Sonny’s response, and his wife

Click here to see the response that Sonny Perdue tossed onto the airwaves Friday afternoon, in immediate response to Mark Taylor’s slap at him over the Florida land deal.

Two things to note: First, the general nature of the Perdue ad tells us that it was in the can and ready to go long before Taylor’s ad struck. Secondly, we can’t remember when the wife of a candidate for governor played such a prominent role in her husband’s defense.

This is an interesting psychological move. It’s one thing to question a man’s ethics. Questioning a man’s ethics in front of his wife is a bit different. We’re not exactly sure how, but it is different.

You’ll note the response by Rick Dent, spokesman for Taylor. He made fun of the dog, not Mary Perdue.

I went to Sonny’e “truth” website and clicked on the “land deal” button. The result was that Sonny attacked his opponent and NEVER commented on the tax legislation that allowed him a $100,000 tax savings. In attacking Taylor, he accused him of living in a house bought by his father and of never having to really work because he earned $100,000 a year working a couple of hours a week for his father.

My point is that Sonny has become a hypocrite by attacking Mark Taylor instead if rising above the fray. He also did nothing to explain the appearance of a major ethics problem concerning the tax legislation.

The bottom line is Taylor is not comming across with good ideas that won’t cost an arm and a leg. Since S.P. came out with tax cuts for seniors, which is a great idea, Taylor has been very quiet. He accuses S.P. of buying property for future profit. Last time I checked that’s why everyone buys property.

Sonny has been a great Governor and I will definitely vote for him again. He took a state that had a deficit of over $400mil and turned it around to where we now have over a $500mil surplus. He also reduced taxes for those of us who work for a living. Unlike the jackass party which do nothing but raise taxes for the working class to give more to welfare recipients who are too lazy to work but expect everyone else to support them. Roy Barnes and his democrat cronies drove this state into the ground, why would we every go back!!!!

Perdue can’t have it both ways. He wants to come across as a kind and loveable politican when in fact he has gotten in bed with the wealthy and abandoned the positions he took when he first ran. This man is a FRAUD.

Sonny says one thing and does another. Always has, always will. But it must be working for him, because he’s on his way to re-election.

Note to Dems: Nobody is motivated by the tax break issue. The public is jaded about such matters. Instead, focus on something that stirs passion - such as education funding, senior meds, PeachCare or even the flag lie. (Of course, do NOT change the flag, but just point out that Taylor isn’t a hypocrite on the subject.)

With the exception of a few questionable claims of accomplishments early on in the campaign, the heart of Perdue’s re-election strategy is based on the “Sonny-Do List,” which are promises about what he will do if given another four years. He even encourages listeners to e-mail their items for the “Sonny-Do List.” Unfortunately, Sonny’s record is one of unkept promises, i.e., less government, secretive governance, no net job gain, a health coverage policy that favors the rich, the flaggers, to name a few.

This turncoat Republican, a supposed candidate of less government, has in fact extended the reach of government, i.e., unfunded mandates to local governments, created the disgraced Office of Inspector General, signed a bill that takes driver licenses away from wayward teenagers (a parental responsibility), signed Tort Reform which limits how much patients can sue doctors or hospitals for errors that cause them physical harm, signed a bill that allows insurance companies to offer plans that exclude mammograms, extensive mental-health coverage, restricted eligibility for PeachCare(a government program that covers poor children), toughened the rules on paying the modest PeachCare premiums (kicking off children whose parents were late paying).

Anyone thinking about voting for Perdue based upon his “Sonny-Do List” should be aware that history says he also has a “Sonny Never Intended to Do List.â€?

Why would we want to go back? Quite frankly, because we now know that what we got is not what we need to grow Georgia!

Voters tend to have an oftentime short memory. The Northern Arc had been a subject of some great concern in the Barnes-Taylor Administration. People were afraid of how they might lose their homes in order to creat the Northern Arc. Sonny won, and shortly thereafter, announced that the Northern Arc was dead. Also, Barnes had made several campaign promises while Sonny said that he did not want to make any promises that he was unsure that he could keep. When you see the “Sonny Do” list today, you can know that Governor Perdue does feel sure that he can keep them.

Last time I checked buying property to resell at a higher value was called speculation, which is neither wrong nor immoral. When “everybody” does it, they expect to pay taxes on the profit. The other last time I checked, buying land, selling it at a profit, then using your political office to arrange a retroactive tax break for yourself was called graft and corruption.

Kudos to this POS Sonny. He certainly knows just how stupid the Jawja electorate is. He’s filthy trash, and he will win in November.

Trash elects trash.

Why so much ado about Sonny and HIS WIFE? Could the wife be a proper shield against what Sonny perhaps really DOES in these days of denouncing the Repbublican perverts in politics?

Guess what GodHates Trash … this “accident Governor” will not be re-elected because the people have had enough. You only have to look back at his immediate predecessor to be reminded of the fact that lots of money won’t get you re-elected. Put that fact with the coming exposure of his do nothing administration, unkept promises, ethical lapses, and arrogance and you get a formula for victory for Taylor.

I clearly remember some years ago that this newspaper ran an article stating of how incoming Governor Sonny Perdue had taken office only to discover that the states economy had been depleted by his predecessor, Roy Barnes. The article further stated that emergency funds had been used to give “tablewear lessons for Dekalb County students.” Sonny was unable to initially do some of the things he had promised for this reason but later was able to work on fulfilling these tasks, including, building the states economy back to healthy proportions. Barnes denied all of this awhile back but I still have the printed article.

Has anyone posting on this blog bothered to do exactly what Sonny says in his political ads? That is, have they gone to his “truth” website. I wish you would because instead of truth you will find hypocrisy. I guess if “you can’t handle the truth”, then you won’t go to the website.

While Taylor talks about Sonny’s tax break, Sonny avoids the topic entirely. He has a political ad that accuses Taylor of lying about the subject and directs you to his “truth” website. To save you time and energy, here is what he has to say verbatim:

“Because you can’t attack creating 249,600 new jobs or turning a $640 million deficit into a surplus, and you can’t attack turning our education system around and having the highest SAT ranking and graduation rate in Georgia history, Mark Taylor’s desperation forced him to launch a political attack on Governor Perdue’s family and their land ownership.

The truth is that Sonny and his sister grew up in Middle Georgia, the children of a farmer and teacher, who worked hard for everything they got. Their family owned a farm since the 1930’s and not too long ago, their parents passed away and Sonny and his sister had to sell the land they inherited. Sonny knew there were only two places he could reinvest in property that would not cause the perception of a conflict of interest – adding on to his current home and buying out of state where none of his actions as Governor, like building a road or making other community improvements, would affect his land value. He did both. He also reported all of his actions appropriately on the financial disclosure forms he files as a public official.

Mark Taylor may not understand the importance of property ownership to regular Georgians. He lives in a house his father bought him and has likely never had to write a mortgage check. Sonny worked hard all his life to create a veterinary practice and three other small businesses and to provide for his family. Mark Taylor has been on his father’s payroll since graduating from college and earns $100,000 per year for what he admits is only a couple of hours a month of actual work. That explains the difference between the two men.”

Notice that there is NOTHING said about his retroactive tax legislation that saved him $100,000. Now if you are willing to accept a Governor who thumbs his nose at ETHICS, then just admit it publicly and go ahead and vote for him.

I’ve been a loyal, registered Democrat for over 40 years. But Mark Taylor’s blatent lies have finally pushed me over the line, and I’m voting for Sonny. Mark, you should be ashamed of yourself. And if you ultimately lose by just one vote, you’ll know it was mine.

I’ve been a loyal, registered Republican for over 40 years. But Sonny Perdue’s blatent lies and his bad hair style have finally pushed me over the line, and I’m voting for that hog. Sonny, you should be ashamed of yourself. And if you ultimately lose by just one vote, you’ll know it you didn’t get enough votes.

If faced with 2 equally poor choices, one rich and the other trying to get that way, I’d go with the rich guy. The other one is going to spend his entire time in office trying to sell his position. Since Sonny can’t get it from his daddy, I guess that leaves you and me.

Which are you? Republican or Democrat? You stated in two blogs that you had been registered for both parties for 40 years but now were switching sides. I’d rather vote for someone who has actually worked for a living and then makes large purchases, instead of someone who has really never worked (maybe that’s why he’s “THE BIG GUY”) but lived off family money…..

Don’t know about the second Disgruntled using my name, but the 1st Disgruntled is a former Democrat, voting for someone who has actually worked for a living and makes large, and perfectly legal, purchases. Don’t much care one way or another about the hair.

Thanks N-GA for exposing the truth. I’m not sure why this story doesn’t seem to be picking up any traction. It is very clear that Sonny is a hypocrite, and he’s trying to use his wife to run interference. Sonny Do come clean with the citizens of Georgia.
