The deal on Rand Knight: His press release and bio
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Just got a note from Rand Knight, a 35-year-old scientist with the National Ecological Observatory Network, who announced his Democratic candidacy for the U.S. Senate race with his e-mail.
Here’s his web site, though some finishing touches are still needed.
If you’ll read his bio and press release, you’ll know as much about him as we do.
Knight comes into this race only four days after former WSB-TV reporter Dale Cardwell did the same. DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones is interested in the race, but has made no formal declaration of candidacy.

This boy says he’s “steeped in southern history and Georgia tradition”…
I do believe he’s “steeped” in something else…..
That boy’s spent 13 years going to college in Middlebury Vermont and Seattle, Washington…then got a job in Honduras…all this aint got nothing to do with Georgia or southern history.
Little Randy has spent more time out of Georgia as an adult than he ever spent in Georgia playing as a child.
They aint even got grits or fried okra in Vermont or Washington so unless little Randy is gonna spend the next 518 mornings before election day 2008 eating in the Waffle House; he can’t claim southern history or Georgia tradition to be on his side.

He spent more time discussing his family tree than listing his qualifications for US Senate.

It’s going to be a trifle difficult for Dr. Knight to take the populist route.
At $16,820 per year, the Westminster School is not exactly Title I. Filet Mignon and Creme Brulee are not exactly lunch lady fare.
I suppose he could elicit sympathy for the cold Vermont winters he endured (if only he doesn’t mention the lodge and the cappacino by the fireplace).
Yep, not to worry. Even Vernon is laughing at this one.
Goodnight Dr. Knight!

Why not? The M.O. for rich Democrats always seems to be the populist route - i.e. John Kerry, John Edwards, Ted Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, Mark Taylor, etc..

Anybody want to talk about William Jefferson ..Democrat Louisianna? The $90,000 in cold cash in the frezzer(planted by the man!) The rerouted National Guard truck to get belongings out of his home during the Katrina flood. Only for the truck to break down and then summin another truck to finnish the job.Using the National Guard troops like Shurpas…..

This just in: Only rich people are allowed to hold office, regardless of who they claim to be fighting for.
Is anyone else shocked by this revelation?

Sherman, Given Tom Delay and others there is no political gain from this one. The better part of wisdom suggests that its best to let the Jefferson matter run its course. Sound bite pounding will not have a gaining effect in 2008 because the voters have been awaken by the consequences of Republican behavior and policies.

When some youngster with absolutely no political experience suddenly bursts on the scene with a slick web page and positions on every key issue, there is only one priority question:
Whose funding this guy?
