On Ralph Reed: Remember that he’s still got an IOU with Rudy

This tidbit is in today’s Hotline:

When we asked Team Romney about whether Ralph Reed was joining as an adviser, we received a denial. The Politico’s Jonathan Martin coaxed a more equivocal answer out of Kevin Madden (Romney’s mouthpiece): “He doesn’t have a formal role in our campaign organization.”

Most likely, what Reed does will depend on what Rudy Giuliani does. Remember that Reed, the former GOP candidate for lieutenant governor, enlisted the ex-mayor of New York in last year’s unsuccessful bid for office.

Then there’s that Giuliani memo showing Bernie Marcus, the Home Depot founder, as one of Rudy’s main guys.

So the Repubs are still hanging around Ralphie? Gag. This is a party devoid of any decency—-or common sense, given his popularity in the last election. Georgia is the reddest state you can find, and voters here still treated Ralph Reed like a Tech fan at Sanford stadium.

Go ahead you morons, keep electing Republicans! Georgia isn’t far enough behind the rest of the thinking world yet. And we just haven’t seen politics sink to its absolute lowest level, who wants to miss out on that?

I’m already soured on the Giuliani candidacy based on his support for the cretin Reed. Don’t think some of us won’t keep reminding our friends!

Like Reed or not, the fact is that he is one of the best strategist in America. Maybe he is not the best candidate, but then again, Karl Rove, James Carville, Paul Begala, or Dick Morris wouldn’t be the best candidates either. Let’s remember Ralph Reed was very successful while working for the Bush Campaign. Whether you voted for Reed or not, or even if you are a Democrat, you have to admit the guy is a behind the scenes master.

Oh, I admit that Reed is a behind the scenes master. His mistake was alienating both everyday voters and the Christian Conservative base. When you get caught manipulating church votes while profiting as a lobbyist, even cynical voters get nauseated. He’s a poison pill nowadays, and Democrats will play up any connection he has to Republican candidates.

And I hope the kool-aiders who were used by the Bush campaign realize what idiots they were. The were tooled by a guy who talks Jesus while lining up the votes. Sheep.

At least James Carville doesn’t pretend to have God on his side.

I am and never was impressed with Ralph. We did not have grassroots organization and training to built successful precincts. It was all about 72 hours. We build a party year around and not wait until the election is just around the corner. We also have county chairmen that are “do nothing”. They just want to show up at conventions. The GAGOP with Ralph and others were interested in “big bucks” and running everything from ATL. Until we get serious about having strong precinct organization and what the mission is (help Republican candidates-ALL who are running in a primary and be involved with governmental issues)we are doomed for failure in the future.
