DEL.ICIO.USIn Cagle’s defense: Gun bill sponsor said the lieutenant governor did the right thing

State Sen. Chip Rogers, the sponsor of the guns-in-parking-lot bill, sent us a note this morning.
It referred to last night’s intra-caucus dust-up that had some Republican senators in near revolt.
Said Rogers:
“Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle worked tirelessly over the last three weeks to find a compromise on this issue. The suggestion that he did anything to hurt the Republican caucus is preposterous.
“I was part of the entire negotiation process on SB 43 and HB 89. Casey Cagle’s effort to find middle ground, while protecting every member of the Senate, both Republican and Democrat, should be applauded.”

Easy for Senator Rogers to say, he’s not John Douglas or any of the other senators who will be targeted by NRA come re-election time!

Even if these guys are “targeted” by the NRA any responsible voter hopefully will realize that yesterday was no time to debate this bill regardless of what the NRA thinks.

Hearing a truthful statement from Chip Rogers is about as likely as hearing the NRA endorsing Hillary Clinton for president. Not only is he a liar, he’s a stupid liar.
Nice try at the CYA Chip. Sure, everyone just imagined the whole thing. Riiiight.

Senator Rogers is the epitome of a smarmy politician. So, of course, he will do well in Georgia.
