Sonny Perdue to hit airwaves on Monday

Gosh. With lots of money in hand, Perdue seems to be tracking Roy Barnes' schedule

We’re told that Gov. Sonny Perdue, flush with re-election cash, is set to start his TV campaign on Monday. He’s arranged to drop nearly $1.5 million over the next five weeks in metro Atlanta alone.

For those of you who keep calendars, that’s only two days later than Roy Barnes began running his television spots four years ago.

The most recent polls showed President Bush dragging down Perdue and other Republicans in Georgia, and that may be one reason for Perdue’s early launch. But also remember that, in 2002, Perdue had so little money that he couldn’t afford a substantial televised introduction to the state.

This time, he’s got $8.2 million in hand, and it’s the Democrats who are sucking wind. Statewide, Perdue has purchased time in second-tier markets, too — Augusta, Columbus, Macon and Savannah. Total buy is about $2.1 million. A moderate entry into the ‘06 race.

We’ve no word on content. The timing says to expect Perdue’s ads to be warm and fuzzy. Then again, only a few weeks ago, the governor showed a video to the Republican upper-crust that emphasized his leadership in fighting gas-gougers after Hurricane Katrina.

Obviously, current gasoline prices are a worry for any incumbent. We’ll offer a link as soon as we can.

None of this info comes from Perdue campaigners, but they don’t dispute it, either. And by coincidence, Monday is Perdue’s formal kick-off day. Re-election festivities begin with a rally on the Marietta Square at noon.

Sonny just needs to sit back and let the train wreck campaigns of both Democrats derail.

Governor Goober will probably run another smear campaign like he did last time. It was low class then, and he will be true to form.

I want to hear what MT and CC have to say about real democrat issues, reasonable gun control to stem the tide of youth being killed in Dekalb and Clayton, giving women easier access to choice options, welfare for those who are less fortunate, etc. It appears they are Republicans dressed in democrat clothes. They side with big business, lax environmental laws and white establishment leaders.

There’s no such thing as “reasonable” gun control, ask anyone who lived though Germany during WW II. giving woman easier assess to choice options? murders murder no matter what lable it wears, gov supported birth control should not be a option. White establishhment leaders? As more and more minorties become sucessful, they find they don’t want what they’ve worked for and earned taken away from them anymore than anyone else does regardless of their skin color. lax environmental laws? For years we’ve heard and seen the left side with the environmentists, now that the publics backs against the wall and hard choices have to be made, we see the left taking BOTH sides, no drilling or growth of the oil industry BUT no steps to be taken support alternative fuels either, you have only to look at where kennedy and the environmentists stand on the windmill project in the northeast. For years the enviromentist have pushed for alternate fuel sources now that the time is here, the democrats cry, no, we can’t allow that either, and you really wonder why democrats are leaving the party?

The only way the Democrats will beat Perdue is if the Republicans nominate Ralph Reed, the Cynthia McKinney of the GOP.

How rediculous can you get. Perdue can only be helped by the presence of Reed on the ticket. He will help moblize the base of the party.

This is just another example of the Cagle smear campaign, to suggest that Reed will hurt Perdue. This is classic dirty politics and from a candidate that this week has shown how far he will descend into the gutter to win.

This week alone Cagle admitted giving campaign contributions of $1,000 to Mark Taylor out of fear and intimidation.

He admitted that he violated state ethics laws by not reporting his campaign contributions properly in order to make it seem he has more money on hand that he really does.

His campaign staffer did the same thing to Reed’s entry in Wikipedia (on-line) that Cox’s staffer did. Cox had the integrity to fire her guy. Cagle says this is just dirty politics as usual and has not fired Bard Alexander for his dirty tricks.

And on top of all that he has made himself rich while serving on committees that oversee his business activities.

It goes on and on. Cagle has set himself up as an ethical moral candidate, but the reality is he is dirty and has run a dirty smear campaign against Reed, joining in with the liberal media and Democrats, to destroy Reed.

Now it seems that Cagle has been throwing rocks from a glass house that is very, very dirty inside.

I am a former Cagle guy. He does not deserve anyone trust after this week and he will not have my vote. I’m for Reed. He is a conservative hero who has helped us win our majority in this state and in our nation.

Sign me,

The former Cagle guy who is now with Reed!

Add another budget problem for Perdue - the need for a new mental institution for the 5 Reed supporters still left out there. Delusional, hysterical, and in need of lots of therapy. we expect the conditions to get worse as we approach July 18th.

ethics lectures from a man who laundered cash from Jack Abramoff through a child molester to pay for his sugarloaf lifestyle. yeah, georgians are going to go for that.

Jack S, more insults form a dying campaign. Cagle must be so proud to have someone like that just hurls insults. Really pathetic. We will see who is right on July 18th. Kool aid will become the preferred beverage in Georgia. You may should go ahead and reserve your place in your local mental ward.

You Cagle people have had a tough week.

Cagle lied about the Taylor contribution and accuses the Lt. Governor of extortion. That needs to be investigated to see who lied. After all Cagle alleged that Taylor committed a criminal offense. Cagle blasted Reed about the 1998 Taylor ad when Cagle’s paid consultant starred as Taylor in the ad. Cagle led and puffed up contributions he had not received on his financial disclosure form. His treasurer admitted posting contributions that were not received. The law is very clear. It says date of receipt. Cagle has so far refused to file an ammended form. What is Cagle hiding? He could put the whole matter to rest by simply filing an ammended disclosure form, but he has not and he faces a complaint being filed.
