Our headline? ‘Perdue put in place at RGA convention’
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
We’re grateful to a reader for passing on this item from the New York Times blog, The Caucus.
It seems that at a forum on the internet during the Republican Governor’s Association, Google CEO Eric Schmidt spoke of how the internet is causing big revenue and circulation problems for the nation’s newspapers.
“You know, if some of them went out of business, it wouldn’t all bad,” said Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour.
“That’s what some of us were just thinking,” added Gov. Sonny Perdue.
Memo to the governor: When one of them disses the Dawgs, see what kind of reaction you get when you sit down and fire off a letter to a blog.

Hmmmm, from a Governor that has done his best to restrict and limit the freedom of the press more than any other, that comment sounds about right. Thanks to the two Southern governors for working so darn hard to end those backwater stereotypes.

Will you guys get over the fact that Sonny doesn’t like you and you don’t like Sonny. Get on with something that may be just a tiny bit interseting - please.

Our Founding Fathers were wise. They understood human nature. They knew the the danger of concentrating too much power in one branch of government. Perdue’s continuing refusal to address the lingering questions about his land deals will hurt his governance and embrass our great state. Despite his high likeability and trust factors he is not above the law.
Perdue was re-elected under a cloud of revelations by the ajc pertaining to his use of the Governor’s office for personal enrichment and conflicts of interests. The revelations linger not because of the ajc but because of his misleading responses to questions about them during the re-election campaign. The revelations present facts and in doing so surface questions to which the people of Georgia have a right to expect answers.
For his own sake Perdue had best recognize that arrogance has a tight grip on him. He is making a grave mistake to beleive that his impressive victory exonerates him from accountability.
The Republican controlled legislature cannot ignore this matter and govern with moral authority.

The above comments make the case for Gov. Sonny Perdue. Newspapers are losing out because their editorial staffs (unlike the good producers of this blog) are so biased, we can no longer trust what their papers print.
We can look for the more pro-American news sources on the Internet.

^Pro-American? Did I miss something about the AJC being anti-American?
