Next thing you know, there’ll be Hechtiacs

Howard Dean's former advisor to direct Hecht's web effort

Joe Trippi, the guru of Howard Dean’s internet-fueled 2004 campaign for the Democratic presidential nomination, has signed on as a consultant to former Sen. Greg Hecht, who qualified Thursday for the non-Ralph Reed side of the lieutenant governor’s race.

We’re told Trippi will do some of the standard “message” work that political consultants do, but he’ll focus on Internet fund-raising and networking, which gave Dean an early, and as it turned out short-lived, boost.

Now it seems the Democratic consultant is turning that into something of a specialty. (Rule No. 1 for Internet political consultants: Stay away from Wikipedia.)

Although Dean faltered, Trippi just had a big win: He was involved in the final months of the Romano Prodi campaign.

Che cosa? You are asking, who is Romano Prodi? Why, the center-left candidate who just knocked off Silvio Berlusconi in the Italian prime minister’s race. Consultants get around these days.

Jeez…. consultants sure got it goin’ on, considering anyone and their grandma can set up a free blog in about 10 minutes. You can make a free website in another 20. Compile an email database in about 30 - and voila — an instant “Internet-fueled” SOMETHING is born.

And since this is a fake blog for fake bloggers, don’t you think you’re going WAY out on a limb, Bad EyeWear Dudes, to even bring up Wikipedia? Whatcha gonna do next, stump ‘em with RSS?

This isn’t remotely related to the posting, but how is it that there is a Republican running on the States Rights Platform of the Republican Party and Ray McBerry didn’t even get a line or two? Governor Purdue has taken political lying to an all time high, even made it an art form. When confronted with letters, articles written based on letters or even tapes of him saying things, he denies having ever said that, and many times he claims he wasn’t even in the State when the person speaking on his behalf said the things the Governor would never say.

For those of you who remeber the old Movie, “Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” the Governor in that movie sang a song about such behavior, Oh I love to side step, now they see me, now they, now they don’t, I’ve come and gone. and the chorus ends with I love to lead the people on.

We are about to see whether there are more Republicans for the liar or angry with the liar. Too bad the Democrats have a contested primary, or they would be out in droves voting against the Governor. We can always hope that the Governor ignores his competition, but that is what Roy Barnes did to him, I doubt he’d be that stupid.

I love Sonny! Democrat smear tactics won’t work on him. I’ve met him in person, and he is a good man, down to earth, and fun to be around. Sonny’s done a ton for this state and I’m sure he’ll be reelected.
