Morning gleanings: Kingston on McCain, and pressure on Marshall to stay put

The Los Angeles Times has a piece today on the inside-the-Beltway campaign for president.

It contains this explanation from U.S. Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Savannah) on why members of Congress aren’t flocking to the side of U.S. Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.):

“He’s hurt himself with the Republican rank and file,” said [Kingston], who is leaning toward supporting [Mitt] Romney and who invited the former governor to speak to a group of House Republicans in January. Many times, “McCain is the spoiler on legislation. House members have gotten tired of it over the last six years.”

And in Monday’s The Politico, there’s this telling paragraph about the Democratic side of the ’08 race for the U.S. Senate in Georgia:

The House Democratic leadership is hoping that [U.S. Rep. Jim] Marshall won’t challenge [Republican incumbent Saxby] Chambliss next year. “I think if Jim left the seat to run for Senate,” the Democrats “would probably lose it,” said Doug Moore, Marshall’s spokesman.

This is the guy who said, per CBS today:

“Democrats, said Rep. Jack Kingston, R-Ga., are saying to forces in Iraq: “Americans are dying, the situation is dire, but we are not going to send more reinforcements. You are on your own.”

Unable to think outside the boundaries set by Bush and Cheney. Therefore irrelevant.

He’s also the guy who whined about the horrors of working five days a week.

OH, HAPPY DAYS ARE HERE AGAIN!!! It makes me proud to be a Republican when I see Rep. Kingston expose the Dems true yellow stripes. Their “Let’em throw cake (at the enemy)” instead of supporting our troops’s needs clearly shows they are the “Cut-and-Run-Kerry- Cowards.”

ALSO…HAPPINESS IS: Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore is setting up one of those exploratory committees preparatory to announcing his candidacy for President! Happy Valentne’s Day!

Or the party who still endorsed W’s “fodder for terrorists” policy? I mean after all didn’t Kingston rabidly support the wonderful generals and wonderful CiC who has screwed us over in Iraq and the world? Cut and run vs. no plan and trumped up war….HAPPINESS is seeing Bush finally admitting he’s human and can make mistakes after all. SADNESS is that over 3000 of America’s finest had to die for Bush to realize this.
