Georgia Right to Life says it will pursue “no abortions, no exceptions” next year
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
This week’s decision by the U.S. Supreme Court against partial-birth abortion has fired up those who would like to do away with abortion entirely — even in cases of rape and incest.
Dan Becker of Georgia Right to Life says his group next year will push a state constitutional amendment to declare the unborn as legal “persons” worthy of protection.
Becker is quoted on WorldNetDaily, a religious-oriented network, as saying that the effort is only a vote or two short of the two-thirds that would be needed to put the measure on the ’08 ballot.
Here’s the gist:
Becker told WND that’s the key, and since pro-life legislation in the state Senate already has been collecting about 39 votes, two more than would be needed to approve such a constitutional provision, and in the state House, the pro-life votes number about 116, just four shy of the needed number, the issue is within “striking distance.”
We’ve talked with other anti-abortion figures at the Captiol. They’re waiting until they get through this session to figure out their next moves.

Just as the conservative religous are forcing their views in Indonesia, they are doing the same here. The only difference is that there it is Islam.
I fear that the world is quickly moving to a World War III that will be a religous war because of these crazy extreme conservatives.
This must be stopped!

One major difference, here people on all sides have the right to promote an agenda and try to get it passed. If they do the other side can try and change it. This is why we have the “Abortion” issue still going on. It is our right to discuss and petition through our legislatures and representatives to “do the will of their constituents”. Militant Islam is doing it by the suicide bomb, cut off head, killing of Christian school children et all. That is a big difference and shouldn’t be so callously lumped together.

I have two daughters, and I will fight like crazy to make sure they continue to have the right to an abortion if they are ever raped by some thug.
But I do agree with Darrell on one thing - the various state legislatures should fight it out and reach a decision. Having the issue decided by nine people in black robes just stirs up discontent on both sides of the issue. If we thrash it out as a society, and reach some consensus, then even those people who disagree with the decision might not be so agitated about it.

If these “Right to Life” idiots think legislation is going to stop all abortions they’re as crazy as they are stupid. In third world countries where all abortions are illegal the number of deaths from toxic shock in back alley clinics would make you sick. All you’re going to do is cause more deaths.
