The governor is ready to put his signature to the Feb. 5 presidential primary

We just got word that Gov. Sonny Perdue will hold a Tuesday ceremony to celebrate his signing of S.B. 194, a bill that will move Georgia’s presidential primary next year from March to Feb. 5.

Georgia will be joining 20 other states, including New York and California, that have moved their dates to create something like a national primary. Florida has sparked a national controversy by shifting its primary to Jan. 29.

I want associate my comments with those of Glenn about “GOV SONNY” visions that through some freak accident of nature his name could and stress “COULD” end up on the February 5th Presidential ballot. You said Fat chance and I would add DITTO or as is spoken the World of Talking Head RUSH”S Show MEGA DITTOS!!!!!!!!!

I never seen a second term Govenor enter the Lame Duck Status in his very first year after being re-elected to a second term! He was simply a NON ENTY doing the most recent session the General Assembly. It was so bad that SONNY had Veto, then Un-veto A Budget Bill. Someone Please tell me what is the legal definition of “UN-VETO” PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sonny’s already lived a charmed life by being elected Governor once, much less twice…and even he has to know that his appeal for President of the United States of America would be rivaled by the appeal of porn video starring 98 yr olds.

He might be short and slow, but it’s not likely he’s that dumb.

Laugh if you will, but my sources tell me some serious strategy meetings were held this morning on West Paces Ferry Road as follows:

If Roy Barnes continues to move up in the polls for U.S. Senate, then the only person to ever beat Roy would run against him: Governor Sonny Perdue.

Simple rationale: Governor Perdue already has a strong presence in Washington D.C. as Chairman of the National Republican Governor’s Conference plus the true pay-off; LtGov. Cagle then becomes Governor on January 3, 2009 when Sen-Elect Perdue is sworn in. Additionally, with Sonny Perdue running for U.S. Senate in 2008, he provides up ticket help for the GOP Presidential ticket in Georgia.

This incredible scenario also gives Cagle a lock on the 2010 GOP Gubenatorial nomination and shuts Richardson out of the process plus Cagle gets to hand pick his successor as LtGov.

That’s a nice little strategy. I can’t wait to see how it plays out. Let the games begin!

Matt, you make this political stuff look like a low-rent process, lacking any human soul! It’s all set up through relationships and cig-smoking, paid political bs’ers?!?

If Sonny Do List Perdue wins a national seat…without the lightning strike of hot-button issues like flags or p** off thousands of GA teachers…I will be embarrassed for our state.

Dear Short But Slow:

Where have you been? Are you 17 years old taking a civics class in high school? Welcome to the real world. These arrangments are handled way in advance. Voters are just peripheral ornaments to validate the process.

Trust my sources on West Paces Ferry Road:

  • Saxby slides faster than a greased pig.
  • Roy rises in the polls faster than Martha White biscuts.
  • The Georgia GOP gets nervous fast and rallys around a Perdue-for-Senate boomlet.
  • Casey Cagle and supporters quickly support the Sonny-for-Senate scenario.
  • Glenn and his supporters are instantly nuetralized - would they dare not support the Governor running to save the GOP?
  • Cagle becomes Governor on January 3, 2009.
  • The Georgia GOP is elated in 2010 hosting another coronation instead of an ugly dog fight.
  • The money, the campaign, the marketing, the strategic supporters have all been arranged - the only two people left out of the loop on this one: Saxby & Glenn.
