Balfour yanks the needle on mandatory cervical cancer vaccines
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
In today’s editions, the Macon Telegraph reports that Senate Rules Chairman Don Balfour has declared his bill for mandatory HPV vaccines for sixth-grade bills to be dead for the session.
Balfour cited overwhelming opposition from member of his own republican party. He told the Telegraph there’s a possibility it could come back up next year.
“Maybe,” Balfour said.

I am glad that this won’t be mandatory. The vaccine has not been out long enough to evaluate any long term side effects. Let’s not forget thalidomide that was so safe that it was prescribed to pregnant women. Look at all the birth defecta attributed to it. It will have to be out for longer before my daughter gets it.

I think the American public ought to demand that all lawmakers’ eligible daughters, neices, grandchildren etc. be the first lined up to take this vaccine should it become “mandatory”. Show us just how much you believe in it.
Just like I’d like to see the same’s sons, daughters, grandchildren, etc get on the front lines and fight for what their mommies and daddies so “believe” in.
This is just another hose job that will open us up for more weird unexplainable diseases in the next 10 - 15 years, as if we don’t have enough already!
Scheisty M-F’s!

We want mandatory parental involvement and consent on issues such as abortion, birth control, etc. but we want the state to mandate girls to have this immunization without further research and proof this is worth all risk. Seeing a legislator take such a reckless attitude on policy with children makes me wonder…
