Cox still appears with Democrats. Maybe it’s something personal with Taylor.

Secretary Cathy Cox may prefer appearances with Gov. Sonny Perdue, a Republican, to standing side-by-side with her former Democratic rival, Lt. Gov. Mark Taylor.

But she’s still cultivating support among Democrats, particularly in state House races. On Tuesday, Cox paid a visit to Gainesville on behalf of Lydia Sartain, the former district attorney who’s running against state Rep. Carl Rogers, the Republican incumbent.

It’s a tighter than expected race, though Rogers has a clear financial advantage.

Cox wouldn’t use the word “endorse” when it came to Sartain. But she went after Rogers with a shovel for his authorship of changes to state laws regulating cemeteries. Here’s the report from Harris Blackwood of the Gainesville Times.

We also talked yesterday to House Minority Leader DuBose Porter of Dublin. He said Cox is on the hook to help Democrats reclaim her old House seat, now occupied by Gene Maddox of Cairo. Maddox, a Republican, is facing Stanley Mobley of Whigham.

Cathy’s a great democrat. To think that she needs to stand up next to Taylor after his low blows is absurd. She was always the only chance dems had against Perdue. I say let Taylor crash and burn by himself (as he is clearly learning to do quite well). She’ll help good democrats that actually deserve it.

Certainly hope Cathy never is trapped between The Fat Guy and a box of doughnuts. So far the only issue the blimp has is Sonny got a tax break that he didn’t. $ 100k might be a lot of money to me or you but it what Buffalo Butt used to spend each week on twinkies, cocaine, and weed. I’ll take a hard working guy any day over a hawg that thinks his daddy’s money can buy him anything.

Realdem’s right on the money! Now I hear Taylor wants to court women??? After all the inuendos from Taylor supporters towards Cox like: “she’s a dumb b….”, and “I can’t wait for Taylor to beat up on that c…”? I think Cathy Cox would need an MRI if she did appear with Taylor! She was the best chance the dems had this year, and I look forward to seeing more of her in the years to come.

What is the big deal? Have writers at the AJC forgotten how Mark Taylor went after Cathy Cox? Whether Cox stands next to Taylor or not, nothing is going to change his fate. He has run a very poor campaign and only seems motivated when he has an opportunity to throw mud. For a matter of fact, his campaign has to be considered the waekest attempt by a Democrat to win keys to the Governor’s Mansion in Georgia’s history.

It is a joke! I can’t even tell you what his issues are. The Big Guy looking out for the little guy???? What person views him or herself as a little guy? What has Taylor done other than eat too much to earn the right to be considered a big guy. I guess he is attempting to take credit for the Georgia Lottery. Wow! I did not even know who the guy was before a few years ago.

Of all the times that Georgia Democrats could separate themselves from the Georgia GOP, this was a great year to do so. Still, Taylor has not made any progress. For his campaign, Georgia Democrats, or anyone else to attempt to link Cox to his failures is a disappointment. Taylor has failed because he and his campaign lacked an effective strategy to unseat our incumbent Governor.

Taylor is running a good campaign, it was a hard fought primary and they had to recoup, but they are going strong now, and Perdue’s campaign is what is floundering. Admintting to the 40 million land deal in their own ad!! Whose dumba$$ idea was that?? and writing a 100K tax break for yourself? The Governor should be using his office to help Georgians not fill his wallet. He didn’t put his companies in blind trusts, he is a liar, and he has a raging temper that is just waiting to explode.

As for Cox, I am glad that she has finally decided to start helping Democrats get elected. The House supported her and so now she is returning the favor, but for the comment letting Taylor lose all on his own, well, that just isn’t going to happen. And we all know that is what the bitter Cox supporters who can’t move on because they lost want: They couldn’t beat Taylor in the primary so they want Perdue to do what they couldn’t, just to have some sort of weird satisfaction.

Most Cox supporters have moved on to support Taylor and are trying to help Democrats get elected, but to those fatalistic few, who don’t care about whether Democrats win or lose anymore, you are doing nothing but hurting yourself and the people of Georgia.

Now Miss Cathy its time to quit yore pout’in, we tried to tell you not to start a brawl you could’t finish. Boss Hawg Perdue’s Cadillac is stuck on the tracks with a locomotive heading round the bend. Jump in the Gen. Lee with the Dukes and ride to the Big Guy’s victory party. We will always welcome family back in the fold.

Cathy Cox needs to concentrate on conducting a fair and inclusive election. She’s SOS until January, and her job is to serve all the people of Georgia and ensure election integrity.

If she’s still carrying a grudge, then so be it. We gotta move on. Mark Taylor can win if Democrats in Georgia get out to vote, AND their vote is counted properly.

A loss by Cathy Cox in the primaries was the final nail in the coffin for any hope of Democrats unseating Perdue this year. Unfortunately, the majority of Democrats didn’t see that. It’s a pity, though, b/c this Republican is one of many that would have voted for Cathy over Sonny. Too bad you guys didn’t know that (or care). Enjoy your defeat Nov 7th.

FYI…Melissa. I voted for Mark Taylor in the primary. I am waiting to decide whether I will vote for him on Election Day next month. My point is Taylor has not spent the majority of his time articulating his message.

I am an African-American and I find it very difficult to vote for any candidate that supports the “protest flag” of my home state, i.e many Georgia Republicans. What am I talking about? I meant the flag erected in 1956 (after President Dwight Eisenhower upheld the US Supreme Court decisions about integrating public schools) to celebrate Georgia’s rich history. It is the Georgia history flag of 1956.

With all of that said the bottom line is my taxes are lower. There is a surplus in the state budget (I strongly believe in balancing the budget) in a time where Federal dollars to states have been drastically cut. I also don’t have to see Georgia on the bottom of the education list. Perhaps, it is all someone else’s doing. I know that it did not look that way here in Georgia before Sonny Perdue became Governor. Those are the facts.

If those facts are inaccurate, the Taylor campaign should help me see it in a different manner. Instead, I get 30 second spots about land in Florida. I don’t really care.

As for Taylor, he has done very little to articulate his message to me (like Democrat Jim Martin has). I honestly regret my decision to vote for him in the primary. I thought that he was the best chance the Democrats had. I stand by my comment Melissa that I can not think of a Democratic Gubernatorial candidate in my entire life that has done a worse job of articulating any message for the people of Georgia. Can you? That is my honest assessment. Frankly, it is Mark Taylor’s job to get his message out to me, a Georgia voter. He has not done that.

Everyone screaming about Cathy Cox should wake up and scream about Mark Taylor’s campaign. Let’s not pretent Taylor’s and his family’s closet is sqeaky clean (I hate politicians that act as though they live in glass houses, like Ralph Reed and now Mark Taylor). He needs to talk about the issues and give me a reason to vote for him other than he is the “Big Guy standing up for the little guy.” I have more self confidence than to view myself as the little guy because Taylor is sitting around with a bunch of little babies. So what am I supposed to do Melissa (get angry about $100k in state tax money and committe appointments)? Taylor has got to give me more than that.

To her misfortune up to this point in the election, Cathy Cox has missed significant opportunities to demonstrate leadership.

During the primary campaign she emphasized her ability to work accross the isle to get things done. Those skills and abilities are glaringly missing when it comes to her own party.

Zell Miller has shown us that endorsements don’t help. It would appear then that the person to benefit the most from a unity gesture would be Cox. Her noticeable detachment from the Taylor campaign speaks volumns about her.

Despite the polls, Taylor is going to win because; Perdue has no base, no performance record to tout, likely supporters are unimpressed with his arrogance, promises ring hallow when you are the incumbent, he thinks he has all of the questions and all of the answers, and most importantly, his re-election strategy banks on the notion that the majority of the voters are not paying attention. Boy is he going to be surprised!

“If she’s still carrying a grudge, then so be it. We gotta move on. Mark Taylor can win if Democrats in Georgia get out to vote, AND their vote is counted properly.”

There you have it. Jawja Peach telling you up front what she and others are gonna say the day after Marky Mark loses. They know they are going to lose. So they need an excuse about the machines right?

Lets see who these Democrats are that are gonna “get out to vote.”

1)Marky Mark could not find anything bad about Catty Cathy during the primary so he just twisted her words and made stuff up in ads he knew were false. Men may get down like that. But women don’t. They are too smart and expect more.

2)Mark used Cynthia McKinney and other black folks during the primary. But as soon as it was over he dissed Cindy and told the rest of us to go stand in the corner. Black folks do not appreciate that.

3)Mark has never been a friend of gay people. Look for them to pay him back like they paid Catty Cathy back during the primary. GAy people don’t forget.

So who is left? Who is gonna “get out to vote?” If Marky Mark loses. He has no one to blame but himself.

Let’s see riley:

  • CC was caught with her own words. No “twisting” there.

  • So, Sonny has been good to black folks?

  • So, Sonny has been good to gays?

  • Mark has a history of being good to women, blacks and gays.

Wow….Georgians are still sitting around trying to figure out what Mark Taylor stands for? After all the money put into the primary shouldn’t everyone know? Truthfully his platform is still unknown to most folks but here’s what we do know; Mark Taylor has never owned his own home, never had a full time job, never had to worry about how to make ends meet and NEVER had to worry about where his next meal was coming from. He is so out of touch with real Georgians and that is what voters need to remember. How can he possibly understand where we are coming from. As far as him needing Cathy Cox to help him win this election—maybe he could have had her by his side if he hadn’t been so quick to deceive, concoct, delude and invent things about her. Calling her a racest and saying that she would return Georgia to the Jim Crow era in a mailout 4 days before the primary was the lowest. For him to accuse someone of racism after his comments years ago when he tried to persuade officials to redraw the maps to give him a senate seat are absurd….remember the audio, “If you’re tired of paying for the sins of your fathers and grandfathers…..” Cathy Cox is a person of the highest caliber and knows what can happen to someone who goes to bed with dogs! When, not if, Mark Taylor loses this election he won’t drag her down with him. And for Uncle Jessie “I ain’t just whistling Dixie!”

Wow…after Taylor spent all that money in the primary, and now the general shouldn’t people know what he stands for? Of course if you are still clueless about what he will do for Georgians maybe you need a little more info on him. Here’s the undisputed truth about Mark Taylor. Mark Taylor has never owned his own home, never had a fulltime job, never had to chose between groceries and prescription drugs (hell-he had em’ both, just without the presciption), never had a worry in the world because Daddy was footing the bill. Admitted drug user, admitted to driving under the influence with his minor child in the car and then sits on TV amongst a room full of babies claiming that he will take care of your children through his PeachKids program. Hell-he can’t even take care of his son, who by the way was arrested for a DUI during a wreck in which the passenger of the car was killed. Role Model? As far as Cathy Cox not appearing at his side during the campaign who would want to? Has he or anyone forgotten how 3 days prior to the primary he sent thousands of postcards to largely black precincts stating that she was a racist and would return Georgia to the Jim Crow era if elected. Cathy Cox is a class act and knows that her reputation is worth more than Mark Taylor.

Taylor is a bum — a political opportunist all his life. He deserves the support of no one. Enough said. There are obviously intelligent people on this board. I’ve never voted a straight ticket in my life. Blind allegiance to a political party is insane! There is no mention of parties in the Constitution, they are ruining our republic! Vote for the best person in all your local races. Change begins at the local level. It then become a groundswell. The Libertarian candidate, Garrett Hayes will get my vote for governor solely for his performance in the debates. If he wins, great. If he forces a runoff, so be it.

Blind allegiance to a person, party or ideology here in the 21st century will get you KILLED. Ask our troops.
