
The GOP don’t switchers very good! If you don’t understand what I am saying just look at what happening to “Oakywoods Sonny”.
I hope that none of the bills he vetoed on May 30th was sponored by you. You should also be warned that the other Party somtimes eat their young.
Look at what happen to Ralp Reid the young GOP brain that was thought to be on track for 1600 Penn. Ave. He never made it to the Gold Dome! Good Luck and Good Riddens!!!
