Kind of like Monica changed her name, only different
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Jack Ellis, the irascible mayor of Macon, will soon no longer be that. Not mayor, although his term expires this year. He won’t be Jack.
After becoming a Sunni Muslim during a December ceremony in West Africa, Ellis is working to legally change his name to Hakim Mansour Ellis. This according to an Associated Press report out of Macon.
Ellis was raised Christian, but said he’d been studying the Quran for years and that his new religion was originally practiced by his ancestors before they were brought to North America as slaves.
“Why does one become a Christian?” Ellis said. “You do it because it feels right. It’s the right thing for you to do. … To me it’s no big deal. But people like to know what you believe in. And this is what I believe in.”
At the request of his two of his daughters, Ellis said he will keep his last name the same.

Is this the same C. Jack Ellis who has a levee that has not been maintained?
The following is from a USA Today story:
Macon’s mayor, C. Jack Ellis, ordered city employees who operate the levee not to discuss it — or the cost of fixing it, said his spokesman, Ron Wildman.
In Macon, Ga., a mile-long levee that protects a water treatment plant was considered substandard by the corps because of trees and brush that have sprouted from it for years. Corps spokesman Billy Birdwell said the flora could weaken the levee. “Many of these items are considered routine maintenance,” he said.

Polictical career suicide. Bad move by a bad mayor, I doubt he would have been re-elcted, this just confirms he won’t be. You’re beyond ignorant and naive if you think a name change like that won’t have an impact on the voter, the mainstream average Amercian voter. I am aware that MN elected a Muslim, but that state has also produced some candidates that have a place in history as suffering the the biggest Presidential defeats, ever. His political career now has the lifespan of a housefly in October.

We could never have the Muslim-style government take over this country. A woman could never get elected president. Bill Clinton (a dis-barred attorney) could never win an appointment to the Supreme Court. NEVER SAY NEVER MY FRIENDS!
A self-proclaimed Muslim is the mayor of one of Georgia’s largest cities. A Muslim has been elected to Congress, another is a senator and running for president. A woman is barrelling down on the Democrat Party’s nomination for the nation’s highest office AND WILL LIKELY APPOINT HER HUSBAND to the nation’s highest court.
It couldn’t happen in this country??? If the Dems continue to be the driving force behind the direction this country is headed…it WILL happen, sooner rather than later.

Oh no. Not a vale. Or a veil.
Oh no. Not a muslim. Or should it be Islam?
I’ve met exactly two Iranian men in my life. Both were bad experiences.
I think one of them killed the most charming cat I’ve ever met.
But that’s no excuse for hating everyone who doesn’t look or sound like you. It’s hard to accept. Believe me, I know. Those men, full of hubris, who think they know everything, make me mad. (plus there’s that whole thing about comma)
