Bush/Iraq approval down to 38 percent in Georgia

If you’re President Bush, some truly disturbing numbers can be found in the poll of 800 Georgia voters released this morning by Strategic Vision, a GOP-leaning public affairs firm.

Bush’s overall approval has dropped to 42 percent — and Iraq is to blame. On the economy, 46 percent said they approved of what he’s doing. On the war on terror, 49 percent expressed approval.

But when it came to Bush’s Iraq policy, only 38 percent approved. This in a state widely viewed as pro-military, and one of the most friendly to the president.

Only 33 percent approved of sending more troops to Iraq, and 43 percent said they would support Congress if it chose to cut off funding to block the sending of more troops. Forty-nine percent said they would oppose the maneuver.

The poll was conducted Jan. 12 through 14, and has a margin of error of plus-or-minus three percentage points.

On local matters, 52 percent of those polled said they favored legislation to allow grocery stores to sell alcohol on Sunday.

It appears this poll has some built in assumptions that might question the validity of its results. For example, of the 46% who approved of what Bush is doing for the economic health of the country, how many know what his economic policies are? The answer tells the extent to which the rendered opinion is either informed or random.

Georgia’s polls results and voting behaviors are quite incongruent. What’s the explanation?

RC, the answer to your question is that voters in Georgia are some of the most uninformed, backwards-thinking, unintelligent people compared to voters in other states.

Mr. Bush and his entire cabinet are war criminals. Those who bothered to read the facts rather than believe the spin knew 5 years ago that Iraq was no threat and that there were no WMD’s. We were called traitors and terrorist sympathizers.

Now Mr. Bush and company have slaughtered tens of thousands of innocent Afghanis and hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqis. These poor people, whose only crime was having the poor fortune to live in a country whose leader fell out of favor with us and to live in a country soaked in oil, are now suffering more than anyone can imagine.

Meanwhile at home our president has become a dictator, our congress is a complete failure, and both major political parties behave as little more than extensions of the totalitarian regime that rules us.

No wonder his numbers are down. It finally shows that all the idiots in this state are finally waking up and discovering the blood all over their hands.
