There’s more than one Bubba Republican possibility
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Before we get too excited about that chatroom boomlet we reported on last promoting Gov. Sonny Perdue as a possible ’08 Republican presidential candidate, check out the buzz from the state next door.
According to the Associated Press, supporters of Gov. Bob Riley held up signs that said “2008” and “President” at the incumbent Republican’s victory celebration last week.
One possible hurdle to a Riley presidential bid, according to Alabama Republican chair Twinkle Andress Cavenaugh, is Democrat Jim Folsom’s victory in the Alabama lieutenant governor’s race. That means Riley wouldn’t be able to pass the governor’s office on to a Republican if he stepped down.

Riley hasn’t a chance. Some of these southern republicans who win easily over bad democratic opponents in conservative states will quickly learn just how limited their appeal is if they even consider running for president. fwiw, Riley comes across as rather dull. Perdue is actually fairly polished in comparison with Riley. Niether has a chance to become president.

A Perdue-Riley ticket in 08 is a fantastic gift to us Dems. Please, oh please let the GOP run a Southern Republican! That would be awesome. We will be guaranteed a victory then! Like America wants another Bush. Did you guys not pay any attention to what happened last week?

Perdue has some matters pertaining to his land deals that must be cleared up before he can be a credible candidate for anything else, even dog catcher.

“Perdue has some matters pertaining to his land deals that must be cleared up before he can be a credible candidate for anything else, even dog catcher.”
Well his opponent hammered him with nothing but the land deal for over 4 weeks and received less then 40% of the vote. Since Perdue was elected Governor under a non-stop barrage of ads concerning the land deal I’m quite sure he could run for an office above dog catcher.

Perdue’s big win, among other things, was largely due to Taylor’s overdose on the subject. Even members of his own party have not spinned his big victory as a mandate.
Perdue has been either misleading or evasive about the revelations that he used the Governor’s office for personal enrichment. Although the revelations surfaced during the campaign, they are newsworthy and I don’t believe interest in the matter will go away with the end of the campaign. The revelations and his misleading responses will certainly surface if talk gets louder about his possible run for a national office.
Besides that Perdue owes us a better explanation. After all, he is a servant of the people.

If Bill Clinton from Arkansas can get elected President not once but twice, anything is possible. If Hillary Clinton can get elected to the U S Senate anything is possible in the world of politics. If John Lewis can get elected to Congress my dog has a shot at the White House. Who votes for these idiots?

Insiders: Why don’t you guys hold a contest called the “Cynthia McKinney Stupid Blogger Award”?
Initially, I would have nominated Debbie for thiis prize, but I’ve reconsidered and I am nominating GodHatesTrash. He(she?) takes the prize by far. Debbie is the queen of cut and paste and spitting back out the party line. GHT, though, in the spirit of McKinney rambles and makes idioit comments with no basis AT ALL.
Do I have a 2nd?

I voted for Cynthia in the primaries. I would have voted for her had she won. I guess you’re afraid of black people so you moved to Cobb?
Who is your congressperson - ever notice that aside from John Lewis the Georgia delegation is some of the most mediocre halfwits in Congress? Probably not - you live in Cobb, where you’re surrounded by mediocrity.
Based on your contributions here, you’re evidently a dimbulbed bubba. Stupid enough for any stupid blogger award.
Thanks, blogkeeper, for removing the post one of these redneck morons made with my ID last night.

Only in Georgia or Alabama could a moon-faced redneck Junior Samples look-alike like Goobernor Sonny Perdoofus get elected.
The man is a caricature of all things redneck and stupid.
He’s trash.

Someone once told me that “Cobb” is a Cherokee word for “stumpbroke inbred medicore halfwit”. And that’s why they named it Cobb County.

If Bob Riley or Sonny Perdue decide to run for the White House, you can bet their “mugs” will appear on warning label as part of the Warning Labels On Politicians™ campaign. The Warning Labels On Politicians™ campaign is a public service effort aimed at giving people the same type of warnings about politicians that they currently receive about other harmful things in life, such as drugs, tobacco, pesticides, etc. To learn more, type “Warning Labels On Politicians” in a Google search.

The idea of our next president being Riley of Alabama is almost as laughable as Perdue getting the nod. Notice I said almost. (Lord how I wish for the days when Georgia seemed progressive next to Mississippi and Alabama. But alas, no more….)
Anyway, even the yokkkels at free republic recognize the futility of trying to elect a Southern Republican what with all the racial and historical baggage and all. Despite some modern Republicans’ attempts to try to lay claim to the Republican party’s history of progressiveness on civil rights, most of us know better. GOP Southern strategy, GOP Southern strategy, GOP Southern strategy
Never forget, the Democrats of the past are the Republicans of today.
