It’s the heat, not the humidity
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
On Monday, we told you about the House District 178 race down in southeast Georgia, and Speaker Glenn Richardson’s decision to endorse Mark Williams of Jesup in the GOP primary — at the expense of the other Republican candidate, Kay Godwin of Blackshear.
This contest is rapidly becoming a test of the continued clout for Christian evangelicals within the state GOP. Sadie Fields, chairman of the state Christian Coalition, has cut a radio ad for Godwin — putting herself in opposition to the speaker.
No, she does not use the name of her organization in the ad.
There is no Democrat in the race.

Since the head of a non-partisan, non-biased organization is taking sides, it is clear that the organization itself would be led in that direction. I wonder how she expects anyone to know who she is without mentioning what she leads? Or is it safe to assume the ads are solely directed at those in the CC and who know her to be a latent endorsement of the CC behind the scenes.

What is sad is that Kay Godwin was stabbed in the back by Speaker Richardson. She was the vanguard for the Republican Party in South Georgia along with Pat Tippett. I know for a fact that the grassroots efforts of activists like her was what caused many yellow dog Democrats to switch parties and come over to the light. Kay deserves the support of the Republican establishment. She has earned it through all the hard work she has done. Sadie has every right to support who ever she wants as a private citizen.

Stabbed in the back? Uh oh….another unproven allegation.
Kay Godwin only supports who she wants. She builds ONLY for HER candidates. She does not build for the party. She builds for HER agenda. She’s burned several good conservatives with her actions.
As for switching parties, these people still carry over their moderate fiscal views from their days in the Dem Party. All they’ve done is turned the GA Republicans into a neo-Southern Democratic Party. Godwin has done nothing but diluted the party and destroyed the ones who truly built this party.

Kay Godwin is one of the most sincere lovingand respected Christian activists that I have ever met. She is the same behind closed doors as she is out in the open. For 12 years Kay has represented as a liasion between the Baptist Assocation and the Capital because she saw a decline in moral values. She is credited by Governor Sonny Perdue for his win. She is the reason Senators Tommie Williams, Greg Goggins and Jeff Chapmen are in office. She played a huge part in U.S. Congressman Kingston and U.S. Senator Saxby Chambliss’s victories.
For a total of 15 years has being going to the Capital representing groups like the Chrisitian Coalition for free. Sadie Fields did a great thing by endorsing Kay Godwin as a Pro-Family Activist, and not as the President of the CC, since the CC can not endorse a canidate. Two board members of the Republican Party has also offered to endorse Kay and expalin that Kay Godwin is far more respected as a Republican than Mark Williams, who was hand picked by the Speaker of the House so that he will vote the good-ole boy way.
Kay’s oppentant has no expereince except for hob knobing with the rich.
Remember, you can have Mark, the Yes man for Glen Richardson or you can have Kay, the classy lady that votes Republican until it turns into the good ole boy system.

Mark Williams has been the Wayne County Chairman for the following: Sen Saxby Chambliss, Sen. Johnny Isakson, Gov. Sonny Perdue, Congressman Jack Kingston and KAY GODWIN.
What is sad is that 2 years ago, Kay didn’t tell the truth about her tax liens. She blamed it on the Democrats and didn’t take responsibility for her own actions.
There is a difference between a leader and an activist, and Mark is no doubt the true leader in the race.

So I guess the GOP state house is good ol’ boy now? I guess Kay’s activism has turned the State House into the good ol’ boy system? Because after all it was HER hard work that gave the GOP majority…that is now the good ol’ boy system.
Godwin and Tippett only work for THEIR goals NOT the GOP’s goals. If you don’t drink their Kool Aid, they burn you no matter how religious you are. Personally I don’t like Sadie Fields using her position to endorse in this campaign. People only know her because of the CC. So she is by proxy giving the CC endorsement. I’d rather have someone free of ANY special interest group in office than someone beholden to Fields, Reed, or the likes of those zealots.
