Sonny’s counterpunch: $40 million? What $40 million?
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
Republican incumbent Sonny Perdue on Wednesday put a new TV ad in rotation, contradicting the value that Democratic rival Mark Taylor on a Florida land purchase. See it here.
The governor engages in a bit of sarcasm, offering to sell the land to Taylor for $10 million. (We’re forming a conglomerate now to make Perdue our own offer. Let us know if you want in.)
As always, it’s interesting to see what ground a candidate picks out to defend. The governor’s ad states that since Taylor got the $40 million figure wrong, nothing else the Democrat says can be believed.
Perdue didn’t choose to dispute Taylor’s subsequent ad, which calls attention to the $100,000 tax deferral that followed the Florida purchase.

Sonny should go. He is a liar and cheat. I am not saying that Taylor is better, but we don’t need Sonny.
Again, voters have to pick the lesser of the evils.

OK - Go and find out if any Democrats voted for the tax break and if any Democrats benefitted from it. It is only then that you won’t be accused of being slanted and biased. It’s the “right” thing to.

Ed, do you really think Baxter and Galloway would even try to be fair and unbiased???? They are too busy attacking the Republicans and spewing their leftist propaganda.

Cosmo, when you are the only newspaper in town you don’t have to go out and get journalist that graduated at or near the top of their class if you catch my drift. The problem is a lot of people take them at their word and won’t challenge the message. It’s just like someone from Hollywood giving their political expertise when they don’t even have a high school education. Because they made a good movie they must be telling the truth. You can bet these two guys are taking instructions from their boss on exactly what to publish.

Folks, this reminds me of the old days when them boys from Sugar Creek bought up all the land that became the exits on the interstate. Now do you think Boss Hawg Perdue is buying up land next to Disney World for two million yankee dollars if he don’t think he can make a whole lot more down the road? Wake up and smell the coffee Daisy?

I watched this ad twice and still don’t get the message. Just because he bought the land at two million dollars doesn’t negate the fact that the land is actually worth forty million dollars.
And has anyone actually visited his “deserve to know the truth” web site? It’s a joke. I wanted to know the truth about the land deal, but instead all I got was a vague anecdotal story about the family farm.
Sonny, you’re coasting into election day, just like you coasted through four years in office. Wake up, Georgia.

Folks, both fat boys are crooks, imho. Stealing tax breaks or stealing office rent, they should both be roasted over a slow south georgia fire, like the pigs they are, imho. Ah use the imho cause no one has righteous indignation like a crooked politician caught with his hand in your wallet. Squeal you pigs, cause come the revolution, you and your’s will pay, and pay, and pay.

Freedom Now, unless you have some evidence most of us do not know about you are reckless in asserting that both candidates are crooks. Freedom of speech, like other liberties, also has a corresponding responsibility.
No evidence has been presented to demonstrate that Taylor’s family has done anythng illegal or improper in leasing their properties to the State. Moreover, there is no evidence that the family received special treatment in obtaining the leases. To my knowledge, there is no law prohibiting relatives of an elected official from leasing properties to the State. The relevant law does require disclosure of such transactions.
With respect to Perdue’s land purchase in Florida, there is no law that says a Governor can’t purchase land from a Developer he appointed to the State’s Economic Development Authtority. Until it is proven that he consorted with his private attorney, who happens to be Chair of the Tax Writing Committee, to customize a change in the Tax Law to give him the $100,000.00 tax savings he received from the transaction, then he does not deserve to be called a crook.

Convict:
If you are a convict in the state of Georgia you CANNOT VOTE! Sorry Sonny don’t fall for that one. Neither candidate is acting like professionals and are poorly representing the citizens of Georgia. Sonny says he was a christian before Governor…then act like one while you are Governor. Mark Taylor I have no problem with him working for his family’s business even if it is a couple hours a month. Who would turn that down? He has my vote.
