The speaker makes a pick in a House primary
And it's not the rally-the-base candidate you'd expect
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution
The most notable political news of the day may have been Speaker Glenn Richardson’s decision to step into a Republican race for the House.
Richardson on Wednesday endorsed Mark Williams, a business leader in Jesup, in the Republican contest to replace retiring state Rep. Hinson Mosley in District 178. Interestingly, the speaker used the phrase “common-sense conservative” to describe Williams.
The other candidate in that race is Kay Godwin, a Republican grassroots organizer who was essential in Gov. Sonny Perdue’s 2002 victory. She lost a close race against Mosley two years ago.
Godwin has deep, deep ties to Christian conservatives across the state. She’s also a firm backer of Ralph Reed for lieutenant governor. Williams is behind Reed’s primary opponent, Casey Cagle. Circles within circles within circles.

So the implication is:
Godwin=>Reed Williams=>Cagle Richardson=>Williams
Therefore Richardson=>Cagle?
If so, I’d say Speaker Richardson has made the right choice.

“common-sense conservative”
How about a story about the Easter Bunny or Santa Claus?
Why are Georgia rednecks such stupid trash?

I’m glad to see that we still have some people who appreciate common sense in our state.

It is sad that Richardson and Tommie Williams for that matter have abandoned Kay Godwin, who has done so much for our party over many, many years. She was good enough when they were in the minority and she worked tirelessly for them and to create the majority we now enjoy.
I see this as another sad sign that Republicans are going to become just like the Democrats use to be. As soon as they are elected they abandon the very ones who helped them get there.

If Godwin is such a fine KKKhristian woman, she should be home cleaning the house and getting dinner ready for Mr. Godwin.
Now you know where you stand with Mr. Richardson, Ms. Godwin.
In the kitchen.

Tater,
She’s not a hard worker for the party. She’s a hard worker for those within the party who believe as she does. There have been some outstanding conservatives she has bashed and worked against solely because they aren’t kool aid drinkers like her. Perhaps because she’s burned those bridges, many leaders within the party have basically dropped her from the list of ‘those who work hard for the party’.

Tater Tate- I hope you don’t really believe what you said. Godwin is linked to the Christian Coalition and that group of no-common sense Reed supporters. Sadie showed her true colors by handling the Macon situation with her usual love and compassion. She will continue to alienate her supporters until she is the Jesse Jackson of Georgia politics. The Republican Party needs to be conservative, like CC says, but we don’t need to be tied to the corruption and scandale and everything that is bad about Washington and Ralph Reed. Kay’s approach to people is similar to Sadie’s, and Lord knows that’s not what we need in Atlanta.

My concern with Godwin is that she is registered as a lobbyist see link” http://www.ethics.state.ga.us/gaethics/Reports/Lobbyist/LobbyistName.aspx?&FilerID=L20060237 “, the company “UNSPAM REGISTRY SERVICES” of Utah has its own issues. I Quote from Link:http://www.directmag.com/mag/marketinglittlepiggywent/It would appear that behind the two laws enacted last summer in Michigan and Utah that allow parents to register children’s e-mail addresses and other “contact points” as off limits to messages with content or links to content that’s illegal for them to view or buy. Unspam runs the registries.
E-mailers who want to include such material, such as a beer-brewing e-mail newsletter, are supposed to scrub their lists against these registries for $5 and $7 per thousand addresses checked in Utah and Michigan, respectively.
Iowa, Georgia, Connecticut, Hawaii and Wisconsin are considering similar legislation. Unspam is behind them, too.
Let’s see: Unspam lobbies for the laws, helps write them, wins the contracts and then profits from them.” Kay Godwin is a registered to lobby for “UNSPAM” and is running for state House. As the article said where is the Pony in this dung pile”

Tater,
Abandon? Are you kidding me. She is a paid lobbyist. She earns money from the political contacts she has made and now tries to act pure as the driven snow. She threatens everybody with working against them if they don’t comply with her wishes.
Mrs. Godwin is not pure. She is not only a paid lobbyist, but she didn’t pay her taxes. She had over 30 Tax liens agaisnt her just recently. Is this the kind of Representative we need in Atlanta? I would say not. The Speaker made the right choice.

Housecreek Now, now that was for us locals to know about. You must have forgot that she explained how she had some hardtimes like anyone in business. I wonder if she gets to Atlanta if the state sees hard times, what would happen? At least you did not mention anything about signs. I would bet Mr. Williams has spent some good money for his signs. I might be wrong but I would think if a homeowner put Mr. Williams signs up in his yard, maybe that is who he wants to support.

It’s spelled JeSup, not JeSSup. Only one S.
